Unholy Grave Review:
Unholy Grave is Unholy Grave, they continue to deliver their own brand of raw and wildly energic, gutsy grindcore, filled with rage, crusty goodness, genius simplicity, infectious groove and above all true sense of fun. As always it also comes with a totally fitting, quite harsh, but really nice and raw sound production! Out-of-whack low guttural roars and high shrieking madness, some insanely catchy grindcore riffs and really slick grinding drumming (with a definite touch of crust too). Quite a lot of catchy short songs (most of em clocking around 1 minute, rarely reaching 2 minutes). And as usual, message lyrics, sometimes really obvious like "Terrorism Sucks" or "Terrorist Must Die"!!! I love that stuff... Straightforward grindcore like that is always refreshing to hear...
Anarchus Review: Very effective, turbulent, thrashing mexican grind with superb bass distortion, merciless guitar riffing, and totally unique vocals: extremely aggressive, almost demonic sounding, midrange shrieking vociferations. I found this band's stuff to be really intense and gripping. The sound is quite heavy but also has a really rough vibe that I absolutely love! Pretty neat packaging layout, two one-of-a-kind grind bands and simply a killer split release in my eyes...

UNHOLY GRAVE "Inhumanity"

(Eclipse Records)
Release date: 1996
Running time: 43:52

Review: This is second long length Unholy Grave cd, and it's always so fucking crazy! Their raw grindcore is filled with energy, joy and violence... This album contains 3 different recordings from april 96, september 95 and december 95... where sound productions are slightly differing (the second recording is the more powerful one). A total of 33 tracks!!! This band have a totally unique raw sound, original vocals, alternating growls and hysterical screams, but it's not the usual way of uttering grindcore vocals... here it's really grotesque, funny, (sometimes they laugh or do very strange throaty noises...) and in the same time filled with extreme intensity and anger! The guitars have an amazing dirty sound, riffs are grindy, basic and simply kick ass, with blasting parts and also crusty midtempos plus groovy rythms, but always played with intensity and never getting boring. Songs are not too long, just catchy like it has to be! I fucking love this band! Some people will think the sound production is poor, but the rawness is part of Unholy Grave style! The most important thing is that they have a strong grinding identity and their songs are always fucking tight!

Tracks: 1)Undocumented workers 2)Hizbullah 3)Mata apara 4)Buried terror 5)Single mother by choice 6)Failure teaches success 7)Deprogramming 8)Boy soldiers 9)C.T.B.T./Undulation 10)Non for Muruoa 11)Cult of terror 12)Don't swallow media's story 13)Ugly lust for power 14)Contradiction 15)Nerves gas attack 16)Mind devolution 17)Stop terrorism 18)Awake 19)Invisible bleeder 20)The pus in your brain 21)Religion? Gods? 22)Lies behind their smile 23)Under suspicion hell 24)The killing continues 25)Missing children 26)Who killed the victims? 27)Inhuman sexual slavery 28)No racial superiority 29)The war dead 30)Nanking atrocity 31)Incomprhensible law 32)Resign! -history distortor- 33)Our commong slogan

UNHOLY GRAVE "Crucified"

(Eclipse Records)
Release date: 1995

Review: I only knew 2 or 3 EPs & splits before discovering "Crucified". But well, no amazing surprise, I noticed they do not change their style very much through the years... But here, it's a good point because the old school grindcore they perform is so lovely, intense and insane. They found their very own sound and personality and i think I'd always be able to recognize Unholy Grave between hundreds or thousands other bands. The very particular extreme vocals range from low-pitched doggy-growls, to piercing, very high-pitched shrieks. Sound production is clear, but not over-the-top powerful; anyway they don't need a powerful sound! Their own energy and grinding essense is enough to rip off your face! And brutally break your skull in two by the way! Guitars have a nice raw vibe, and provide real catchy & thrashy riffs... Of course, I don't think you can say this is a PURE grindcore band (to me pure grindcore is Napalm Death on F.E.T.O. They invented the term so they are the reference in the matter!) Unholy Grave bring many crusty and noise influences into their composition. They are always violently intense, at 200 percent, ONLY playing for the sake of brutalizing people's ears! Lyrics are "socially aware" and honestly of great interesting. Simple but very well-written. To close this review, all these 16 tracks should satisfy anyone interested in true mince/grindcore/noisy/crust underground sounds.

Tracks: 1)Maniacal discharge 2)Human mummification 3)Mental disease 4)Atrocity - war of aggression - 5)Worthless prize 6)Korean residents in Japan 7)Be born poor 8)Forced unfair future 9)Blinded - death from overwork - 10)Euthanasia 11)The unknown ghost - the fugitives - 12)Discrimination 13)Protestant? catholic? 14)Shameless bighead 15)Mass imbeciles - racism - 16)Greedy pigs
