Review: Bloody
hell! This one took me by surprise. Freaking great stuff! It's swedish,
and inevitably, it has THE sound, something in the vein of General
Surgery and... therefore Carcass. I can't say it's exactly Goregrind
but it definitely has a few parts in pure "Reek of Putrefaction"
tradition. The rest is quite tight, raw and violent death metal
à la early Grave/Entombed, mixed with a bit of genuine, savage
grind, a few well placed nasty blasts and a hell of guttural growls
and sickening mid-high screamy maligna vox. At one point, there's
stuff that I thought was completely like a Protes Benct song, if
you know that old crust band... that was cool. Anyway, here you
go, 7 awesome songs kicking ass, between early Carcass and old swedish
death metal. Can't get any better. The thing is that it's a one-man
deal! I honestly didn't notice it wasn't an actual band until I've
read it on the website. This kind of stuff drives me nuts. If you're
still waiting for General Surgery to do their come back, I say pick
this one up instead, you won't be disappointed. The sound is quite
raw but personally, I think it's part of what gives the band more
edge. Thanks for the cool samples from Fulci's City of the Living
Dead & Zombi 2 too, that's a great plus.

LOBSTER ASSAULT
Demo Tape |

Review: New
Lobster Assault tape, and last one since I hear this band has split
up. Oh well... Anyway, this is hysterical raw grind-noise, wacky
stuff in Pile of Eggs state of mind... Actually, the first part
of the tape is heavily into thrash metal and stuff, more than grind:
it has the rough rehearsal sound, the improvised feel, the larsens,
the plethora of songs but most of it of thrashing stuff. Alot of
it almost seems constructed. Some thrash and then really cool fast
fast parts springing up. It's quite enjoyable stuff especially for
the nice tight drumming, but sometimes it sounds like punk black
metal. The rest of the tape has a more blurry sound and alot more
straightforward brutal grind goodness; I think I like it better,
it's alot more chaotic and absurd, with some big fat growls, the
rest is piercing screaming and once more a few bits of old Metallica
thrashing guitar. The stuff's really fun to listen, in a really
mind-numbing delirium tremens kind of way... It definitely has really
awesome deranged grind moments. I also like the occasional spoken
intros, always great fun. And the cute cover art. The slow Cathedral
song that turns to grind-noise... It's all great fun... The great

LOBSTER ASSAULT
Demo Tape |

Review: Well
well! A band that's pretty funny and totally raw. The sound is the
rehearsal raw recording type. For improvised grind I thought it
sounded pretty cool. It's not the larsen and headachy type of grind-noise,
it's just pretty fun stuff a bit like Anal Cunt and Piles of Eggs.
The drums have something quite tight going on and the guitars come
with alot of thrashy goodness. Of course they could care less about
writing songs that make sense. They just play their stuff the fun
way. Obviously with alot of joking around, funyy spoken intros and
stuff.. and the lobster on the cover is so cute. Mmhh.. ok, whatever.
It's just hilarious stuff. The thing to do is visit the website:
http://www.geocities.com/lobsterassault/,
it's also alot of fun.

Review: Another
release from Lofty Storm records. Lymphatic Phelgm is a band from
two guys, they play brutal grind-gore with pathological lyrics. In
this five tracks you can hear the eletronic blast beats rape your
ears. Other great thing in this demo is the cool vocals (Blluuaaargh)
and some intros from horror movies. The sound of this demo is OK;
the cover design is very good with colour cover, pics from the band
and lyrics....
