ROT "Old Dirty Grindcores" Cd

(2+2=5 Records )
Release date:
2002

Review:
Definitely not the most loved grind band on earth, no idea why! Rot always kicked serious ass to me. I remember having listened to "Cruel Face of Life" alot back in the day, they were on my top grindcore list and they still are! One of the last few bands that keep their grindcore basic and pure, and have never strayed from their usual grindcore formula. Maybe for some punk songs here and there, but just a few. Anyway... Here, on this cd, is an impressive collection of some unreleased stuff and a complete set of old Rot Ep's and stuff released along the years... All studio material. It starts with recent unreleased material that has a sharp and clear sound; these are truly crushing compositions... simple, catchy, fast grindcore that blows everything away. As the cd progresses, the sound quality regresses and the band keeps getting rawer and more primal as we go back in time. The last songs have really crappy sound quality but you can hear the band in their most savage state. The growling vocals are some of the most grotesque and primal I've ever heard, the riffs are strictly grind-oriented like the drums alternating between pounding blasts and crust-core-type midtempos... The Agathocles and early Napalm Death ("Scum" period) influence is ever present in this band, although they definitely have their own sound, recognizable among many others. In my opinion this cd is brilliant, and highly recommended to true grindcore freaks!

ROT "Sociopathic Behaviour"

(Ecocentric records)
Release date: 1998

Review:
I recently heard many people telling bad things about this band... and well, I don't really know why? Sure, ROT will not musically and lyrically please to some brutal death/goregrind "extremists" I know or even to clean punk rock hardrock metal stupids, because here we have mince/crust influenced grindcore, with social lyrics... But anyway, I can't say I didn't enjoy this grinding long lenght album. ROT is playing since early 90, they got some line-up changes, their music evolved to a more crusty kind of grindcore, and well, it still seriously kicks ass! They also kept their great stenchy heavy sound! Drums are very fast, vocals(growls and screams) are far much better than before, guitars are much more worked, and sound production is honestly good for a grindcore band. We can hear the Agathocles inspiration very well I think; but lyrics are really more pessimistic; the album title says it all, it's about hypocrisy, conformism and all related subjects... I found them more clever than on their previous releases... and their musicianship technicity has improved with the time too! There's therefore something I don't like on this album, it's the front cover... Why didn't they use their usual great logo? (Rot's logo is cool, it looks like Gut logo!) But well, this isn't really important. I like ROT. If you're into AGATHOCLES, NASUM and early NAPALM DEATH, you should love this cd. And look for their future work coz they are always improving!

Tracks: 1)Feasting his death 2)What a joke 3)Unjustifable fruit 4)Life is not so fine 5)No fear to sin 6)Being different 7)Strong asociality 8)Clones 9)Happiness get away! 10)Seeding the absurd 11)Learn some respect 12)Russian rolet 13)Infibulation 14)Human has (be)gun 15)Filled with hatred 16)All around us 17)Modern days 18)Downtrodden 19)Happening in the scene 20)Nothing to hope 21)Abstract 22)Wonderful tomorrow 23)Catching the fish hook 24)Thank you anyway 25)Stinks like shit 26)Dream after dream 27)From creation to colapse 28)Nightmare factory 29)Symptoms of a new age 30)Commen sense 31)Amazing lunacy 32)No longer a threat 33)Social gear

ROT/SUBLIME CADAVERIC DECOMPOSITION Split Cd

(Bones Brigade)
Release date: 1998

Rot Review:
Here is the second cd release by Bones Brigade, the label which released Last Days of Humanity first cd... All I can say is: What a striking cd! Total professionnal work! Over-the-top quality cd artwork... and both bands of the split have a significant brutal and clear sound production... ROT side is the vein of their new album "Sociopathic behavior" (even better): brutal mince/grindcore with lots of crust and hardcore influences... Marcelo's vocals are always so growling... with lots of backing screams and hardcore vocals... It's powerful, grinding and energic and I love it! The anti-ROT ones won't like it; it's their problem! I really enjoy their music and I don't care about stupid rumours and baseless talk-abouts about the band... Here we have brutal music! So let's enjoy without masturbating our brain! Social lyrics as usual(interesting to read; at least for me!), and artistic paintings pictures: pretty good.

Tracks: 1)Cynical excuse 2)Little rockstars 3)Pull the trigger 4)Punk as fuck 5)Another boring day 6)Surfer boy 7)Despise their judgement 8)Socially conform 9)As a whole

Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition Review: Simply a masterpiece... Here is without doubts the best french band ever! The drums sound like the ones on DEAD INFECTION "A chapter of accidents"(blasting and ultra fast with a really percussive sound), guitars and bass are down-tuned and sound like terrible visceral excess... The vocals are without effects, but ultra extreme and sick: most of them are screamy but not too much accentuated and dissolving very well with the background music and the other type of vocals: the ultra low growls... Sound production is really astonishing, and all the instruments and vocals are blending to form an homogeneous heavy type of grindcore(in DEAD INFECTION "A chapter of accidents" vein). But they are not a DEAD INFECTION rip-off, they have their own personality and music sound; and I'm sure I can recognize Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition any times I hear it! Includes porngore artwork! and the most stupid song titles ever! A MUSTGETITRIGHTNOW cd...

Tracks:
10)Scrotum rules 11)Nécropédozoophilien 12)3-0 Scatogorophage / La deuxxx! / GôÖÄÄââllll 13)Lady died 14)Female sphincter dilation 15)Emmoroïdal meat 16)Drink-Smoke-Fuck-Eat! (Just do it!) 17)Royal spice fucking(porcine power) 18)Dead dick 19)Stomach masturbation 20)Penis autodissection 21)Grunter screams 22)Grinding oesophage ejeculation 23)Siprinose addiction 24)Marie & Schultz 25)Pigs & Love 26)Move your ears!!! 27)Vitch boys (Bloody dance musique) 28)STOP salad vivisection... ROT "Cruel Face of Life"

(Morbid records)
Release date: 1993 (tracks 22-32 recorded in 1992, tracks 33-42 recorded in 1991)

Review:
Brazilian band Rot iplays raw heavy primal grindcore, very very very inspired by Napalm Death "Scum" and early Agathocles; This is really cool, just tight grinding drums, brutally thrashing guitars and hateful growls as vocals (+ screamy backing vocals). Song structures are basic but this is sometimes a little hard to listen, even though the sound is really ok; All the songs sound like great grindcore masterpieces but it could have been played thousands time better! The catchy thing is not always here... Anyway, there are 42 short GRIND tracks(1 minute max. for each song) This is studio material of 1993 and from two 7"eps of 1992 and 1991. Interesting(but sometimes too simple) social lyrics about lack of personality and hypocrisy... still worths the listening because this is an old band, playing uncompromising grind from the start!

Tracks: 1)Fatality? 2)Smiling faces 3)Games of hypocrisy 4)Musculous ignorance 5)Puppet 6)Restricted 7)The flower 8)Hidden from yourself 9)No will to change 10)Cooperation not competition 11)Living to deceive 12)Anger against conformity 13)Fools to resist 14)It isn't your problem 15)Friends? not mine 16)Express your opinion 17)Lack of ideals 18)Drunk driver 19)No equality 20)Still not for me 21)Accepting the foretold 22)The actor 23)The actor 23)Reality based on lies 24)My enemy 25)Nice face (shit intelligence) 26)Cruel face of life 27)Very important people 28)What I feel is what I want 29)No gods - catch can 33)Rubbish country 24)Blind 35)J.J.J. 36)Laws and crimes 37)No more 38)The pest 39)Almighty god 40)Dear sorry! 41)Disarm the world 42)Your fear
