REALIZED "21st Century Terminal World " Cd

(Bloodbath Records)
Release date:
2005
Running time:

Review:
Ok, I've been stuck in a lazy stance for a while now, all it took to wake me up and start writing reviews again is this goddamn band! Realized is my new god... I honestly don't think any band ever has come as close to the magic of early grindcore as Realized... This band is like early Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror of old re-incarnated! The drum sound has the same timber and impact as Mick Harris drums used to have, the extremely grotesque raging growling vocals are just like Lee Dorian (mixed with E.N.T.) and the backing screaming vocals have a "Leave Me Alone" era SxOxB touch to em as well. This cd absolutely rules, straightforward, direct and to the point, grind-blasts and catchy crusty midtempos... The only diversion from the grindcore formula is on track 6 "Sweet Hammerheart" where the band seems to mimic Motorhead in a very tongue-in-cheek way... 24 minutes is pretty damn short but they manage to achieve more than all of all of the pseudo-grind that came out in the past few years combined... Goes without saying that this is an ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE release! I wanna say japanese grindcore scene is head and shoulders above any grind scene in the world! That's just how I feel right now!

REMASCULATE "Blend In and Juice Them" Cd

(Evigt lidande productions (ELP-006))
Release date:
2006
Running time:
19:03

Review:
Remasculate is playing nice and clean swedish death metal, it's quite effective and it's got some blistering grind elements as well... Some solid, catchy riffing, very slightly melodic/intricate but still keeping a very basic/straightforward, crunchy vibe (there's an ex-Desperator member on guitar just to give you an idea), pretty fucking tight drumming (by the drummer of Insision on this one), rhythms are kept pretty fast, some sweet blastbeats here and there, the rest is rather mid-paced parts but delivered with tons of groove, kind of Entombed-style... Last but not least some dual vocal work, alternating roaring growls and piercing shrieks! Not the most memorable or original-sounding band ever of course but this is still 10 songs of tightly-written, well-executed and pretty intense grinding death metal, well above the norm, in my not-so-humble opinion; Remasculate just gets the job done here... The sound production is pretty smooth, not the heaviest, just clear and conveying just the right amount of aggression! The band's got an air of Birdflesh, from the slick grinding death metal style to the similar gory, twisted sense of humor that's displayed through the lyrics (not quite as hilarious as Birdflesh though but still good fun). All in all, a quality cd, short but sweet! The band's got plenty of samples on their websites, so the best would be to maybe just check this one out for yourself!

Tracks: 1)Til The Stench Do Us Part (2:33) 2)Mens True Asian Obsession (1:51) 3)Bon Ape Tit (2:47) 4)Subway Doomsday (1:50) 5)Cum On Everybody (1:22) 6)Prostitutor (1:46) 7)Get Rid Of That Butt & Get A New Fag (2:05) 8)Rhoid Rage (1:01) 9)Genital Haipiece (1:50) 10)Blend In And Juice Them (1:58)

REPUGNANCE "Maximum Perversum"

(Uxicon Records - UX 015 MCD)
Release date: 28/4/2000

Review:
I already reviewed this before as a promo Cd, but it's been released on Uxicon since then. So here's a new review of the real thing... Repugnance is a great spanish band into grind-death, not unlike Impetigo and Repulsion, musically and lyrically. They've been around for a while, but without releasing alot of stuff. On this one, they have a great sound and awesome compositions. They're tight and they sound real dirty. Abrasive and repulsive gore-spewing growls, with high pitched semi-screams also. Songs structures are rather simple, basic, and that's the a safe way to stay truly catchy. Guitars have a real dirty thrashy rock n' roll feeling. It's not blastbeats all over the place, but songs have direct and assured tempos, kinda in a Impetigo or Repulsion way, as I said before. Stuff that just makes you bang your head. A truly fine Grind band out of Spain. And a very well-done Mcd, good sound, great looking artwork, and a booklet containing the fun lyrics...

Tracks:
 1)Necro-Carnage 2)Uncle Harry's horror show 3)The feast 4)77 Road killing 5)Fist fucking 6)La villa's butcher 7)Goreman 8)Zombie rampage 9)In dreams 10)Blow of my hammer 11)Diary of a necrophile 12)Throughout the night 13)Snuff star 14)Noughty boys 15)Vermins 16)The teeth of the cannibals

REPULSION "Horrified"

(Wyatt Earp - re-released on Necrosis records in 1989, re-released in 92 on Relapse records)
Original release date: 1986

Review:
I suppose everybody knows about them, they're the origin of grindcore and gore. It was a little bit before Napalm Death or Carcass... and it was from the United States. I personally think of it as some kind of really fast and violent Slayer, with short songs (1-2 minutes). Repulsion was one of the first band with such fast drumming, such scary basic grind riffs, raw bass and really gory horror lyrics. The vocals are quite clear, that's why I think they were close to Slayer, but in fact, those sounded really dirty too. Anyway, that's The Major Grind-Death Album, everybody should know it. Every single title is a classic, an example of perfect grind song-writing. I have it on Cd released by Necrosis Records with a lyrics sheet, and I have it in another version released by Relapse Records, without lyrics sheet, but with a bonus track, "Black Nightmare".

Tracks: 1)The Stench Of Burning Death 2)Eaten Alive 3)Acid Bath 4)Slaughter Of The Innocent 5)Decomposed 6)Radiation Sickness 7)Splattered Cadavers 8)Festering Boils 9)Petilent decay 10)Crematorium 11)Driven To Insanity 12)Six Feet Under 13)Bodily Dismemberment 14)Repulsion 15)The Lurking Fear 16)Black Breath 17)Maggots In Your Coffin 18)Horrified 19)Black nightmare (Bonus track)

RETALIATION "The Execution"

(Headfucker Records)
Release date: 1999
Running time: 15:27

Review:
All the swedish bands say the swedish scene is not so great, but hell; they have some of the most interesting and quality grindcore bands worldwide. I mean, they have: Nasum, Regurgitate, Birdflesh, Desperator, Arsedestroyer, now General Surgery; and Retaliation too! This last one may become my favourite swedish one by the way if they keep it this way. I remember digging their intense raw gore-grind style alot on "Devastating doctrine dismemberment" demo, and especially on the Grindwork 4 way split cd but it was years ago. Naturally I really appreciated their come-back with the split 7" with Exhumed. They're now more grind-crust oriented than before, with harsh intensity and raw sound reminding of early grind pioneers that were Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror and Terrorizer. Extremely fast grindcore coupled with a real good crust feel: just intense as fuck. Vocals are like hysterical screamings, with great saturating sound at times and a few lower backing groanings. Songs tend to be very short, dense, with basic structures, and it's really fresh. 15 minutes of unrelenting aggression devoid of any boring metal influence; just going straight to the core of good things, it definitely hurts! The powerful sound production helps alot. A production in sound and artwork worthy of Relapse Records works... I mean, professional stuff! A bad ass murderous concept for 22 speedcrazed grind hits. Just really really fine, I want more of that! A mini-cd is really not enough!

Tracks: 1)Genocide angels 2)All in your head 3)Suicidal disease 4)Anorectic disease 5)No one knows my grave 6)Sick of complacence 7)Black malice 8)Inferior 9)Given a reason 10)Never 11)Crushing defeat 12)War! War! War! 13)Ignorance 14)Like weeds 15)Another dead hero 16)Last stop 17)The rest of me 18)Return to zero 19)The harsh, bitter truth 20)Time to pray 21)Unjustified existence 22)Sans mercy (outro)

ROMPEPROP "Menstrual Stomphulk" Mcd + advance "Hellcock's Pornflakes" tracks

Release date: 2002

Review:
If you've been disappointed by CBT or Mucupurulent lately, I think you should definitely turn to Rompeprop, from Holland... They're basic, perfectly executed, sharp gore/grind à la old Gut/old Cock and Ball Torture (from "Cocktales")/Utopie, not to mention Impetigo and Macabre. Their riffs are sharp and solid, the drums are tight as fuck, with alot of catchy midtempos but also alot of of extremely effective blasts, there's a whole mechanical thrashing feeling (not unlike CBT), the sound production is also very clear and powerful, the best you can expect from a Gore/Grind release. Vocals are strictly sickeningly pitch-shifted, distorted gory gurgles. There's a prominent, tasteless sense of humor, typical of the genre, the vocals themselves are often intentionally humorous as well. You'll also find a Impetigo "Boneyard" cover version, pretty conventional cover choice, but still extremely effective as usual! Overall, one of the best Porn/Gore/Grind effort I've heard in a while. You gotta love the thought-provoking philosophy the band uses for song titles too!
I could also hear a rough mix of "Hellcock's Pornflakes" which is some more of Rompeprop great catchy midtempo Gore/grind... And well, what can I say? Everybody remotely interested in groovy Gore/Grind/Death à la good old Gut & Dead should look forward to anything this band has to offer!

Tracks: Int(i)ro(l), Dislocated purple stoma, The erected underwater necro clitstomper, Zuilzalf, Pelikanelul, Swarming of the cysts, The babyshitter Cuntlava, Boneryard, Crash test faggots

ROTTEN FAKES 3 way split with AGATHOCLES, SCRAWL & SEVEN MINUTES OF NAUSEA

(Ecocentric Records)

Agathocles Review:
This mini cd begins with 3 Agathocles songs, cover versions of bands I must admit never having heard about, being THE SCROUNGERS, PANDEMONIUM & CAPITAL SCUM... Very interesting songs, very hardcore/crust oriented, but still in Agathocles vein! To absolutely hear if you're a Agathocles freak.
Tracks:
 1)You don't know me(The Scroungers) 2)Wir fahren gegen nazis(Pandemonium) 3)Clutch the flag(Capital scum)

Scrawl Review: Know Scrawl? Maybe you heard their minialbum called "Q"? If you did, their songs in this cd are in the same vein: a strange but energic grindgroovecore, with average guitars and drums, but also some keyboards, a saxophon, a trumpet and a trombone. This may seem strange but I like it very much; Songs are fast, catchy & very short; with sometimes a few blastbeats; Vocals are even low death metal gruntroars. The particularity of Scrawl songs here is that they are cover versions of De La Soul, The Exploited, Terrorizer or Mission Impossible theme song! Then, really amazing and original! Not for narrowminded grinders! But recommended to anyone who look for new sensations...
Tracks:
 1)Ring ring ring(De la soul) 2)Don't forget the chaos(The exploited) 3)Mission impossible(Lalo Schifrin) 4)Dead shall rise(Terrorizer) 5)Good times(Chic)

Seven Minutes Of Nausea Review: And now here is the third and last band of this cool 3 way split cd... It's called Seven minutes of nausea. What is it? It's noise, pure noise. They pretend play cover versions of great cult hardcore/crust bands like Elektro Hippies, Lärm, Crass, Black flag, Ripcord or Satanic malfunction, but I don't think anyone will be able to recognize the originals from this nauseatic mess of distorted chaotic wreckage. You can hear some stupid screamy vocals upon the noisy back ground sometimes; it makes it pretty funny. The most amazing thing is that I like this shit! PureNoise amateurs will love it, but metalheads will probably hate it; Anyway, Seven minutes of nausea will stay it's meant to be: noisy...
Tracks: 1)D.I.Y. not D.R.I.(Electro Hippies) 2)Mother(Elektro Hippies) 3)Drunk freak(Lärm) 4)Shades(Lärm) 5)System(Crass) 6)Damaged II(Black flag) 7)No effort, no thought(Ripcord) 8)So strong(Ripcord) 9)Polic story(Black flag) 10)Greed does not feed(Satanic malfunctions) 11)Only stupid people glamourize America(Satanic malfunctions) 12)Nada(Olho Seco) 13)Redneck(Terveet Kädet) 14)Land of hope(Terveet Kädet) 15)State control(Poison girl)

ROTTREVORE "Disembodied" Cd

(Necroharmonic Productions - Sleazy 012)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 49:05

Review:
Necroharmonic keeps the great releases coming and gives Rottrevore the demo discography re-release treatment, the same way they did with Dr. Shrinker. This stuff is just really awesome old school death metal (with a touch of doom) freshly exhumed from the vaults, low-tuned guitars, heavy bass sound, guttural vocals, long mid-tempo songs... Listening to this, you can clearly hear this stuff is from the golden age of death metal, the feel of this era is simply unrepeatable... The material here comes from demos and ep's and comes with an awesome obscure, muddy but also incredibly heavy sound that fits the band's style perfectly. Just to give you an idea it makes me think of Bolt Thrower mixed with early Grave and Incantation, though of course Rottrevore has its own unique vibe. It's true this band has an atmospheric touch, their songs are not instantly catchy but they sure are slow and penetrating, you have to really soak into them and let this stuff put you in this dark and heavy kind of mood. Cd layout is also exellent and complete, with printed lyrics, great front art and glimpses to original covers, a cool band photo/flyer collage, etc... This release looks like a labor of love, it's really well-done. If you're craving old school death metal and are all out of material, definitely give this cd a try, it's simply all around terrific.

Tracks: 1)Intimidation 2)Dismal Hate 3)Spawn of Ignorance 4)Actions for Loss 5)Disembodied 6)Unbeknownst 7)Crude Domination 8)Ceased by Failure 9)Intimidation 10)Unanimous Approval 11)Conspiracized 12)Clogged Sewer Pipe 13)Disembodiedd

ROTTING FLESH "Submandible Lymphatic Muscles"

(Lofty Storm Records)
Release date: 1996

Review:
Rotting Flesh is a brilliant brasilian goregrind band. This debut mcd contains 18 tracks, including the 7"EP "Infanticious Monstrosities" as bonus... The music sounds in a way like Rot(from Brasil) or Napalm Death on "Scum"; especially the vocals(growls), but with a better gory touch. Songs are ultra brutal; with lots of blastbeats. The longest songs have a 2 minutes running time, the shortest ones are about 30 seconds...  Sound prodution is very good and the cover artwork is sickly and violently wonderful. One more brutal album to add to your collection. It's totally gory and visceral primitive grind! so I love it! There are some more boring death parts on some songs in the end, this is stuffs from their first ep "Infactious Monstrosities", slightly less good but still very interesting.

Tracks: 1)Suppurated inflammation of fecal excretor 2)Unincinerated inner-crematorium furnances 3)Phlebothrombosis(Intensive bloodsoacked on arterial ducts) 4)Blood carnage(Human flesh exposed) 5)Encephalic difuse enema  6)Consumed by neo-cannibalistic worms  7)Thoraco-abdominal traumatism... 8)Embryonic fecundation(Maceration Pt. II)  9)Bizarre anti-putrefaction embalming 10)Mucouteral maceration 11)Truculent(cortuse-cut) disembowel 12)Manifestation of chronic disease 13)Consumed by neo-cannibalistic worms 14)Decomposition of fetid limbs 15)Intestinal virulency 16)Mucouteral maceration 17)Cerebral haemorrhage 18)Malignant pulmonary cancer
