PIG DESTROYER "38 Counts Of Battery"

(Relapse Records)
Release date:
2000

Review:
Impressive, powerful, raw grindcore fury between Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Anal Cunt. Suffocating heaviness, relentless head-achy grind-blasts, maniacal screams and painful roars. Pig destroyer brilliantly handle the art of ultraviolence and noise. This cd is a blast. 40 minutes and 38 killer tracks including wonderful Carcass "Genital Grinder"/"Regurgitation of Giblets"/"Exhume to Consume" cover versions. I hear it's a collection of several of their previous releases. Anyway, it's a must-have for grind-buffs if you don't have their stuffs yet. The artwork is good as usual for a Relapse release, and the sound is really good too.

PIG DESTROYER "Prowler in the Yard"

(Relapse Records)
Release date:
2001

Review:
I didn't really liked this one as much as the "38 Counts of Battery" the first time I listened to it. This recording comes with a cleaner sound, and I really liked their previous stuffs dirty raw feel. Now it sounds alot more like Benmb albums out on Relapse too, but that's not such a bad thing finally. After a few listenings, this record really really grew on me, now I adore it. They have a sound of their own, some kind of sonorous universe, and their twisted weird lyrics widen it all, this record is truly a dive into dementia, and it's really impressive. I don't know exactly how to define Pig Destroyer, but they're special. I'd say say Grind in their own way, if that helps. It's not just typical stuff, but it's really ultraviolent and quite original. There's some Benmb in Pig Destroyer like I said and a bit of Agoraphobic Nosebleed too I guess, US Grind & Powerviolence like this... Anyway, "Prowler in the Yard" is definitely a major album to me.

Tracks: 1)Jennifer 2)Cheerleader corpses 3)Scatology homework 4)Trojan whore 5)Ghost of a buller 6)Heart and crossbones 7)Strangled with a halo 8)Intimate slavery 9)Mapplethorpe grey 10)Evacuating heaven 11)Tickets to the car crash 12)Naked trees 13)Sheet metal girl 14)Preacher crawling 15)Pornographic memory 16)Murder blossom 17)Body scout 18)Snuff film at eleven 19)Hyperviolet 20)Starbelly 21)Junkyard god 22)Piss angel
