PATHOLOGIST "Putrefactive and Cadaverous Odes about Necroticism"

(M.A.B. Records)
Release date:
1992

Review:
"Putrefactive and Cadaverous Odes about Necroticism" is the first Pathologist album after the release of a few demos, where the band developped a very morbid kind of noisecore ("Sexual Cadaveric Mysophilia" 1990 demo & "Medical Jurisprudence" 1991 demo respectively containing 385 tracks in 45 minutes & 974 tracks in 30 minutes!), they then turned into more structured gory grind-death with the 92 demo "Forensic Medicine and Pathology"(9 tracks) and kept it the very same way on this album. Cyklo's vocals are honestly some of the sickest I ever heard: guttural, gurgling, splattering, putrid, raw... something really stomach turning, but in the end maybe not aggressive and hateful enough... The music itself is vying with early Carcass elegant and visceral complex death-gore-grind style. The musicianship and technicity are decent and skilful, all the songs have a morbid and sick feeling through them, but apart from some quite catchy songs ("Progression of putrefaction part II" or "Carcass dismemberment"...), in the lump, the album is not abusively powerful... The muddy sound production is not helpful, and even the compositions, which are maybe to complex loose the force and impulse recquired to make a good grind-death album! Anyway this album is a MUST HAVE for any goregrind freaks, the lyrics are masterpieces of pathological art, as well as the cover (I rarely saw a so beautiful and artistic anatomical collage of cadaverous body parts!).

Tracks: 1)Malignant introduction 2)Open the dissection ward 3)Reek with suppuration 4)Cadaveric metamorphoses 5)Genital pathological perversity 7)Anatomical necropsy 8)Progression of putrefaction(Part II) 9)Decomposition of corpses 10)Carcass Dismemberment 11)Vomitory corporal dysfunction 12)Rotten outroduction

PATHOLOGIST "Grinding Opus of Forensic Medical Problems"

(M.A.B. Records/Radiation Records)
Release date:
1993

Review:
Pathologist strikes back in 1993, with this second grinding opus, very much in the vein of Carcass "Necroticism-descanting the insalubrious", but always with their own caracteristic cadaverous and macabre sound. Comparing to the first album, guitars are way more melodic, drums more retained and skilful and the sound production is slightly better. Vocals are although always incredibly sick, a great performance in regurgitative repulsive gurgling grunts; Song structures are always a little complex and lyrics are always written with medico-pathological vocabulary. Quite a lack of grinding velocity and power, too much moderation.. that makes it a little boring... but I am not so disappointed by this album, the songs are more worked out and the sick spirit is always present. The beautiful 'Cadavers in decomposition" artwork is a masterpiece too! It's their last release to date... but I recently heard about an upcoming third full length album, though the release delay is getting truly huge!

Tracks: 1)Paroxysmal prelude(intro) 2)Cannibalistic disfigurement 3)Putrescence 4)Cadavers in medical jurisprudence 5)Uterogestaion to abortion 6)Exhumed dead body 7)Infectious agonizing parasitism 8)Gynaecological sickness 9)Secretion of ejaculate
