PATOLOGICUM/NECROCANNIBAL Split Cd

(Rottenpyosis Records - Rotten 002)
Release date:
2005

Running time: 38:55

Review:
Patologicum follows a polish tradition for groovy and heavy goregrind, probably influenced by Squash Bowels & Dead Infection... Straightforward grind riffs, downtuned guitars, prominent bass lines, sick throaty gurgles and pitch-shifted growls, pounding drumming... Pretty good balance between catchy midtempos and blasting parts, and a really good, clean sound production! The band members look like total geeks on their picture, but that doesn't stop this band from playing top notch goregrind! Also reminds me of Purulent Spermcanal or old Malignant Tumour! A couple of samples from City of the Living Dead & Zombi Holocaust...
Necrocannibal is in a more blasting, downtuned brutal death metal vein: deep guttural growls, programmed drumming, lots of chugging and sometimes amorphous guitar riffs... Guitar sound is pretty distorted but still heavy... Overall, this is fairly routine stuff in the vein of Mortician or Devourment... Real heavy kind of stuff, often pretty catchy especially on the midtempo stuff, but well, it's just not distinctive at all and lacks an original edge... Still, enough work went into these songs to make it worth a listen I guess!
Layout of this cd is pretty damn awful, but this is pro-printed stuff, sound quality is fair and I digged Patologicum alright!

PILE OF EGGS "The Egg Files" Cd

(Eggscab Records)
Release date:
1999

Review:
Here we have a very productive, original and unforseeable noise-grind band from USA. They have about 20 demo tapes and split tapes out since early 90's, the line-up is seemingly perpetually changing, there's only Steve Eggs who stands up as front guy in the band from the beginning; a little like Robert Deathrage and his stupid Meatshits. This cd compiles many different recordings from live shows and rehearsals (I don't think anything was recorded in some big expensive studio!); The sound quality also changes alot. Be sure this isn't easy listening stuff. You can never expect the same kind of things from Pile Of Eggs, the shit ranges from abstract inconsistent fucking harsh noisecore, with totally raw dissonent larsen-ridden guitar mess, convincing shitty drum looseness and impromtu hateful growling and screaming vocals reeking of putrid faecal matter and festering diarrhoea; to more structured yet incredibly raw grind songs; which are the one I like the most, coz I'm not that fond of pure uncontrolled noise, except here it's a lot of fun. The funniest moment (but the least noisy & grindy) of this record is probably "Lets dig up G.G.'s grave" (check it out). My favourite songs are although tracks like "Powerful karate chop", "Why is she so stupid???" because of the great raw guitar sound and the more coherent, catchy grindy feel. I liked "A juice-e bowl of lips" very much too because of the great vocal effects. Well, lyrically, Pile Of Eggs is not really about philosophy, I may say they condense a good ton of pathethic human stupidity. But they have a strong freedom of interpretation in the noise they play, a terminal bad taste, and a sticky sense of stinky humour, more than most of all the noise-grind bands around today, they are also able to do all the experiments and crazy things they want to do, some songs are totally experimental, unbearable and crazy. The outro is great too check it out. Yeah, well; they self-produce all their shit. That's a courageous thing I think. Write to Steve Eggs, all his tapes are unlimited editions, available for $3 each or 4 for $10. This cd is only $5 each or 10 for $25! I'm not sure if the price is the same for european freaks, so be sure to write or e-mail Steve before!

Tracks: 1)Intro 2)Laughing at you a.k.a (cows tripping) 3)Pile of eggs 1st live show 4)Oooo waa chic-e chic-e 5)Powerful karate chop 6)Why is she so stupid??? 7)I'm a fucking grub 8)Bullshit artist 9)The sounds of crazy alien creatures destroying the world 10)Oooowwa 11)A juice-e bowl of lips 12)Gargling staples 13)Running to the toilet seat 14)Borg 15)Lets dig up G.G.'s grave 16)Back n' forth jam 17)We don't belong in society 18)Dude man 19)Screaming makes me feel better 20)Stink 21)The outro

PLASMA "Gorefuck" Cdr

Release date: 2001
Running time: 32:54

Plasma Review:
That's just neat, disgusting gore-grind from Germany. Hideous Grind-Death fed by gore movies and pathological nightmares. It may sound a little slap-dash, but it's a true gore glory to me. Sickening Vocal Effects extravaganza, nasty stuff that sounds like something between flushing toilets, a growling stomach and a tough innards regurgitation. The thrashy guitars are catchy, if a tad messy, and the drums are very basic, but I just enjoy the ride, guided by the sweet sound of crass gore... The closest thing to Plasma I heard was Dead Infection on their first demo, "World full of remains" (a demo I absolutely adore) and also Cadaverous Suppuration (& Carnal Shroud). I could also cite Gut, Cock & Ball Torture, Creamface, Purulent Spermcanal, Pathologist... stuffs like that. It's not the best or fastest Gore-Grind ever, but it's stuff worth listening for gore freaks. The first 8 tracks have a quite clear sound and the rest, which are bonus tracks from an earlier Plasma tape are definitely rawer, with some kind of mp3 sound quality, but it's quite great stuff too, I liked it alot, especially the sick vocals again. For the drums, I think the last 6 tracks are programmed drums, but the 8 first ones sound like real drumming, or anyway it's hard to tell if it's a drum machine. I think it's a demo Cd, Plasma can get better, put more muscle into it (faster!), but it's really really satisfying stuff already. The running time is honest, there's a color cover, you've got a few neat gore movie intros thrown in the mix... That's all good stuff to me.

Tracks: 1)Koprostatic cunt katharr 2)Larva infested clitoral melanom 3)Saprogenic vaginal canal 4)Drastic totalextirpation of female genital 5)Sordes and pus in vaginal gore 6)Imminent vulva dissection 7)Feast upon carcinogenic vaginal tissue 8)Purulent inflamation of clitoral abscess 9)Metrektomie 10)Unrecognized decapitated crania 11)Corpse devourer 12)Extirpated vagina 13)Malodorous inquest 14)Ulcerating vagina

PUNISHED EARTH "Frankenstein"

(Uxicon Records)
Release date:
May 2000
Running time: 32:54

Review:
Cool new death-grind sensation from Belgium. Some sort of powerful crossover between Blood, early Grave & Nyctophobic. Coming with 16 unrelenting songs of brutal pounding, angry growling, yelling, and chainsaw guitar riffing... Brutal death metal with a bit of grind, such a great big metal sound and catchy basic song-compositions. It eventually have a bit of groove too at times. The vocals are especially powerful, deep but aggressive guttural growls and some excellent parts with synchronised growls/screams. The guitars are very low-tuned, like Grave and Blood and they reach an impressive level of brutal heaviness. It's very good work. Amateurs of good death-grind, watch out the release of Punished Earth album on Uxicon Records

Tracks: 1)Awakening of the flesh 2)Under authority 3)Watery mouth at the first sight 4)Run amok 5)Decade of misanthropy 6)Final state 7)Religious suppression 8)The whale 9)New world order 10)Maniac with a skrewdriver 11)In the name of democracy 12)Supercial world 13)Desperate wishes (breakdown) 14)Pedofile in the neighbourhood 15)Punished earth 16)Weak is the flesh

PUS "Cases of death" Cdr

Release date: 2000

Review:
Scary finnish blasting death-grind. Always very gory, and heavy. Expect something very structured but brutal. With mostly unrelenting blast beats, ultra-deep guttural growls, catchy and grindy guitar riffs. I can't think of exact references, but Mortician, Malignancy or even Flesh Grind come my mind right now. If you like death metal in a blasting way, a bit grindy and very gory, this release should enrapture you. The lyrics and artwork are very cliché (witness the cover: it's the same one as Last Days of Humanity second cd), typical disgusting gore-grind-death stuff, but again gorehounds usually do not have any problem with that. Definitely give it a try.

Tracks: 1)Blood trickling stumps 2)20 sadistic intrusions 3)Phases of decay 4)Rusty scissors stabbing the chest 5)Coat hanger twisting your throat 6)Mass graves for kids 7)Sodomized
