NAPALM DEATH - NASUM/NECRONY - NILE - NOISM

NASUM "Human 2.0"
(Relapse Records)
Release date: 2000
Review: This album clearly works on a 'take everybody out of breath' mode. Songs chain up, and pauses between songs are so hard to notice it sounds like the whole set is been executed at one stroke, without any second take. Still, they also do have one of the cleanest, most elaborated and powerful sound production ever in the genre. Their infuriating grindcore style is always so progressive, like on "Inhale/Exhale". Out of the obvious violent/blasting priority, song-writing is also meant to be inventive and clever. It's as close to early Napalm Death intensity than to Entombed-"Clandestine"-era churning ingenious metal or to old Mob 47 fresh crusty-hardcore energy. Is it worth describing the kind of music they play? Well, it's perfectionist grind-hardcore with awesome metal sound quality, crushing-heavy anvil-guitar grind riffs, brutal tight drums, mostly screamy vocals with some backing low hardcore growls. Everything performed with unbelievable fastness, ease and fluidity. The lyrics are very pretty but the problem is that I do not always get their meaning, I'm not sure they all make sense. Anyway, freaks of past Nasum masterpieces will surely love it. Freaks of big sound metal/hardcore/grind can go for it blindfold too. This album can't disappoint. With a possible 'except' if you have a problem with 'too clean' sound productions, stylised cover artwork and well-spirited lyrics. Fuck it, Nasum rules! I bet you know where to find this record already, Relapse worldwide distribution is the best, you can't miss it!

NASUM "Inhale/Exhale"
(Relapse Records)
Release date: 1998
Review: Hell! This album is a real violent blasting slap in the face! I was expecting something more crusty, without the powerful grind style of the previous releases! But "Inhale/Exhale" is one of the most grinding and catchy records ever made. The lyrics are socially aware, very hateful... The music is not pure grindcore; sort of grinding powerviolent hardcore, with ultrafast tempos and only tracks with real short running time... As well, two extreme types of vocals: high pitched screams and lower shoutings, but something less growling than in "Industriaslaven"(it's the same guy on the vocals)... Anyway, the shit is recorded with a goddamn top notch metal sound... There's also something quite rare these times: it contains 38 compositions, but 38 compositions worked to perfection! Nothing written in a hurry... Nasum always manage to write quality grindcore, and record it with crystal clear sound! You noticed it was released by Relapse Records... so it comes with perfect packaging and artwork as always! High quality and straightforward brutality assured! A grindcore milestone!
Tracks: 1)This is... 2)The masked face 3)Digging in 4)Time to act 5)Disdain and contempt 6)I see lies 7)Inhale/exhale 8)Too naked to distort 9)There's no escape 10)The rest is over 11)Disappointed 12)Lägg om ! 13)You're obsolete 14)Tested 15)Shapeshifter 16)Feed them, kill them, skin them 17)When science fails 18)Closing in 19)The world that you made 20)The system has failed again 21)For what cause? 22)Fullmated 23)Screwed 24)Shaping the end 25)The new firing-squad 26)No sign of improvement 27)My philosophy 28)I'm not silent 29)The breathing furnace 30)Information is free 31)Burning inside 32)A request for guidance 33)Grey 34)Worldcraft 35)It's never too late 36)Du är bevakad 37)Blinded 38)Can de lach

NASUM "Industrislaven"
(Poserslaughter Records)
Release date: 1995
Review: Although this cd contains 18 tracks, the running time is only 16 minutes! Nasum proposes pure Grindcore here. Rumbling rythmic blasts, fast, heavy guitar riffs and brutal vocals(low growls + backing screams) are the specialities of this disc. All the songs are quite short and straightforward... without any boring parts! Except the slow instrumental song "Skithus" which bring some diversity to the whole album. Nasum reach the level of best grindcore bands ever like early NAPALM DEATH and TERRORIZER, this is a must-have for all the grind bastards!
Tracks: 1)Löpande-bands principen 2)Cut to fit 3)Fantasibilder 4)Distortion & disinformation 5)Brinn 6)Krigets skörd 7)Ditt öde 8)Ingenting att ha! 9)Revolution 10)Den mörka tiden 11)Forcefed opinion 12)Domedagen 13)Dold under ytan 14)I helvetet 15)Skithus 16)Söndermald

NECRONY "Necronycism: distorting the originals"
(Poserslaughter Records)

Review: This is Necrony's cover mini-album: first the cover and the title is Carcass "Necroticism: descanting the insalubrious" album... Always played with Necrony's own style (brutal grinding technical death metal with melody and heavy sound...) they cover; in order: 4 early Carcass songs, Impetigo "Dis-organ-ized", 2 Repulsion tracks, one Bolt Thrower, 3 Napalm Death and 1 Carnage songs... Sound production is powerful and heavy... Covers are perfectly played with brutality and technicity... Interesting!
