LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY "Putrefaction In Progress" Cd

(Bones Brigade Records)
Release date: 2006
Running time:
24:51

Review:
This is the first Last Days of Humanity album that features absolutely no intros and damn, it actually makes the band works so much better on every level! It leaves you absolutely no time to take your breath or recuperate... This cd is total insanity, just one hell of an intense, grinding ride! Last Days of Humanity kept pretty much the same spirit along the years even with a frequently changing line-up; it feels like this album encompasses all their previous releases, although with an additionally heightened speed factor. This whole album has barely any dicernable guitar riff in it, just a chaotic maelstrom of low-tuned 6-string mush and distorted bass kept together by Mr. Marc Palmen's relentless blastbeats, delivering one of the most intense blastbeat drumming performance in grind history... Despite sounding slightly mechanical, these beats are extremely impressive, inhumanly fast, precise, really clearly the star of the show here... The drumming is assured to leave you breathless... Vocals are actually helmed by a different guy (Hans) this time and he does a killer job, I'd even say LDoH vocals never sounded so good... It's basically the same old sickening, gurgling effected growls, but it seems to me that they actually show slightly more range than on the last couple releases... And part of the roaring belches even seem to be throw-backs to earlier vocal stylings (from "The Sound of Rancid Juices Sloshing Around Your Coffin...") Honestly, I listened to this several times and I can't remember any of it, this is because this stuff is actually really close to noisecore, only kept together really tightly by the drumming! The final touch to the cd is a hysterically funny 3 minute track of nearly non-stop blast-beats, that almost sounds like it's playing on loop (although it really isn't... at least I don't think it is...)... All in all, a perfect epitaph for this wild band that really tested the limit of visceral goregrind extremity and raw noise. This is assuredly the band's finest achievement and their most exciting release, to bad it's their last one, but stopping at your peak and leave people wanting more is always the coolest way to go I think!

LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY "In Advanced Haemorrhaging Conditions" Mcd

(Bones Brigade Records)
Release date: 2004
Running time:
7:25

Review:
So here's the latest Last Days of Humanity offering finally; It's hella short, barely above 7 minutes; If you were expecting a new full-length, that's not really it, although it should be coming next (presumably as the band's last, ever!). If their previous release (split Lp w/ Lymphatic Phlegm) sounded mostly like droning noise, this Mcd is much, much cleaner-sounding. As expected, these new songs are a full-on goregrind assault, aggressive as hell, with blazing fast drumming, blistering non-melodic guitars, cripsy bass distortion and grotesque animalistic pitch-shifted growls! Drumming is incredibly fast and swift (although the snare drum has one of those really thin sound). The band seems to be straying away from traditional thrashing/grinding playing developping into a pattern of undecipherable riffs co-ordinated by insane blasting rhythms... Some sort of organised chaos with additional savage gurgles/chomping noises. The thing is: sound quality is perfectly clear so these songs just rip through you! Intros are mostly autopsy-report type dialogue taken from horror flicks, pretty twisted and humorous... The whole thing is such a rush! A few minutes of pure madness, short but really intense... So just let the ugly shredding noise guide you... This is top notch goregrind in my book (which I'm still writing).

Tracks: 1)A Portion Of Pulpified Leftovers (1:26) 2)Fungating Sexual Orifice (0:12) 3)Multiple & Increased Lividious Layers Of Skin (0:45) 4)In Advanced Haemorrhaging Conditions (0:23) 5)Prefering Acidious Formats Of Disdischarche (0:30) 6)Fluidfilled Contents Exposed From The Abdominal Dysfunctioning Section (0:26) 7)Obscene Compulsion Towards Fecal Digestion (1:40) 8)Frozen Remnants Collection (0:32) 9)Suppurated Secretion Through Gestation (0:26) 10)Oozing Saprogenic Scrotal Liquids (1:05)

LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY/LYMPHATIC PHLEGM Split Lp/Picture Disc

(Black Hole - BHP 011)
Release date:
2004

Review:
First off, wow! Killer looking Reek of Putrefaction-esque picture disc... Once again, Last Days of Humanity delivers some intense, raw, blistering, inhuman, gory grind/noise... with totally non-melodic guitar onslaughts, repulsive pitch-shifted gurgling and growling vocals, chaotic blasting drumming. A truly apocalyptic bombardment of distortion and sonorous sewage! This has got to be the rawest Last Days of Humanity material I've heard since some of their early stuff! I wasn't even sure my record player was plugged right, it sounds so dirty! It seems to me that soundwise, perhaps the band has taken a step backwards, with a really hermetic sound now much closer to noisecore like Gore Beyond Necropsy... The side ends abruptly but Lymphatic Phlegm continues on side B with some of their own gore-encrusted pathological grind... Their sound is more than ever ultra raw and flesh-ripping, all the band's trademark elements are there: almost atmospheric grind riffs with tons of reverb, pounding drum machine beats, and vicious retching pitch-shifted vocals... This stuff sounds so obscure it feels like you're watching the bootleg video tape of a snuff movie filmed in an unclean abandonned basement... stuff like illegal surgery performed with rusty scalpels on patients under no anesthesia whatsoever... Be warned this stuff is quite noise-oriented, make sure you take some harshness. Otherwise, this slab of absolute carnage is in my opinion simply a must-have for all raw goregrind freaks!

LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY "The Xtc pf Swallowing L.D.O.H. Feaces" Cd

(Bones Brigade - BB018)
Release date:
2003

Review:
I'm usually not so fond of live recordings by grind bands, Last Days of Humanity pulls it off nicely though, the sound is pretty damn good, all quite clear but with a typical raw live edge of course... the trademark LDOH grotesquely pitch-shifted gurgling eructations take the forefront, backed up with some rough, thrashing guitars/bass and swift, blasting, speedy drumming. So, yeah L.D.O.H. sounds as monstrous as ever... and this cd is an amazing, unrelentling series of their grinding filth-songs. Hearing the earlier material in new and tight versions is quite fun (old favorites like "Ulcerated Offal"... and "Born to Murder the World" which concludes the cd in a most effective way), and I think I almost prefer the raw vibe of this recording to the production on "Hymns of..." which slightly lacked some of that raw thickness... A very well-made live cd in my opinion then. A weirdly visually pleasant and crisp layout, a sickening selection of real-life atrocities. That's about it... Last Days of Humanity is still one of the most uncompromising, interesting Goregrind bands around, this is a fine live cd and L.D.O.H. fans should get a kick out of it; I gotta admit I would have preferred a new studio full length effort, but hopefully, that's also coming up!

Tracks: 1)Zombie interlude 2)Excremental mess of fecal putrilage 3)138 min. body disposal 4)Slithered limbs 5)Gruesome face decapitation 6)Fermented gut burst 7)Sounds of rancid juices sloshing around your coffin 8)Chopped up face beyond recognition 9)Orgasmic abortion 10)Ulcerated offal 11)Lugubrious genital miscreation
12)Erosed int. purulency 13)Exposed mangled orrifice 14)Entangled in septic gore 15)48th cut 16)Excremental carnage 17)Decrepitated regurgitations in foetal leprosy 18)Carnal thrash 19)Effective impalement 20)Hacked into red mush 21)Xtc of swallowing torso feaces 22)A reeking pile of septic brainfluid 23)Grume collection of body parts 24)Rukkende mus 25)Necrotic eruption 26)Septic convulsion 27)Born to murder the world

LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY/STOMA Split Cd

(Through the Eyes of the Hated)
Release date: 2001
Running time: 13:15

Review:
Last Days of Humanity is undeniably the very best Goregrind band around these days, their latest stuffs are some of their best stuff. It's in the same vein as "Hymns of Indigestible Suppuration" only much better, more flow and more aggressivity and always as much sickening gore and grind rawness. And it's just really catchy, some of their older slightly lacked in the catchy department, but not anymore. I love the fact that their side is presented as if it was a vinyl ep with that sound between the songs and in the end; you know that vinyl sound... it's a great touch. Anyway, that's about it, Last Days of Humanity is the epitome of what great GoreGrind should be: barfy gurgling gore vocals, catchy, savage and basic as fuck grind structures and a Dead Infection cover, it's just the best thing in the world!
And then, Stoma: It's the perfect band for a Split with Last Days of Humanity. They're fast & heavy, raw grind with good death metal & crust mixed in. It's really great, it has the awesome grind feel of the best Agathocles & Blood stuff. Drums are really tight, grindy and a bit crusty, riffs have genuine grindness and rawness to them, it's extremely catchy. The vocals are basicly roars, grunts and screams, typical and most definitely effective. The whole thing has a vinyl-like rawness and it's the best way to experience the genre. Stoma is definitely a band to look closely, they're great!
Tracks: 1)Last Days of Humanity: Excremental Mess of Fecal Putrilage, 138 Minutes Bodydisposal, The End of Love (originally by Dead Infection), Grume Collection of Bodyparts
2)Stoma: My kid sister, Splattered fat bitch, Shit for brains, In grind we crust

LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY "Hymns of Indisgestible Suppuration"

(Bones Brigade)
Release date: 1999

Review:
The words "War, hate and misunderstanding" printed in the in-lay of this cd cover resume very truthful invariable standards of today society! All those little things making you wish that the last days of humanity come up the sooner the better! Well, this second LDOH cd album concentrates on all the sonorous aspects of typical grind-gore. Focusing on sharp, tight drumming, (precise fast blastbeat relentless pounding), dirty grindy guitar riffs and irritating, inhuman hateful gurgling vocals, denatured beyond sanity by some really hideous effects, deprived of any natural resonance... The sound production, the musicianship improved very much, as well as the compositions and song structures, which are more defined, catchy and incisive than on their past works. Last days Of Humanity although kept their horripilating, apocalyptic, noisy, splattering identity... A delight for goregrind and noise lovers! Their shocking, macabre "lyrical" concept through gory song titles lacks the originality, but always shows ambiguous and self-satisfying excessivenes, offering utterly abject variations on subject matters of the sickest kind... most of the time, inspired by their own anatomico-pathological disgust, and filthy human viciousness... Unfortunately, the song titles sound like having been written in a hurry and are sometimes more childish and funny than scary! The artwork composed of really unartistic real dead, mutilated bodies pix (a poor selection of pictures in my mind!) is not a masterpiece, but printed in full-colours (mostly blood red) which will please to gorehounds without much troubles... Yes, they also did a great job with the introductions! Not too pompous, just really gory and fine! (check the few ones taken from the best scenes out of Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2). Closing words are that they improved a lot since the last album, and did a wonderful job with a score of 23 kick-ass tracks smashing right in the face. A definite must-have for goregrind freaks. Check the mp3s. Get it from Bones Brigade.

Tracks:
1)Maggot feast on a swollen fetus 2)48th cut 3)Rectal bowel inquisition 4)Intoxicated 5)The taste of festering vomit 6)Consuming purulent sputum 7)From flesh to liquid mess 8)Reeking mush beneath each cavity 9)Orgasmic abortion 10)Catering from the womb 11)Acute palatable hemorrhage 12)Perforated festered scrotum 13)Stirred intestines 14)Wet remains 15)Purulent odour in stoma 16)Defecating anal sludge 17)Rancid tumour excretion 18)Wide open wounds on a disfigured 19)Hymns of indisgestible suppuration 20)Ulcerated offal 21)Defleshed by flies 22)Bowel exhibition 23)Raped in the back of a van

LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY "The Sound of Rancid Juices Sloshing Around your Coffin"

(Bones Brigade)
Release date: 1998

Review:
Maybe the album titles reminds something to you? It's a line used in the lyrics of a Carcass song called "Psychopatholgist"(featuring on "Reek of putrefaction" album)... Anyway, you can probably guess that Last Days of Humanity do not play grungy progressive hardrock; We talk about primitive non-technical bestiality here. Guitars and blast beating drums are played in a straightforward way: loud, heavy, fast and extreme; with inhuman pig-like growling/gurgling vocals(without efects) and high pitched distorted roars(with obvious use of harmonizer!). Song structures are very simple and sometimes fall into total noisy mess. The running time of each track is between 20 seconds and 2 minutes. Of course, here we have several sickening and morbid gory pictures for the cover art and packaging, as well as horrific splattering movie intro samples(I recognized one from Clive Barker's "Lord of illusions", and another from Wes Craven's "The serpent and the rainbow"); don't forget the gory and grotesque song titles, like "Hacked into red mush"(this line is from lyrics of General Surgery song called "An orgy of flying limbs and gore"...another reference?...), "Necrotic eruption", "Consumed in gore" or "Mucupurulent flesh feast".... In sum, I think that this stenchy album is a masterstroke of extremely vulgar goregrind! If you look for refined music don't buy this album... but if you're bored with wimpy/trendy metal, just listen to L.D.O.H. and get a severe brainwashing!!! 26 tracks of total bloody carnage for 36 unbearable minutes! Maybe the most raw and wild brutal band in the world.

Tracks:
1)Born to murder the world 2)Necrotic eruption 3)Entangled in septic gore 4)Slithering limbs 5)Cannibalistic remains 6)Hacked into red mush 7)Putrid mass of burnt excrement 8)The smell of the dead 9)Rancid cottered rectum 10)Blood spattered chainsaw slaughter 11)Submassive obliteration 12)Septic convulsion 13)The sound of rancid juices sloshing around your coffin 14)Liquidized disgirgement 15)Putrefying immortality 16)Carnal tumor 17)Consumed in gore 18)Drowned in septic guts 19)Cadaver breath 20)Excremental carnage 21)Maliignant haemorrhage 22)Mucupurulent carnage 23)Pro-rectal fermentation 24)A reeking pile of septic brainfluid 25)Disembowelment of scattered gastric pieces 26)Festering fungus infection
