ROMPEPROP "Menstrual Stomphulk" Mcd + advance "Hellcock's Pornflakes" tracks

Release date: 2002

Review:
If you've been disappointed by CBT or Mucupurulent lately, I think you should definitely turn to Rompeprop, from Holland... They're basic, perfectly executed, sharp gore/grind à la old Gut/old Cock and Ball Torture (from "Cocktales")/Utopie, not to mention Impetigo and Macabre. Their riffs are sharp and solid, the drums are tight as fuck, with alot of catchy midtempos but also alot of of extremely effective blasts, there's a whole mechanical thrashing feeling (not unlike CBT), the sound production is also very clear and powerful, the best you can expect from a Gore/Grind release. Vocals are strictly sickeningly pitch-shifted, distorted gory gurgles. There's a prominent, tasteless sense of humor, typical of the genre, the vocals themselves are often intentionally humorous as well. You'll also find a Impetigo "Boneyard" cover version, pretty conventional cover choice, but still extremely effective as usual! Overall, one of the best Porn/Gore/Grind effort I've heard in a while. You gotta love the thought-provoking philosophy the band uses for song titles too!
I could also hear a rough mix of "Hellcock's Pornflakes" which is some more of Rompeprop great catchy midtempo Gore/grind... And well, what can I say? Everybody remotely interested in groovy Gore/Grind/Death à la good old Gut & Dead should look forward to anything this band has to offer!

Tracks: Int(i)ro(l), Dislocated purple stoma, The erected underwater necro clitstomper, Zuilzalf, Pelikanelul, Swarming of the cysts, The babyshitter Cuntlava, Boneryard, Crash test faggots

BUTCHER ABC Promo Demo 2002

(Obliteration Records ORCS 037)
Release date:
2002

Review:
Here we have exciting jap Gore/Grindcore/Death Metal... formed by at least one Clotted Symmetric Sexual Organ member that I know of. The first 3 songs on this promo demo tape are recorded live, the sound is pretty amazing for a live recording though. The guitar is totally down-tuned and the riffs are between basic grindcore stuff and groovy old school swedish death metal, the drumming is damn impressive, very tight, with kick-ass midtempos and fast blasts, expect awesome expert drumming! The vocals are pretty fun and savage, a little reminiscent of old C.S.S.O. with alot of screaming, and a whole lot of gory pitch-shifting vocal effects! The result is a highly interesting mix of Gore/grind and old school Death Metal. In the vein of Dead (Germany), Gut, old Carcass & General Surgery. The rest of the tracks on this tape are earlier studio material (95/96), I'd say this sounds alot more like straightforward gore/grindcore à la Retaliation/Regurgitate, only more chaotic, with messy hysterical shrieks and sickening vocal effect extravaganza!! I think this band sounds really terrific, they have a very special, wild grind feel that I'm very fond of, and I can only hope for a full length studio effort in the future. They're looking for labels to release their stuff! Oh, and these guys are wearing gas masks on their live performances, don't ask me why!

Tracks: 8 songs.

BIRDFLESH "Carnage on the Fields of Rice" Ep

(Nuclear Barbecue Party/Rescued From Life)
Release date:
2002

Review:
This Ep is all about raging, catchy grindcore, but that's not unexpected from Birdflesh. Oh well... The stuff here is very intense all around, it blasts hard... then it thrashes hard... and then there are tons of wacky screams and bad-ass roars and yet more wacky screams. It blasts hard some more and all over again! You know the deal! Birdflesh always sounds great anyway in my mind, their stuff is tight and always stays pretty fresh. And you get a whole Ep of their stuff here. Yay! I'm not sure I get the cover, it almost makes it look like social grind, although the lyrics are still silly comedy stuff that's alot of fun. All in all, that's one great Ep we've got here. Of course, you get the good old vinyl colors marketing ploy... Order it now and maybe get a neat vinyl in white, color or clear versions, or wait till the repress and get a sad black disc... Up to you! Out on kick-ass label called Nuclear Barbecue Party...

Tracks: SIDE 1: 1)Napalm Gore 2)Suicide Kamikaze 3)The Land of the Rising sun 4)Anal Misery 5)Assbuttmen 6)Oral Hell 7)Gorilla Death 8)Goatboy 9)The Sound of the Hound 10)Harvester of Sorrow
SIDE 2: 11)Carnage on the Fields of Rice 12)Brutal Pregnancy 13)Paralysed Head 14)Race Behind the Rice 15)Samurai Overdrive 16)Murderblood 17)1000 Gorillas Unleashed 18)Rise from the Rice 19)Yota Komuza

LYMPHATIC PHLEGM/JAN AG Split Ep

(2+2=5 Records )
Release date:
2002

Lymphatic Phlegm Review:
I was never really blown away by this band but with each new release they grow on me. I see them as the legacy of bands like Exulceration with their gritty Goregrind, their sharp and basic resonating riffs and their vocals pitch-shifted beyond belief. The whole thing is quite simply well-crafted grind, with a lot of gore-encrusted distortion and terrific rawness and drum programming that's honorably catchy and energic. And also pathological lyrics. I'm not certain Lymphatic Phlegm's pathological notions are very accurate, but it's pretty entertaining all the same. All of the lyrics are included in the insert. My final words: Lymphatic Phlegm... A fairly good Grind act that keeps it basic and pretty exciting. As usual their sound is quite muddy, but that's most definitely a good Ep! Worth seeking out. One of the samples is from Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond", I'm pretty sure!

Jan AG Review: Jan AG (of... Agathocles) delivers pure, intense grindcore here, with a touch of blazing noise. Reminds me of Agathocles of course, but it also has a cyber/dehumanised touch à la Catasexual Urge Motivation that's most effective. This stuff is chaotic, grinding, extremely heavy, with distorted guitar sounds and a mix of raging shrieks and guttural gurgles. I found it fresh and catchy, even if the sound comes out very rehearsal-style, but in a infernal madness kind of way that's quite cool methinks! Nice stuff.
The vinyl comes with a great looking color cover and awesome poster size insert. You can get that from 2+2=5 Records...

Lymphatic Phlegm Tracks: 1)Intro: Endomorphia in Pathogenesis Imperfecta 2)Prostatic Affection Consequent to Blennorrhagical Urethrtis 3)Malignant tumour resultant from epithelial cells proliferation 4)Chronic nephrological collapse in multiple renal sclerosis 5)Malignant ulcerous - vegetative hemolytic streptococcal endocarditis 6)Chronic insufficiency of the adenohypophysis - dependent endocrine glands 7)Peripheric neuropathia in glomerulonephritis acuta

CSMD/DRUNKEN ORGY OF DESTRUCTION Split Ep

(No Fucking Labels/Spanky Planky Recs.)
Release date:
2002

CSMD Review:
Bass-driven grinding noise massacre, heavy as hell hardcore, nerve-racking guttural/screamy vocals... The stuff here is pretty basic overall but it has a suffocative atmosphere and pretty nihilistic energy. The closest thing to my knowledge is a band like Man is the Bastard. Sounds crushing and determined, but it also has an improvised feel. All in all, this band is pretty non-conventional, kinda weird and obscure sounding as much as it is destructive. Oh well, I'm not sure I'm making any sense. That's just neat apocalyptic grind/noise!

Drunken Orgy of Destruction Review: Drunken Orgy of Destruction... Well that pretty much sums it up! Noisy and heavy hardcore stuff. Fairly similar to what you can find on CSMD side! Maybe a little more focused, but still a lot of heavy bass, smashing grindy mess and hysterical vocals... Bang your head real hard on a wall and you'll get an idea of what this ep sounds like.

Tracks: DOOD Side: 1)PV2K 2)Floralshop massacre 3)Upper crust crumpet 4)Jock strapped 5)Dood it yerself 6)Evil Stan Demon

CAPTAIN CLEANOFF Cd

(No Escape Records)
Release date:
2002

Review:
Super sharp and effective grindcore/metal. Musically it's very much in the vein of say, Terrorizer, with something of a slightly melodic metal influence. Tight & precise drumming, lots of smashing blasts and catchy crusty midtempos... The major part of the vocals are extremely high-pitched shrieks and they kinda hurt my ears a little, but still vicious and effective. The backing vocals are lower throaty grunt-roars and those are just great. Sound is pretty impressive, very clear, heavy and powerful. Not much more to say about this, overall, this is one great release, excitingly grindy, fast-paced and well-balanced. Really satisfying.

Tracks: 1)Chemical imbalance 2)Scatfest 3)Adidas 4)Highschool-slaughter-epidemic 5)Uni wanker 6)Cracked skull 7)Air 8)Excess baggage 9)Rotting 10)Girth crisis 11)a.o.d.

BRADYPHAGIA/NEUROVISCERAL EXHUMATION Split 7"Ep

(No Escape Records)
Release date:
2002

Bradyphagia " Dread" Review:
Bradyphagia is a Cock and Ball Torture side-project, so obviously there's a lot of CBT in Bradyphagia. The guitar and drum parts are most similar to CBT, with heavy and groovy riffs and a mix of midtempo and faster drums. However the vocals are completely different. No, you won't find gurgling pitch-shifted sicko vocals here folks! They clearly opted for a more hardcore/crustcore/metal approach without any effects. It results in something close to the more crust-oriented Agathocles material or even stuff like Disastrous Murmur and such... I think it works really great and feels a lot fresher than Cock and Ball Torture. They dissed the porn imagery for weirder visuals and seemingly gore lyrics... The sound is great, songs are straightforward, effective and kinda original. Great stuff! The cover layout and visuals are done the same way CBT are done, so expect something really neat.

Neurovisceral Exhumation "Libidnous Humanicide" Review: Scary brasilian band indulging itself in... Goregrind! The most basic, nasty goregrind. It sounds a lot like some of the old Agathocles stuff ("Distrust and abuse" especially) something with that kind of great, obscure sound. Vocals are pitch-shifted like there's no tomorrow, guitars are down-tuned and drums are a bit all over the place, but very energic. Their songs tend to go in noisy places, but overall Neurovisceral Exhumation is quite focused and coherent goregrind that's intensely enjoyable. Suckers for sick pathological lyrics can also rejoice, the lyrics (printed in the inlay) almost read like the lost "Reek of Putrefaction" tracks. Just neat. Fans of Lymphatic Phlegm should love this.

Bradyphagia Tracks: 1)Excavate - Regurgitate 2)Rape no.3 (Soaked in Red) 3)Viscous and Delicious 4)Topskin 5)Devouring 12" Inch of Meat
Neurovisceral Exhumation Tracks: 1)The scraping and blowtorch incineration of a methastic rampant gynaecologic tumour in the colon-uterine wall causing restro-vaginal expelling of gory sewage 2)Thoracic effervescent gaseous enveloping mouldy cardiovascular phungupurulent bacteriologic septicemia 3)Forced felation in septic gonorrhea 4)Wrecnhed cerebro-spinal structure by the foaming infected aberant abdominal colostomy 5)Subcutaneous defleshment

INDUSTRIAL NOISE/STREET FEAR Split Cd

(Otite Records)
Release date:
2002

Industrial Noise " A un passo da morte" Review:
Brasilian Grindcore/Crust... That's very basic and filled with rage. Something a lot like old Agathocles. Pissed off growls and screams, typical crust-grind riffs and fast drums. Unfortunately the sound is very muddy and jumpy. It's an interesting band, nothing new but honestly very good in the genre, the dirty raw sound is just a bit distracting here. Lyrics are social crust-type stuff, written in portugese.

Street Fear: More grindcore in the vein of Agathocles here... Again, good, engaging, violent grind/crust stuff. But the sound is even worse on this side. If you can bear very raw sound, you might enjoy these 2 grind bands. The cd is pretty well-made with a lyrics sheet and all...

EVIL SEMEN Issue #2

Release date: 2002

Review:
Huh, I'm late for reviewing that, yet ironically, you can find in the very pages of Evil Semen an article that state that "I'm very prompt" to review what I am sent (huh... Very sorry!) Anyway, that is a great zine! A helluva bitchin' zine if you will. It strictly revolves around good grind and more generally good underground stuff. The better written zine around these days if you want my opinion. Reviews are interesting, honest, a bit severe and you can always feel the editor's strong opinion throughout the pages. Great choice of bands for the interviews too, including Macabre, Libido Airbag, C.B.T, Reinfection, Filth, Tu Carne, Fuck... I'm Dead, Lymphatic Phlegm... Plus mucho news, the reviews and so much clever words put together that it makes me dizzy. That's more than 40 pages. If you want a quality grind zine, that's the stuff! Highly recommended.

(I think it's only A$2/US$2/UK£2/2€ from...)

AMOEBIC DYSENTERY/DWARFOPHILE/GROSS/NECROBESTIALITY 4 way split Cdr

Release date: 2002

Amoebic Dysentery Review: Sleazoid gory grind-death. Basic grind structured songs, tight programmed drum blasts, thrashing heavy riffs, fucked up and weird amorphous pitch shifted vocal effects, sounds like vomiting mixed with the possessed voices from "Evil Dead" and the sound effects from the orgy scene in "Society". The overall is pretty tight, the sound is heavy and powerful. Some of the vocals are funny though, and a bit distracting. It's a great one-man gory grind-death act overall. Neat Gut cover version!
Dwarfophile Review: That stuff's pretty similar to Amoebic Dysentery, guitar riffs are definitely death metal oriented here though, the programmed drums are very uneven, not very catchy. The sound is although very heavy, vocals are pitch-shifted gory voices mixed with very stupid screams. It's ok, but it doesn't really deliver...
Gross: Great raw noisy grind as usual. Detuned bass (or is it guitar), fucked-up drums, gurgling roars barked in a demented and messy chaos. Quite special, harsh, improvised grind stuff.
Necrobestiality: Nice gory grind-death-noise. Gurgling, pitch-shifted sicko vox, raw guitar mess and pounding programmed drums. It's often pretty effective, sometimes a bit stupid and the porn/scat intros are horrendously disgusting. Not much talent but enjoyable, noisy and sleazy fun...

Tracks: A total amount of 45 tracks, not in the mood to write em all down right now...

ANAL PENETRATION Promo Cdr

Release date: 2002

Review: Tight, basic, fast & heavy grind-death. This stuff is a comprise of blasting programmed drums, heavy and thrashing guitar riffs, growls and shrieks. Some parts are a bit repetitive but overall, this stuff is very effective and catchy. The sound is not perfect, it's a bit muddy of course, but it's also actually heavy, everything's quite clear and well-rendered. Just well-made diy grind-death stuff in the vein of Brutality Reigns Supreme or even Fuck... I'm Dead to some extent. Maybe a bit of the good old Gut influence too. If you didn't figure it out yet, the concept is sordid porn and sleaze. The aren't too many intros, just one humourous one in the beginning or so... This stuff's definitely not bad.

Tracks: 1)All holes filled with hard cock 2)Smashed to an orgasm 3)Spermgerm 4)Jenna's confessions 5)Discrimination of the vagina 6)Sick penetrator 7)Raise your phallus in the ass of god 8)Cockslapped 9)Ejaculationism

SAPROGENIC Cdr

Release date: 2002

Review: Good, effective traditional brutal death metal here. Thrashing guitars, savage blasting, crushing doublebass drumming, deep guttural growls... Songs have interesting structures, guitars are well-performed but hopefully not too technical. I like the sound too, it's heavy and powerful but with a raw edge. I guess I like demo sound better. Overall, it's very good, typical death metal, something like Sepsism or Deeds of Flesh.

Tracks: 1)Foaming rectal seepage 2)Dripping metaphilia 3)Forcefed excrement
