Review: This duo out of Illinois plays a very unique mixture of strange sludge and raw dissonant metal, with some enraged blistering, gory moments. This stuff is mostly moderately paced and goes for an atmospheric, trippy, raw and saturating approach... Bass is often very prominent sometimes backed up with a wall of distorted guitars, some fiendish, raucous shrieking vocals (also some cool pitch-shifted gurgling backing vocals on occasion) and groovy drumming, mostly pretty slow but often quite catchy. There's a very nice work on harsh and lofi sound textures, song writing is so incredibly inventive, the whole album is very disturbingly moody, the kind of stuff that goes under your skin... Sloth or Today is the Day spring up to mind, with perhaps an additional Impetigo influence... By the way, Stevo of Impetigo did the artwork for this cd, and I have to say... Damn, how I missed his artwork! This stuff is very much in the styling of the cover of Impetigo's "Giallo" demo, kinda naive and insane and so fun... Just pure genius! The material of this cd isn't all brand new, part of it actually already appeared on the "BBQ of Brutality" Split Cd, I knew some of it sounded familiar. Anyhow, this is neat, abrasive sludge with true chemistry and a refreshing, twisted sense of humor and this whole cd is just very well-crafted.

STOMA "Scat Aficionados" Cd

Review: Here's the first full-length release of Stoma hailing from Holland: simply a very enjoyable and nasty piece of gruesome goregrind... Totally in-your-face grindcory approach to song-writing, complete with blistering speed, mindblowing rhythms, some great razor-sharp riffing, awesome distorted bass sound, tight-as-fuck fast drumming, sick shrieking and splattery guttural grunts/growls. Stoma actually has some pretty high standards in terms of grindcore song-writing! Riffs are pretty well-thought and effective, the drum work is solid, just all around full-fledged grindy musicianship. Sound production is quite clear but with a flesh-ripping raw edge, you can hear the guitar riffs perfectly but the songs all have a really nice crunchy vibe... I'd say it sounds like a cross between Agathocles at their most grinding & Regurgitate with a pinch of Gut. You'll also find a cool Extreme Noise Terror cover version in there which further shows the extent of their influences... As you can probably tell by simply looking at the cover, imagery and song titles are just plain vile! Of course, it's all done with a lot of humor, gotta love the band members photoshopped into bestiality, scat and cripple porn pictures... If you fancy sleaze and fine goregrind, you should eat this up!

Viscera "Edible Prolapse" Review: Weirdo grind debauchery from Australia! This band Viscera makes music out of totally dissonant go-happy riffs, rocking and blasting beats, hysterical screaming vocals and downright obscene lyrics... Something really screwed up and unique in sound. That stuff's not only fun to listen to, it's also guaranteed to make you feel sick in the stomach!
Grimness "Necrofilia" Review: This italian band gives Viscera a run for their money with some really sick, hateful shit... Actually I think they sample the shit-eating scene from Salo on one of the tracks just to give you an idea. Musically, this is pissed off, ultraviolent grindcore/noisecore, actually quite reminiscent of Cripple Bastards: short blistering songs with some furious screaming and shouting, a ripping guitar sound, speed-crazed drumming... Just harsh and hard-hitting stuff...

Review: This psychotic one-man act should be pretty well-known by now... On this ep, Decomposing Serenity yet again delivers its usual bizarre conglomerate of thrashing riffs, drum-machine blastbeats, rapid shrieking and grotesque backing growls... Nice catchy Impetigo-esque mid-tempo rhythms and schizoid impromptu hyperspeed grind whirlwhinds. As weird and insanely deranged as it gets! Like most of D.S. latest releases, imagery and lyrics deal with childish themes, lots of dolls, cruelty and perversion... A mix that's always creepy and effective. Inventive raw thrashing grind at its most disturbing... Appreciated.

TWODEADSLUTS ONEGOODFUCK "The Homoerobotic Adventure Squad Presents: Songs for Blasting Lasers and Fighting Evil Doers" 7" Ep

Review: The other thing I heard from this band is their demo cdr, it was called something like "the pinkest cd ever"... What about this ep? This is fun, experimental stuff, just twisted and eerie with some ripping guitars but also a great deal of cheesy synth sounds... There's quite a bit of harshness to it and also a few blasting/screaming grindy parts... Vocals range from oddball/kinda whiny to furiously shrieking. It's a bit like Mr. Bungle with an additional drum-machine grind flair. This ep is very short, as it's one-sided... But it's pressed on some very cool-looking, purple vinyl (with some kind of neat cloudy effect)! Overall, well this stuff is clearly not for everyone... But if you're after something different, weird and new, this should definitely fit the bill.
