EXPLODING METH LAB "Supplicant" Demo Tape

(Unit731Tapes - U002)
Release date: 2005

Review:
Here's a short but intense demo. This is inhumanly harsh noise with a smidge of grind... This stuff is screeching & crashing all over the place! It's pretty de-structured, although some sparks of life is injected into this chaos via grind blasts, over-saturated vocals and a nice variety of sound textures and filtery effects... As far as noise goes this is definitely not monotonous stuff... Tons of changes and rapid cuts, some obsessive movie samples also help keeping things interesting... An ultra-violent, hyper-charged, ham-fisted and sort of trippy noise band that really lives up to their name! This is a duo and the guy behind most of this noise, Mason, has been involved in things like Blower & Enemy Soil in the past... Recommended to noisefreaks or adventurous grindheads...

SUPER FUN HAPPY SLIDE "Super Fun Happy Demo " Demo Cdr

Release date: 2004
Running time:
11:59

Review:
Listening to this demo convinced me further than australian people are unable to play bad grind... This is super-energetic, incisive grindcore with sharp and extremely catchy riffs, awesome fast and gripping drumming, the first tracks have predominantly screaming vocals, although raw grunt roars and sick pitch-shited gurgling start to progressively invade the later tracks... Apart from the Simpsons intros and the hysterical rip on Blood Duster on Track 5, musically this is actually a pretty serious grind effort, just well-structured songs, fast, driving riffs and a great sense of speed and groove! The name Super Fun Happy Slide still fits the band perfectly, this stuff sounds overwhelmingly aggressive and crushing but this is the kind of grind that puts me in a really good mood. Sound-wise, this comes with a nice raw edge, a slight rehearsal vibe, but this is really clear sounding stuff, each instrument is perfectly audible and ripping at you. Overall, this made me think me of a mixture of The Kill & Birdflesh with a gorier spin on the vocals for some of the tracks... I'm telling you new bands like this, Garbage Guts & Roskopp on top of Fuck... I'm Dead, TDEBN, etc... really makes me think australian grind scene is one of the strongest right now! Well done!

GERBOPHILIA "Ouille Ouille " Demo 2004 3" Cdr

Release date: 2004
Running time:
10:13

Review:
Gerbophilia out of Switzerland plays tight and metallic grind, with bad-ass riffing, clear-cut song structures, catchy and pretty often fast drumming, wacky screamy vocals (as well as occasional pitch-shifted growls and shouts too) and a major sense of humor. Musically it reminds me of Agathocles or even Terrorizer at times, but the band doesn't take itself too seriously hence also reminding me of stuff like Gronibard, it's got definite elements of fun to it, going to such lengths as parodying the theme from Rocky or french singer Renaud (!!). The sound production is quite nice and clear, this stuff clicks just about right, although I must say the vocals are pretty out there at times... Anyhow, an interesting band, their stuff is simply enjoyable.

Tracks: 1)Lapoichien (1:58) 2)Ouille Ouille (0:26) 3)Gerboise (2:38) 4)Katalepsia (1:37) 5)Happy Meal (0:24)
6)Heeinnn (1:37) 7)Bouze de jackob (remix) (1:33)

VOMITROCITY "Sea-Sick" Demo Cdr

Release date: 2004
Running time:
8:58

Review:
This new Vomitrocity demo is a vast improvement over the earlier one I've heard, things have got a hell of a lot tighter since then... Styling reminds me of early Exhumed big time, with a slight Suffocation touch perhaps... Anyhow, that sort of Us grinding brutal death metal: Sprawling morbidly melodic riffs, fast-paced, convoluted song structures, raging and pounding drumming, maniacal shrieking and growling vocals... Some odd lyrics and imagery...

Tracks: 1)Sex-Deaducation 2)Triple Kiss of Death 3)Sea-Sick 4)Street Fighting the Dead 5)E.R. Tribadism

GONORRHEA PUSSY "Exquisite Lessons in Treating Feminists Through Humiliations " Cdr

Release date: 2005

Review:
This young german band, freshly formed earlier this year, is one of the most perverse thing I've heard in a while. I instantly give the band points for disturbing erotic imagery... The cover is adorned with detailed and sharp drawings of some of the sickest fetishistic S & M/bondage and torture situations imaginable... Ghastly and horribly mysoginic stuff for sure, can't help but getting fascinated by it though, sorry! This is great-looking art! The logo is also really neat, formed with female genitals, phalluses, viscera and exhibitionist nymphs... All of this springs Dead to mind of course. You also get a bunch of movie samples in the same nasty S & M spirit... Alright, enough talk about packaging... Musically? Well, this is really basic-sounding stuff, the band is still at an early stage and perhaps not totally mature, their style is probably not yet fully-formed but this stuff is already pretty interesting. Drumming is mid-paced for the most part, some blasts here and there but nothing earth-shattering... Vocals are totally pitch-shifted goregrind type stuff and guitars are very fuzzy and raw... Overall, I'd say it reminds me of early Haemorrhage ("Emetic Cult" era) mixed with early Gut (from their first demos and ep's) This band still sounds a little shaky but I definitely smell some potential here... Some more effort put into song-writing and more experience could definitely put Gonorrhea Pussy on the map! Sick freaks should definitely keep an eye on this one!

Tracks: 1)Introduced to the Highest Forms of Humiliating 2)Gonorrhea Pussy 3) Copremesis Lunchbag 4)Anal-Fistula-Tongue-Taste 5)Nailgun Castration (Part 1) 6)Incestcontest 7)Pinworm Diarrhea Shower 8)Nailgun Castration (Part 1) 9)Elephantitis Scat Playball 10)Epidermal Cyst Masturbator 11)In Rape... We Trust (Outro)

"We Came from the Future " Compilation 3" Cdr

Release date: 2004 (www.tempoblaster.com)
Running time:
22:52

Review:
This short compilation oscillates between mostly electronic-inclined bands mixing fastcore, hardcore, metal, techno, crust, grind and even something close to hip-hop on track 5 (Eletrocutionerds & Des from the Killaz)... Eclectic stuff for sure, pretty hit-or-miss for me, some of this stuff is maybe a little too 'hip' for me or something but there's enough dirty grind in there to keep everyone happy. The only bands I was familiar with on here were Fuck the Facts, S.M.E.S. or Mesrine... So, there's certainly alot of great new stuff to discover on here, although it's hard to pick one from another from such short songs. If you have a taste for violently bizarre and experimental things, definitely check this out. I was supposed to review another release from this label Tempo Blaster (the Electrocutionerdz/A Crown Of Amaranth split) although unfortunately I was simply unable to read the disc, anyhow releases from this label sound like stuff worth checking out... I'm not a huge fan of the 3" CDR format, I guess it's somewhat neat in a space-saving kind of way but just really not practical.

Tracks: 1)Anomalies (Canada) "La Machine" 2)Fuck The Facts (Canada) "Dear Shit Book" 3)The Smile Adventure (USA) "His thorn-torn brow" 4)swz VS Time Kills Everything (Canada) "Meth-Fecal remix" 5)Electrocutionerdz & Des from the Killaz (Canada) "Ice Pack" 6)Humanzee (USA) "The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" 7)The Mourningside Excursion (USA)"Crusted and covered, never to..." 8)Calvasse (Canada) "Le gout de l'Inde" 9)The Toilet (Sweden) "Shit is good shit man" 10)Gone (USA) "Truckface" 11)Everyone I Know Must Die (Canada) "Staring through the eyes of the dead" 12)Coma (USA) "Bundy's homes" 13)Karmassacre (France) "When they've burned down the books" 14)S.M.E.S. (Holland) "Cold Mus" 15)Cablebank (Canada) "Dead air" 16)Gruuthagy (Croatia) "Cybertrash razorheads" 17)Mesrine (Canada) "Moose" 18)Narcoleptic Riot Project (USA) "Dumping anabuse into the kegs" 19)A Crown Of Amaranth (USA) "Only a robot could dance to this" 20)Giht Shasie (Croatia) "We came from the past"

BÊTE NOIRE/BOWEL FETUS "Death by Static" Split Cdr

Release date: 2005

Bête Noire Review:
Noise, nothing but harsh, horrible noise! Intercut by short weird-ass movie samples... The "Death by Static" title on the cover seem to apply mostly to the Bête Noire side. This is industrial, amorphous, saturating type of stuff... Something to the effect of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre soundtrack cranked way up mixed with amplified sounds of a dentist drilling into your teeth...
Bowel Fetus Review: Change in style for Bowel Fetus... This is somewhat more typical stuff... Drum-machine goregrind, extremely downtuned guitars, pitch-shifted-to-death gurgles... Nice enough stuff, riffing is solid, the drum-machine is a tad monotonous-sounding but overall songs have a pretty awesome dark, heavy vibe to 'em, a great, sickening mood... Fans of Lymphatic Phlegm, Mortician, C.U.M. or Slough might very well dig this. Interesting cover songs of Impetigo's "Wizard of Gore" or even a Viscera song! Not the most original thing ever but definitely a noteworthy drum machine act. Well done.

Tracks: Bête Noire: 1)Cuntface 2)That Tenafly Viper Feeling 3)URA Kunt (for Derek & Clive) 4)Fly Digesting Toad 5)Outro (Street Trash)
Bowel Fetus: 6)Kaleidoscope Colonoscopy 7)Bowel Liquid Tea Party 8)Pre-operative transexual Support Group Meeting Goes Wild 9)The Wizard of Gore (Impetigo cover) 10)Soap-Eating fantasies 11)Cunt like a Rubbish Bin 12)Foreskin Mask (Viscera Cover) 13)Eye-Watering Rectal Infection

LINCOLN LOVE LOG "4 Hits from the Bong " Ep Cdr

Release date: 2005
Running time:
7:24

Review:
Here are 4 new songs from Lincoln Love Log... As usual, this is very catchy sludge, with a downright raw and dirty sound, mostly mid-paced although not without a fair share of raging and grinding moments, some hard-hitting drumming and punchy rhythms... And guitars that can be ripping as well as really sludgy and nasty on occasion... All that and seriously sick, distorted vocals... Just some really visceral kind of stuff. 3 raw-as-hell tracks plus a live track that sounds even rawer...

Tracks: 1)The Gurgles 2)Chorizo 3)Intestines (Part 2) 4)Dark Basement
