	Release date: 2004 Review: This band is going for a Dismembered Fetus/Anal Cunt raw, mean-spirited hategrind approach and the execution is convincing... Straightforward, basic songs, prominent bass sound, vicious guitars, shitload of distortion, extremely aggressive screaming vocals, chaotic drumming... And the addition of backing piggy growling also gives it a slight Gut/Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition touch at times... Well-rounded compositions with a right dosage of thrashing mid-tempos and raging blasts... Clear, concise and to the point... Sound is nasty and raw which is perfect for this style, still there's a certain downtuned heaviness to it too... Overall, just very nice sounding stuff, I just wish I could hear the drums a little more at times... Anyhow, there's a lot of cool-as-hell grindy chemistry at work here, Whoretorn surely is one of the most interesting bands from France playing this type of grind right now... 	Release date: 2004 Running time: 7:59 Review: Spunky Swedish death metal... This band contains members of Desperator & Scurvy so expect something in the line of these 2 bands. Solid song-writing, old school feeling, infectious rhythms, catchy and ripping guitar riffs, energetic roaring vocals... Sound production is pretty fine too. There's quite a bit of melody infused in the riffing, but mostly it's sharp and crushing. Songs are all more or less 2 minutes long and I felt maybe there was also some sort of grindy edge not unlike Birdflesh through this stuff too. And I might be totally out of line here but I was also reminded of Nembrionic, something about the vocals in particular... This is nice work, well-crafted and refreshing death metal with a welcome, twisted sense of humor! 	GRANULOCYTIC BLASTOMA "Dysfunction of the Uncontrollable Sarcoidosis" Demo Tape
	Release date: 2004 Review: Here's some seedy drum-machine goregrind from Thailand walking the same path as Lymphatic Phlegm... Obviously this isn't high art, but it's quite well-done, sound is clear enough, guitar riffs are very catchy and jolly in a typical Exulceration/early Rot fashion, drum-machine programming in diverse enough with lots of blastings but also some nice, groovy mid-paced parts. Vocals are pitch-shifted and sound extremely weird, distorted and alien-like... This band has some of the most ridiculous medical/pathological song titles ever, they sound like they're randomly taken from a book and simply don't mean a damn thing... But that's what's so great about them. My favorite has got to be "Iguana semen may caused Yersinina pestis and necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis"... Hilarious! Anyway, enough effort was put into this tape for it to be pretty enjoyable, just 19 tracks of harmless and strangely entertaining goregrind... I didn't have anything better to do so I typed the complete track list for you! 	D.O.D. "Chaos World" Tape
	Release date: 2004 Review: Obscure tape... What does D.O.D. stands for? A sticker inside the tape says "Department of Defence" and another one says "Disciples of Darkness"... So who knows? Musically, this is bizarre, harsh and raw extreme sludge/noisecore/grind... Sound is muddy, lo-fi rehearsal recording-style, guitars have an extremely filthy sound but riffs are still played in a thrashing metal way, vocals are oversaturating shrieks, drumming is pretty tight but the whole thing remains quite chaotic... the tape alternates between moments of sheer musical violence and calmer sludgy doom stuff... Pretty experimental and trippy sounding stuff for sure. Reminds me of Sloth and also perhaps lofi grind/noise stuff like CSMD... 	VOMITROCITY Demo Cdr
	Release date: 2004 Running time: 13:44 Review: Here's something very close to early Exhumed, I'll just label this one Gore Metal as in a mix of brutal death metal with a little bit of gore & grind... Carcass-type midrange shrieks plus deep growls, thrashing riffs, fast drumming... This doesn't sound too shaby, it's obvious some work has been put into this... Song structures are ambitious and all but unfortunately this stuff stays sort of unmemorable and at times slightly messy, just hard to get into... There's a clear attempt at writing complex riffs but they mostly end up a bit muddled into the songs... I didn't love the overuse of harmonics either, they become really redundant after a while... Anyway, sorry for all the criticism... This is definitely more than listenable death-grind and with some tightening up this could be really awesome... 	OBSCURE INFINITY 4-Way Split Tape
	Release date: 2004 Review: Carmina: Very nice brutal death metal, crushing heavy but quite cryptic sound, thrashing low-tuned guitars with a doomy, slightly melodic vibe, pounding doublebass drumming, some mid-tempos, some blastings, very throaty vocals... I like it, I'd say it's a cross between Vomitory, Incantation & Bolt Thrower, effective enough and enjoyable overall. Lyrics are apparently written in french, which is a nice change... Amethyste: More brutal death, sound has a rough edge but this is sufficiently heavy... It reminds me of Suffocation "Breeding the Spawn" era... Abrasive guttural vocals, dark thrashing riffs, even a few wild guitar solo's... Songs can be midtempo but eventually start blasting after a while, the doublebass drumming is prominent... This is perhaps all too repetitive, dragging too long on the same riffs, but otherwise it is pretty fine stuff for the genre I guess. Atrophy: Melodic and technical brutal death metal in the vein of I don't know... Maybe Necrophagist?! The sound production is fine but still quite obscure-sounding... The downtuned guitar sound reminds me of Entombed on "Clandestine" but musically this is more of a blasting, growling brutal death metal type of band, with on occasion insane guitar solo's and some very melodic riffs. Not really my fave type of music, but good enough for the genre. Darklord: The only non-french band on this split tape... This is australian black/death, and it's a demo from 1993... Sounds like a very confusing mess... Vocals are grunting with some pitch-shifting too, riffs sound improvised, with at times cheesy keyboards or crazy guitar solo's kicking in... Can't say I enjoyed this very much, but it has an OK atmospheric type of feeling I guess... 	MORTALIZED "Satanic Serial Murders" Tape
	(Bloodbath Records) Release date: 2004 Review: Ultrafast blasting brutal death-grind from Japan. Guitar riffing is effective and proficient, delivered with speed and technicity, with some mindblowing thrashings and a few insane solo's too... Angry growling and some very high pitched screaming, very tight blasting and bouncing drumming. None of the tracks are exactly memorable but they do crush! It reminds me of the old Vader demo's with more of a grinding Terrorizer-type speed and some additional screaming fury. Cool stuff, it seems like this yet another totally tight and musically irreproachable band from Japan! I'm guessing this is a promo tape as it contains various recordings, sound production varies but this is mostly just very nice and heavy... 	Release date: 2004 Review: Not my area of expertise... This is heavy thrash metal... Rammer comes Canada and play in somewhat similar style to Kreator or late Carcass, etc... Mostly mid-tempo stuff, relentlessly thrashing guitars, some melodic solo's, throaty vocals, catchy drumming... Nice stuff, very well-executed, pretty good sound, in my mind it could use a little more speed but overall this is awesome stuff if you're in a metal mood... 5 killer-sounding studio songs and 3 rougher live tracks... 	Release date: 2004 Running time: 25:50 Slancio Anale Review: Comedic noisecore/grind from Italy... This stuff isn't too bad, just typical Anal Cunt-flavored semi-improvised stuff... Harsh, ear-piercing rehearsal type sound quality, crude guitar noise, chaotic drumming and abrasive grunts and screams. You know the kind... You'll either love it or hate it! For anecdote, this band got in trouble for insulting somebody through their track list on this cd... (!!!) Kind of like Leng T'che... 	Release date: 2003 Running time: 14:09 Review: This is a Techno/Porngrind oneman act from UK if I'm not mistaken... This guy does a pretty good job at mixing metal riffs, pulsating techno rhythms and titillating sleazy porn samples. Definitely not one of the worst Libido Airbag clones out there. Vocals are distorted and pitch-shifted but nothing really extreme, just sort of funny and weird... Don't expect anything earth-shattering but if you like the style I'd say go for it...
