	PARLAMENTARISK SODOMI "Har Du Sagt "A" Får Du Si "Nal"" Cd
	(No Escape Records) Release date: 2008 Running time: 26:37 Review: Here Norwegian grindcore sensation Parlamentarisk Sodomi releases their debut full length cd for No Escape Records... I was excited to maybe hear new some material but this cd seems to mostly contains stuff from the one man band's two demos, but nevermind that, these are masterpieces in themselves and deserve to be heard over and over and over again. Only one song seem to be new if I didn't fuck up at comparing song titles... This stuff is the most perfect grindcore I've heard in a really long while, genius grindcore riffs ablazing, pulverizing rhythms and a roar of scorching vocals... All said and done in 27 minutes which is the most perfect length for a grindcore record too. This is like the "Reign in Blood" of fucking norwegian political grindcore. This particular cd has got a nice, thick glossy booklet filled with lyrics, picture collages of really nasty political satire; everything is written in norwegian so the jokes are kinda lost on me, the almost hieroglyphic font used makes it all look even more like alien gibberish to me... No Escape put out an awesome shirt as well on which the obscene artwork comes out even better than on the cd cover! Everyone get this stuff at all cost!!! 	REMASCULATE "Perversemonger" Cd
	(Unexpoded Records) Release date: 2008 Running time: 33:11 Review: This swedish band has had a couple of really neat promo cd's out before but this is their real first full length cd. I've often noticed that swedish bands rarely ever suck in terms of death metal and this is yet again the case with Remasculate: irreproachable song-writing, solid riffs ripping with precision, raucous vocals mostly in a lower range (which are kept lower in the mix which I can appreciate). Sound production is fairly clean, heavy and warm, a sharper, edgier for the guitars would have appreciated. Most of the songs are speed-oriented with blastbeats and d-beats bllistering away, they rarely go over the two-minute mark except for a few songs like "Well Hung Over" or "Boogie Man" which by the way really slow the pace down, the band throws a couple of broader metal riffs and is in turn my least favorite part of the whole album. Some songs almost resemble Blood Duster or Entombed blending extreme metal and rock n' roll too. The band seems to be caught between two instincts and directions... Personally I think the grind parts are really awesome and the best thing about Remasculate, with a vibe really close to Birdflesh or Jigsore Terror, etc... which I crave! This is just fun, groovy old school grinding death metal... The promo cd I have doesn't contain lyrics but judging by the song titles this is sick and gory stuff but with an obvious goofy sense of humor, complete with morbid puns and silly play on words ("Abscessories", "Flaturbulence", "Toilet Paper Cut ", etc...) All in all, a pretty nice and juicy album, definitely worth checking out... 	CIBO "ignorante" Cd
	(ZAS AUTOPRODUZIONI REC.) Release date: 2007 Running time: 32:42 Review: This one band Cibo is from Italy and plays crust/hardcore with very pronounced rock n' roll & jazzy accents... I'm not against this type of mix but the vibe here is a little too overwhelmingly nice and positive for my tastes. Cibo is almost like a happy go lucky, sugar-coated version of Cripple Bastards. Sound is a tad too clean-cut, somewhat lacking a rawer bite. But otherwise the band is pretty damn effective, songs are quite diverse and skifully crafted, guitar riffs are catchy & bouncy, you've got some nice flowing bass licks, catchy drumming (doesn't go faster than your average crust d-beat though). The most extreme element might be the dual roaring and shrieking vocals which brings out some similarities with bands like Cause for Effects or Le Scrawl, all attypical bands unafraid to experiment and blend some pretty antithetical genres. I feel like Cibo is lacking a little something to make their stuff really special, or maybe this is just not my type of bands... Otherthise this is quality music and definitely a solid effort for the genre... 	REPULSIONE/ARCHETYPE OF NOTHING Split 7" Ep
	(Grind Block Records/ZaS! Autoproduzioni/Miss Thrash Rec.) Release date: 2007 Repulsione Review: Repulsione plays nice, energetic grind/hardcore, quite fast, uptempo stuff, with blasting drumming with snare that kinda sound like... a frying pan! Ultra fuzzy bass, almost sounds like there's no guitar at all, and high, kinda wacky screaming vocals... The side ends with a Rupture cover to give you an iea of their influences and style... You can except plenty of raging, blistering energy here, I love the intense sound of the whole thing... The band's italian as is their lyrics which might be why they remind me also alot of Cripple Bastards... This is totally awesome blasting grindcore, a distorted, fuzzed out wall of noise for guitars, weird, effected vocals... Sound is piercing and raw but with a nice attractive texture to it. Songs are well thought out and structured but the overall vibe is almost close to noisecore... You can still discern actual guitar riffs, drumming is very catchy. Between songs are totally industrial noise interludes that cements everything really nicely. As for references it seems to have a touch of Sore Throat's "Disgrace to the Corpse of Sid", perhaps Japan's World and early Napalm Death of course. This is another talented italian band, I'm an instant fan of theirs after hearing this! 	VISCERA/INTESTINAL INFECTION Split 7" Ep
	(Noise Variations) Release date: 2007 Viscera Review: Behold the latest Viscera Split 7" Ep, back again with probably its sexiest and most sensual cover yet! This is yet another piece of obscene and totally insane, sickening australian grind; playing in a style that's totally unique and instantly recognizable. Fuzzed out bass sound, tight, rocking and groovy drumming, dissonant, bizarre guitar riffs, strident, yelling vocals and a putrid sound production... Somewhere between blazing grind and raw-as-fuck punk... Lyrics are totally vile, morally corrupt but still with a kind of nauseating poetry to them; and they're printed in their entirety for your delight here too. The stuff on this split are live recordings from 1994! Pretty harsh sounding then and slightly difficult to make out. These guys used to play some kind of grotesque, barbaric grind-death-noise with caveman-like growls, distorted, dissonant guitars, real fucking sloppy drumming... Most of it is pretty slow, mid-tempo with the rare grindcore blastbeats here and there. Doesn't sound so pretty to you? But the primitive quality of the recording and the simple, minimalistic song-writing remind me of Fear of God a little bit, which is good. 	INTESTINAL DISGORGE/LINCOLN LOVE LOG Split 7" Ep
	(Goatgrind Records) Release date: 2006 Intestinal Disgorge Review: These sick fuckers have been around for a while now, they made 2 full length cd's so extreme I don't think I've listened to them more than once... Anyway, as usual this is extremely weird, raw, noisy, chaotic and utterly grotesque goregrind/noisecore. You've got sleazy porn intros, rather blunt and sorta thrashing guitar riffs, insane pig-squeal-like pitch shifted vocals and their trademark absolutely unbearable, hitch-pitched hysterical bitch shrieks! Honestly I can't quite get into most of the songs due to the abnormal disjointed structures and the harsh vocals being totally out of synch with the music. Sound production-wise this is actually pretty listenable. And I really dig certain elements of the band, like the cool d-beat rhythm they throw on the third song (I think), I still need some hooks like that... and the goregrind aspect I really like too of course... Their newest songs posted on myspace seem to be more in this direction and sound that much more enjoyable... But the stuff of the ep certainly works alot more as messy, vicious, hateful, anti-musical, gory noisecore... Playing raw as fuck, sleazy, grinding sludge. It's pretty bizarre, nasty, relatively midtempo/slow but still raging and violent in its own way. Vocals are totally saturating and shrieking, guitar riffs are pretty dirty & sloppy. This side plays in 45 RPM weirdly, unlike the I.D. side, making this side real fucking short. 	ANAL PENETRATION "Spray for Jesus " Cd
	(Last House on the Right - HAUS 023) Release date: 2007 Running time: 26:42 Review: Hailing from Holland, Anal Penetration unleashes a mighty fine full length cd here... First off sound production is really quite nice and clear, especially compared to this one-man band's ultra raw early recordings. Style is Blasting Grind/Death. The guitar sound is still downtuned, fuzzed out and heavy. Vocals are all natural death growls and screams... Drums appear to be quite carefully programmed, with an emphasis on speed, blasts and more blasts! Tons of great grinding guitar riffs, flying left and right... No time to catch your breath, this is one intense little album. Almost no variety from song to song, but that's kind of the beauty of it... I must say that particular song "Fuck for Power" song is a total grind hit though! Overall, I'd say the whole thing is kind of a cross between Mortician & Drogheda... Grind with more of a metal bend and blastbeats, tons of blastbeats. Plenty of intro samples too that veer towards comical more than just sleaze and porn. 27 minutes feels almost too short but leaving people wanting more is a good idea too... 	ALTAR OF GIALLO "A Bloodfeast for the Dead " Cd
	(Last House on the Right - HAUS 046) Release date: 2007 Running time: 37:11 Review: Altar of Giallo is basically Gruesome Stuff Relish with a (very realistic sounding) drum machine... Which... is a good thing since G.S.R. is absolutely one of the best Grind/Gore/Death Metal band ever! Only one member from G.S.R. is in A.o.G. but the sound is extremely similar. The coolest, thickest, heaviest sounding down-tuned guitar riffs, early Carcass-style raspy shrieks with backing eructations and the occasional supercool pitch shifted growls! The band doesn't exactly focus on speed, but rather on catchy riffing and insane hooks... Songs still have tons of blasting parts that punch you right in the face, but the overall vibe is also almost doom-like with some really deep and crushing midtempo parts. Sound production is absolutely perfect, incredibly heavy, simply the ultimate old school death metal sound. Being called Altar of GIALLO, I thought this project would focus more on the subject of italian thrillers and slashers but broader horror topics like zombies, mondo movies and old school horror like Baron Blood are evoked here, in a really similar way to G.S.R. too; they also seem to have the same, really inspiring motto of "Sex, Drugs & Grind"! Layout is totally awesome with collages of italian horror posters all over the place... Final thoughts, this is just as good as anything Gruesome Stuff Relish has ever done, but I can't wait to compare this with the new G.S.R. album... A Bloodfeast for the Dead is everything I look for in a Grind/Gore or Death Metal release, so there you go! My favorite song has got to be "Godfathers of Mondo" so let me just leave you with a Mp3 of it!!! Mondo!!! 	INFECTED PUSSY "Gynecrology" Cd
	(IP001/1) Release date: 2006 Review: Kudos for one of the most stomach turning cover arts I've ever seen; I am honestly having a hard time watching this shit without wincing, ugh... This totally tasteless band began quite some time ago as more of a joke noisecore band putting out tapes with some of the shortest songs ever, using a plethora of samples, etc... But for this album Infected Pussy kinda "cleaned up" their act... Not one sample is used and the songs are now actually structured in a more traditional grindcore manner... The two most prominent influences I could discern are Anal Cunt & Agathocles. You've got raucous growls/Shrieking dual vocals, classic Agathocles-type straightforward grind riffing, pretty fucking tight drumming and a one minute and a half average running time for most of the songs... Also absolutely no pitch-shifted vocals used at all here if you were wondering (which is too bad really, I'll always be pro-pitch shifter versus more regular death metal growls!) Guitars and bass have a nice distorted vibe to them... They could use a little more beef/crunch/raw intensity in the mix... But this all sounds nice, clean and quite well-balanced... All things considered this is totally effective grind. Most of the songs are well-conceived with enough variety and groove thrown around... Really nice riffs, a decent blastbeat ratio, catchy midtempos, oh and also an hefty use of double-bass drumming... My only nitpick will be this might be a little too controlled, the best grind goes slightly over the edge into savagery, the band never seems to go all-out... Imagery and song titles is typical of french grind (think Gronibard, M.D.U...) with the most base, sickening, sleazy, perverted type of humor... This cd leaves me with a feeling of nausea which I guess is a good thing... 	ULCERRHOEA "Rise for the Downfall" Cd
	(No! Fucking Labels label NFL#20/Breathlike Violence Pro-Pit#01) Release date: 2007 Review: Here's an essential collection of most Carnal Shroud & early Ulcerrhoea demo releases... Both projects by Magnus who used to put out these neat little tapes through his own label Putrid Nausea... Raw, gritty Grind & Gore in the grand tradition of "Reek of Putrefaction" & "Swarming of the Maggots" with actual grind riffs, real drumming, gut-bursting vocals, just simple and effective grind, something you don't hear that often anymore... It's crude, slightly sloppy and filled with so much animalistic energy. The first 3 tapes here are from Carnal Shroud, which was the first incarnation of Ulcerrhoea... Ulcerrhoea began as more of a goregrind act with the "Start to Infest" Demo that was reprising some of the songs from the Carnal Shroud tapes in slightly "tightened" version before finally becoming straight up grindcore... There's a clear shift to more political topics on the song titles on the last recording sessions including in this cd, and the overall grindcore sound really took over too... It's interesting following Ulcerrhoea evolution as the band got progressively tighter, these last songs are so fucking harsh, fast and furious, with an intensity and rawness akin to early Agathocles or Fear of God. Before all of this, Magnus also made a couple of tapes with his earlier project Cadaverous Suppuration which are not included here, but the style was quite different and slightly less grind-orented so space-wise and stylistically it makes sense not to have them here. Cd layout is looking pretty fine with trippy artwork by Seanocide, but something like a collage of the old demo covers and some liner notes could have made this cool cd even cooler! Anyway this collection cd is a definite must-have. This release is a collaboration between 2 dutch labels, die-hard noisecore No! Fucking Labels label and a promising new one called "Breathlike Violence" which also has another release from Magnus' current project Netjajev SS planned... It has a raw, frantic energy and vitality that reminds me of early S.O.B. style thrashcore ("Leave Me Alone"...) mixed with the jazz/grind schizophrenic double-personality of Scrawl... The noisecore aesthethics and eccentric song structures seem to be of straight out of Sore Throat's "Disgrace to the Corpse of Sid" too... So the basic formula of Green Beret is grindcore at times bordering on noisecore with devastating blasting beats, ear-piercing shrieks, whacked out shouts coming crashing down on very unconventional and pretty comical video-game style synth keyboard parts and sound effects that wouldn't be out of place in a 60's sci-fi flick! Hilarious samples from Monthy Python's Holy Grail, Desperate Living, etc... are also thrown in the mix to great effect... This band sounds completely insane and chaotic but it all works and songs are always quite well-crafted, the riffage in the grindcore parts is solid and the comedy aspects are mostly refreshing. One particular song "The Garden of Green Beret: A Macabre Mock Opera in Five Parts" has no metal aspect to it whatsoever, it actually sounds like a song off the soundtrack from "Meet the Feebles"! This particular release is a kind of retrospective cd containing most of now defunct Green Beret's recordings (except a s/t cd which I really need to check out...), meaning various sound qualities, various degrees of raw, but it's quite clear, sharp sounding raw if that makes any sense... Only a couple of the tracks near the end of the cd are close to harsh noise (maybe intentionally so?)... My favorite tracks are the opening tracks which feature tight-as-fuck real live drumming... A drum-machine is used on some of the earlier stuff which still sounds excellent but you know... just not the same... Anyhows, these are nearly 80 minutes of pure grind/noisecore madness that come highly recommended. 	DIE PIGEON DIE "Ripped from V to A" Cd
	(No Escape Records - NE031) Release date: 2007 Running time: 17:28 Review: Here's yet another one of these australian bands playing slick, crushing goregrind... I'm not totally sure if they've done anything previous to this, but I'm pretty sure I've already seen them play on one of these amazing australian grind live dvdr was sent to me... The opening track gives off a huge Last Days of Humanity vibe, short song, blasting tempo, nauseous bubbling and swishing pitch-shifted vocals... As the album progresses more variety, structure and metallic accents are introduced though... The band starts using pinched harmonics and even breaks into guitar solo madness on the third track "Enlarged urinary tract neoplasm"... The band isn't afraid to mix the most basic and enraged grind elements with a bit of Carcass-type musical prowess and it works just fine I think, it just freshens up the songs and the band never gets repetitive with it. The band also resorts to catchy, groove-filled midpaced parts on alot of their tracks, following in Older CBT/The Day Everything Became Nothing footsteps... But the obligatory blastbeat ratio is never forgotten either... The band's got an unbelievable Will Rahmer-worthy sizzling, distorted bass tone, and a rather contrasting, sharper but still way heavy guitar sound, plus one of these piercing snare drum sound... And I gotta say the phlegmy, watery effect on the vocals is quite beautiful... Intros/Outros can be pretty surprising for a goregrind band, because of the more orchestral-type score bits used, I think I spotted one sample from Conenberg's "The Fly" to give you an idea (still trying to figure out the rest of 'em, damn)... All of them are very well integrated, in a pretty organic manner... Running time is pretty short but that's actually a plus for me, short grind recordings always seem to work better for me for some reason... The whole art and logo are quite exquisitely done by Jake (of Roskopp/Garbage Guts fame). I'm not sure what to add, so I guess that'll be it... This is fine work all around, simply top notch gut-churning goregrind/metal... 	NASHGUL "Humanicide" Cd
	(Crimes Against Humanity Records) Release date: 2007 Running time: 33:06 Review: Nashgul is one of the best and most interesting grindcore band to spawn from Spain in recent years, they have a similar approach to grind as their country mates Looking for an Answer... This cd is a collection of their one Split Lp & 3 Split Ep releases and pretty much constitute a damn nice complete Lp. Raucous growls, abrasive shrieking, pretty low-tuned, crushing riffs... Drums are blasting away, tempos are not strictly the fastest out there but I like the non-triggered, natural feel of the drumming... Rhythms are pretty varied with a little crusty d-beat stuff, of course a lot of blasts and some midpaced stuff . I wouldn't say this is pure grindcore, there's a slight death metal vibe in there, but the songs are fast, short, expeditious, riffs are catchy and memorable, not just a blur... Sound production is real nice and thick too, I think some added rawness could give the band even more edge though... The band sounds pretty unique and actually if I had to compare I would have to say Cripple Bastards is probably the closest band they sound like... But the band's influences seem to be a mainly both old/new Napalm Death eras and Assück... The lyrics are of the angry, social type, "sung" and written in spanish and translated into english in the booklet as well... But some of the band's imagery is also nicely flavored with horror, some short intros like the opening scream from City of the Living Dead, Night of the Living Dead (dubbed in spanish, that's pretty weird...), a bit of The Return of the Living Dead soundtrack, etc... The artwork and the layout are pretty stunning-looking. So, this is totally solid stuff, well worth seeking out for fans of quality grindcore & death metal... Tracks: 1)C.N.P. 	IMPETIGO "Horror of the Zombies " Cd
	(Razorback Records - RR40) Release date: 2007 Review: All said and done, "Horror of the Zombies" is probably my favorite death metal album of all time... It blends rawness, gut-bursting ferocity as well as atmosphere perfectly... The band gets as far away to technicity as possible and just writes simple, honest death metal in its purest form... Every little thing works like magic here. The cinephilic element also strikes a chord with me, Impetigo was just unlike any other metal band. The liner notes on this re-issue are amazing and you should be able to grasp the amount of passion that went into this band. They contain a lot of the band's history around the time "Horror of the Zombies" was made, in them Stevo (vocals/bass) dissects every song, explaining which band have influenced the band to write which song or passage/guitar solo (Master, Massacre, Repulsion, Autopsy & Carcass seem to be the most recurring names)... Not to mention tons of hysterical anecdotes, tentalizing mentions of lost songs and a detailed account of the whole composing and recording process... Stevo doesn't spare any details, he has a great memory and the whole thing is simply fascinating. I've already said it but I almost wish Stevo wrote a whole book about Impetigo! Another plus of this edition is the remastered sound: It's pretty faithful to the original, I'm mostly noticing a little more crunch with the bass and the drumming brought up a little more to the forefront. Honestly the original already sounded perfect to my ears, I really couldn't decide which mix is the better one but this version perhaps has a catchier vibe... There's also a great alternate cover art (originally a t-shirt design by Stevo which was also used on a more recent picture disc release) the original classic art is also on the flipside so you've got the best of both worlds; the only thing sorely missing are the original calligraphied lyric sheet... I thought I had read Stevo say no bonus track should be added to "Horror of the Zombies" not to break the perfect equilibrium of the album which I kind of agree with; but anyway you're still getting 2 bonus live tracks for "Defiling the Grave" & "Breakfast at the Manchester Morgue" here which sound awesome and are an excellent addition all things considered! Final word: this is an absolutely necessary acquisition, for Stevo's amazing liner notes alone, the re-issue of this legendary album by Impetigo is a beauty.
