HAEMORRHAGE "Apology for Pathology " Cd

Release date: 2005
Running time:
28:52

Review:
For once I've got an advance copy of something I might as well do an advance review... Bare in mind I only listened to an unmastered recording, so the actual cd might sound even better than described here on the day of release, ha! This cd opens with a movie sample similar to the one Ghoul used at the start of "Maniaxe", still didn't caught what movie this was from, damn it! Anyway, back to "Apology for Pathology", well it sounds very much like the continuation of "Home Sweet Morgue" & "Dementia Rex"... But the album has more of a Repulsion-esque, grind-oriented feel, with songs rarely running over 1 minute and a half, with the exception of the opening and the last couple of closing tracks which show some more thrashing death metal influences... The whole thing has a great flow and songs that are very nicely arranged, with some cool-as-hell breakdowns here and there. Guitar work is really some of the band's most intricate yet, with tight, well-formed riffing and an impacable inclusion of quick, blistering solos too... It's not like you need a description of Haemorrhage's style but anyway... Of course, drumming provides Haemorrhage's essential allying of grinding beats & groovier rhythms; the vocal performance is completely awesome as usual with Lugubrious' unique, very organic mix of monstrous shrieks, roaring growls, and splattery pitch-shifted grunts... There's definitely a darker, more natural feel throughout, but this stuff still hits really hard and really gets me excited... It's safe to say the band is still at the top of their game! Musically, this is some of their most accomplished work. After just a couple of listening, these songs already sound like classics to me, so yeah, I'd say this is yet another very memorable cd from these goregrind gods! Can't wait to hear this with the proper sound mix! If you check the tracklist you'll notice the band updates one of their older song, "Cadaveric Metamorphose" from "Emetic Cult" (on top of their O-Pus V of "Intravenous..."). There are also different versions of a couple of songs. I think "Fester Feast" appeared on a split ep before and "Feasting on Purulence"/"Disgorging Innards" were on the recently released Split Ep w/ Nunslaughter. My advance cd-r also has 4 other bonus tracks with a much groovier, fun vibe though these tracks might be destined for another entirely different release, I'm not quite sure... Anyhow, look out for this, it's gonna be worth it! Oh and I've seen some of the band member pictures that are gonna be used for this cd and erm... All I've gotta say is: Ana in a nurse outfit is a sight to die for, wow!!!

Tracks: 1)Posthumous Predation 2)Feasting on Purulence 3)Frenzied genital carbonization 4)Antemortem Thanatopraxis
5)Disgorging Innards 6)Excruciating Denervation of the Lumbar Spine 7)Cadaveric Metamorphose 8)Syndicate of sickness 9)Edible Necrectomy 10)Festerfeast 11)Intravenous molestation of obstructionist arteries (o-pus V) 12)Furtive Dissection 13)Surgical Extravaganza 14)Apology for Pathology

NEUROPATHIA "Satan is a Cunt " Cd

(No Escape Records - NE 016)
Release date: 2005
Running time:
65:13

Review:
What we have here is a spanking new album from this polish grind powerhouse! Pretty much an improvement on every aspect compared to their previous effort... Most instantly noticeable is the gorgeous cover art, as well as the awesome black & white interior zombified band member drawings (really eclipsing the awkward "Graveyard Cowboys" band photo layout...) And as you play this baby, the opening song greets you with face-ripping riffs, blistering speed, and a crushing sound production that fits the band's music perfectly: it's just superb, heavy but with more of a natural crunch than on the last cd. Musically, the band seems to switch between two different modes, the main thing being flawlessly executed, effortlessly catchy, hyper-energetic grind/death, short and to the point (at times reminiscing Repulsion with an updated punching sound à la Nasum or Birdflesh)... And the second being groovier, heavier death/rock type of stuff, very Pungent Stench and very Blood Duster (from which they even cover "Pornstiffi" by the way, openly giving away their influences). Honestly, the rock thing can be a little over the top at times, like on the track "Plan 9 from Outer Space", but for the most part it's pretty well-handled. Still in my opinion, the more grind-oriented styling is where the band really shines, an entire album of just grind would have upped my rating of another point... Song-writing is quite breath-taking, fluid, fast-paced, mixed with refreshing groove, all that with the addition of the impressively limpid sound production, results is some very superior grind! Vocals alternate between raging grindcore shouts and gorier roaring growls. The last half of this cd are bonus tracks taken from Neuropathia's old demo from 1998, this stuff is a sort of goregrind classic, nothing short of sheer genius, in an edgier, old school goregrind vein, with strictly pitch shifted vocals and bad-ass riffage, and it sounds better than ever here... I have some reservations about the intro samples though which I assume were added for this release (as I don't seem to remember the original tracks coming with intros); The samples on the first half of this cd work just great, but these bonus tracks are cluttered with intros often too lengthy and mixed way too loud compared to the music level... Really, the material is so awesome by itself, there really was no need for some additional intros... But that's just nitpicking... The final 3 Impetigo/Repulsion/Brutal Truth come with the rawest recording sound on here but these cover versions are still awesome, Neuropathia doesn't screw around with their cover versions, and provide really tight renditions, a really neat way to end the album. All in all, a first rate rocking grind/gore album and killer bonus tracks, definitely not to be missed!

Tracks: 1)Freaks On The Loose (1:34) 2)Satan Is A Cunt (2:38) 3)Satanists Come From The Woods (2:20) 4)Burial Ground (1:53) 5)Bad Boys Go To Hell (1:32) 6)Anal Journey Of Thomas Superstar (0:29) 7)Splatter Me Blood Red (2:15) 8)The Dinner- I Need Meat (1:47) 9)Clatter In The Coffin (2:37) 10)Meatman Tale (3:33) 11)Plan 9 From Outer Space (3:44) 12)Monster Fever (1:52) 13)Eat Your Shit (1:55) 14)Pornstorestiffi (1:36) 15)Vaginismus (4:42) 16)Day Of The Dead (2:02) 17)Stat Institution For The Mentally Ill (2:43) 18)Sperminator (3:12) 19)Ingrowing Agony (3:59) 20)Disgorging Foetus (1:54) 21)Mr Stench'S Story (2:10) 22)Cannibalistic Consumption Of Human Flesh (5:08) 23)Dis-Organ-ised (2:11) 24)Black Breath (2:59) 25)Birth Of Ignorance (4:28)

BILE "Camp Blood " Cd

(No Escape Records - NE 017)
Release date: 2005
Running time:
34:07

Review:
So Bile is finally back with their pretty long-awaited follow-up to "The Shed", and as expected "Camp Blood" is a solid slab of heavy, metallic Gore/Grind. A really thick, meaty, low-tuned guitar tone, rich, distorted bass sound, sharp drum beats pounding on the brain and ravaging, strictly pitch-shifted gory growlings. While drumming can be rapid at times, the emphasis is really on catchy midtempo cadences. Guitar riffs is pretty rugged with some thrashing accents, always down-tuned beyond belief and always accompanied by very bass lines, both with basicly equal parts in the mix... The style is pretty rigid and with as little variation as possible, this factor will either be a plus or a minus depending on your tastes; Personally, I think the album is really successful at drawing you in into some profoundly heavy distorted, sanguine sound textures... Sound production is irreproachable, clear, heavy and retaining alot of distort. I'd describe Bile as a sort of hybrid between Mortician & Utopie, with the radical down-tuning, concise lyrics of the first and gore-gurgling vocal jeysers and groove of the second. I've never been the biggest fan of the Friday the 13th series (apart from the first 2 installments) but these movies provide a really cool backdrop to the album. The intros don't add that much to the music, but some of them are simply a lot of fun, I like the Crazy Ralph one, as well as the final one closing the album; I didn't notice a "Kill them, mommy, kill them!" sample... A "Kill! Kill!" echoing sting from the theme at least would have been cool somewhere, though maybe it's there and I missed it; I'll try listen more closely next time... Cover art is a pretty astute reproduction of the original poster artwork inserting Bile's band members into the decor... The whole packaging artwork and layout is all very stylish and the cd comes in a slip-case adorned with some close-up details. Anyhow, if you're looking for a full length album of fresh, new, catchy, splattery Gore/Grind, you clearly can't go wrong with "Camp Blood".

Tracks: 1)Camp Blood (2:45) 2)Widespread Bloodshed (1:30) 3)Resurrected (1:33) 4)Boot Cracked Cranium (2:25) 5)Axe Wielding Killer (2:56) 6)Death Curse (4:01) 7)Bludgeoned And Beaten (1:57) 8)Dredging The Lake (3:19) 9)Crazed Stalker (1:55) 10)Blood Rorschach (2:12) 11)Bled Dry (1:08) 12)Deranged Facial Stabbing (3:01) 13)The Final Chapter (5:25)

AUTOPHAGIA "Mutilate your Enemy " Mcd

(Last House on the Right - HAUS 018)
Release date: 2005
Running time: 7:20

Review:
The latest offering from this greek solo grind unit kicks alot of ass! No intros or movie samples to dilute things on this cd, this is 14 uninterrupted tracks of some of the sickest splattering goregrind out there... Absolutely vile, gurgling, rattling beastly vocals spewing forth, ruthless, grinding, anti-melodic guitars, fast, savage, bludgeoning drums... Everything's said, done and wrapped up in a mere 7 minutes... How's that for a short cd?! This is condensed rage, straightforward, uncompromising, mean, ugly and purely chaotic. As usual, Angelos provides live drumming, elevating Autophagia beyond most other solo grind projects. Mixing is quite well done too, this stuff comes with a nice full, striking sound and some very prominent vocals. This time, the cd layout is also pretty nice, a few neat gore collages, everything in nice, classy black & white. A pretty interesting choice for cover versions with a couple of Sore Throat songs too. I really think goregrind of this type works great in small doses, it's just like a punch in the nose, very much in the spirit of Last Days of Humanity's "In Advanced Haemorrhaging Conditions"... If you need a quick fix of roaring goregrind brutality, that's the thing for you.

Tracks: 1)Sodomized Scum 2)Bath in Animal SHit 3)Gore Lyssa 4)Bestial Vulva Deformity 5)Psophymi Melynsis with Panucla 6)Abnormal Paramorrphose of Engephalles 7)Staphylococcus 8)Face Catastrophe 9)Gangrenous Chirurgical Akrotiriasmos 10)Man's Hate/Bio-Hazard (Sore Throat) 11)Necrophilia on the Dissecting Table 12)Neuro-Paralysis 13)Rancid Phlegm on Esophago 14)Destroy Music

FONDLECORPSE "From Beyond the Crypt" Cd

(Posercrusher Records)
Release date: 2005
Running time: 31:06

Review:
This cd is a collection of Fondlecorpse Ep's. Style is totally old school death metal with the helping of a drum machine, these songs remind me of bands like Sinister & Massacre ("From Beyond"), of course with a particular vibe of its own and the aggressivity level cranked way up. Awesome memorable riffage, twisted bass lines, assertive growling and roaring vocals, a few shredding guitar solo's and just all around ultra-catchy songs! Just quality song-writing and even a few moments of genius. A sensible use of horror movie samples add a great mood to the proceedings. Another great asset to this band is the cover artwork featuring some of "Tales From Uranus" Jake's best work... The designs from the 2 ep's have been reproduced here, personally I like to use the "Limbless" one as the front, heh, I just think this one's really hot for some reason! In conclusion, this cd is a really gorgeous package, packed with top notch death metal, stunning artwork, superb layout, complete lyric sheet, awesome photo collage, etc... Highly recommended!

Tracks: 1)Bits & Pieces 2)Formaldehyde Soaked Corpses 3)Kingdom of Rot 4)Into the Boglin Marshes 5)Forced Paradental Degeneration 6)Fucked Stabbed and Eaten 7)Impregnating the Comatose 8)Limbless 9)Dead thru Feedingtube 10)Razorback Attack + Rehearsal tracks

AMOEBIC DYSENTERY "Frothy Piss Drinkers" Mcd

(Deathgasm Records)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 21:02

Review:
Sick, tasteless humor, hysterical intros and in-your-face blasting brutal death/goregrind is what you get here. This is a 8 song Ep padded with a lot of bonus live tracks and it's limited to 100 copies so mostly for promo I guess. Anyway, sound is pretty heavy with thick, thrashing riffs, blasting drum machine, ferocious gory pitch-shifting growls and an overall pretty fun vibe. Songs are simply tight and catchy and this is all really enjoyable stuff to listen to! The sound on the live tracks is pretty nice too, the band makes a killer use of samples between the songs and the ultimate cool thing, the Nekromantik theme as intro for their set, now that's pretty classy!

Tracks: 1)Necrophiliaxe (1:44) 2)Wound Urination (0:36) 3)Corpus Crispy (Kentucky Fried Cadavers) (0:38) 4)Advanced Animal Turdcutter Domination (0:43) 5)Emphysema Makeout Party (1:19) 6)What If The Dead Body Was Drunk? (1:08) 7)Hospice Orgy (0:36) 8)Gastrointestinal Sandwhich (1:18) 9)Intro (0:47) 10)Anal Bead Bonanza (1:01) 11)Forced Cornhole Entry (0:48) 12)Untitled (1:22) 13)Mastrubatory Mastication (1:36) 14)Happy Dead Mothers Day (0:45) 15)Monkey Fucking Good Time (0:42) 16)Shotgun Blowjob (0:29) 17)Colostomy Bag Cafe (1:02) 18)Get In The Kitchen (0:58) 19)Spitting Up Chewy Chunks (0:32) 20)Untitled (1:19) 21)See What Puberty Does To These Teens Pt. 2 (1:39)

FECULENT GORETOMB/AMOEBIC DYSENTERY/DISGUSTING/TARTOPOILE Split Cd

(Deranged for Leftovers Productions/Rotten Foetus Productions)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 54:35 (53 tracks)

Review:
First up on this split cd is brasilian band Feculent Goretomb with some pretty tight, feral goregrind! The sound is raw but retaining a lot of clarity, with sick vocals, thrashing incisive guitars, simple but effective riffing, dirty bass sound, efficient drumming. Also noteworthy are a couple of pretty awesome cover versions of Agathocles and Impetigo (The "Maggots"/"Dis-Organ-Ized" combo!)
Amoebic Dysentery from US also plays goregrind on their 10 untitled tracks, with a little more brutal death metal influences and a drum machine. All the tracks are quite catchy, full-on blastbeat grind-death, with pich-shifted growls, low-tuned guitar riffs... Just very well-put together... (Although I thought the weird screaming killed the songs at times...) Crass humor and South Park samples abound here too...
Next is Disgusting and this is really... not so good. Sampled guitar riffs, blasting comptuer drums, gurgling pitch-shifted vocals. No real effort is put into the song writing and this isn't working as noisecore either, I don't think the intent wasn't to sound noisy here. This is disarticulated, messy stuff... Hard to find any redeeming features here, although it can be enjoyed in a Meatshits way I guess.
Tartopoil from France delivers 14 tracks of weird brutal death/grind and is not the worst band on this split cd thanks to Disgusting... Chaotic, blasting, thrashy guitars, guttural death growls. Reminds me of demo days Gronibard mixed with a sloppier Brodequin... The most catchy moment here is a cool Dead Infection "Maggots in your Flesh" cover version... A few french language intros from Last House on the Left & The Exorcist provide some additional entertainment.
Overall, a decent split cd, Feculent Goretomb & Amoebic Dysentery are especially good, this is mostly worth listening for these 2.

I SHIT ON YOUR FACE "Anal Barbecue" Cd

(Proud to be Loud - ptbl001)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 28:06

Review:
Here's a nice dose of crunchy, brutal, sewer Gore/Grind! Imagine something straightforward, grinding, raw, nasty, with abrasive guitar riffing, a prominent filthy distorted bass sound, gurgling, squealing growls and tigh-as-fuck, fast blasting drumming... This stuff has a sort of brutal death metal sound at times, but definitely delivers on the harsh, gory, in-your-face grinding department also. Songs are often quite short but well-though out mixing fuzzy, blurs of blasting noise with some pretty mean, incisive riffage on occasion... Sound production is quite clear but obviously with all the necessary rawness and distortion that's recquired for the style! Pretty cool movie samples but unfortunately no real novelty here with typical choices like Bad Taste, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hellraiser, etc... Most of this stuff has been used by Mortician already... Overall, not a masterpiece but a pretty solid offering from this sick brazilian outfit. The bassist of this band died just recently, too bad because his distorted bass tone on this album is really sick! Rest in peace buddy!!!

Tracks: 1)Beer, Pussy And Weed (With A Pinch Of Gore)... That's All We Need 2)Impassable Seas Of Manure 3)From Fetus... To Feces 4)Mutilate To Mastirbate 5)Brown Puke (The Tal Of An Obstructed Large Intestine) 6)Fibrilating Farts 7)F.F.F. EMBALMING THEATRE/TORTURE INCIDENT Split Cd

(Reverb Productions - reverb004)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 28:27

Embalming Theatre Review:
As usual from this pretty prolific swiss band, you can expect quality grinding death metal, very straightforward, heavy and with a definitely old school feel. Assertive and relatively intelligible roaring growls, nice and thick guitar sound and some extremely proficient, tight and fast drumming... While listening to this, it really stroke me how much this band sounds like Dead Infection from their "Start Human Slaughter" period! Add to this a smoking "Fear of Napalm" Terrorizer cover and that's it for Embalming Theatre excellent side... As always, lyrics are in the same reality-based dark humored horror vein...
Torture Incident Review: The other band sharing this split comes from Malaysia... This is pretty much in the same style, with 10 well-rounded tracks of raging low-tuned Grind/Death... Guitars are tuned in a slightly dissonant manner but the band delivers some pretty nice, competent riffage with the helpings of furiously pounding drumming and animalistic growling (which almost sound pitch-shifted although these vocals could as well be natural, I couldn't really tell..), this band has a nice aggressive thing going but at the same time their sound is quite warm and fuzzy, I like it! Overall, a pretty cool split release!

Tracks: Embalming Theatre: 1)Rape The Cadaver (1:04) 2)Buried Alive I: Undead In The Morgue (1:45) 3)Shoes Made Of Human Skin (1:15) 4)Someone Else In My Coffin (0:59) 5)Patricide. Fraticide. Suicide. (2:36) 6)Dead, Stolen, Hacked Up And Raped (1:31) 7)Smell Of The Mummified Baby (1:01) 8)We Ate Daddy (1:37) 9)Fear Of Napalm (3:03)

ROTTREVORE "Disembodied" Cd

(Necroharmonic Productions - Sleazy 012)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 49:05

Review:
Necroharmonic keeps the great releases coming and gives Rottrevore the demo discography re-release treatment, the same way they did with Dr. Shrinker. This stuff is just really awesome old school death metal (with a touch of doom) freshly exhumed from the vaults, low-tuned guitars, heavy bass sound, guttural vocals, long mid-tempo songs... Listening to this, you can clearly hear this stuff is from the golden age of death metal, the feel of this era is simply unrepeatable... The material here comes from demos and ep's and comes with an awesome obscure, muddy but also incredibly heavy sound that fits the band's style perfectly. Just to give you an idea it makes me think of Bolt Thrower mixed with early Grave and Incantation, though of course Rottrevore has its own unique vibe. It's true this band has an atmospheric touch, their songs are not instantly catchy but they sure are slow and penetrating, you have to really soak into them and let this stuff put you in this dark and heavy kind of mood. Cd layout is also exellent and complete, with printed lyrics, great front art and glimpses to original covers, a cool band photo/flyer collage, etc... This release looks like a labor of love, it's really well-done. If you're craving old school death metal and are all out of material, definitely give this cd a try, it's simply all around terrific.

Tracks: 1)Intimidation 2)Dismal Hate 3)Spawn of Ignorance 4)Actions for Loss 5)Disembodied 6)Unbeknownst 7)Crude Domination 8)Ceased by Failure 9)Intimidation 10)Unanimous Approval 11)Conspiracized 12)Clogged Sewer Pipe 13)Disembodiedd

DRIPPING "Brind the Suffering" Cd

(Necroharmonic Productions - Sleazy 013)
Release date:
2005
Running time: 62:23

Review:
This cd is a collection of Dripping's demos from 2000 & 2001 as well as a couple of earlier demos released under the name Cadaverment... What's to say about Dripping? This is really typical brutal death metal here... With pretty dark, somewhat complex songs, built on rumbling midtempos which burst into faster blasting parts at times... Obviously, you've got your deep guttural gurgling growls, some raspy shrieking backing vocals, thrashing and chugging guitars, pounding drumming... Sound is quite warm but with quite a lot of distortion... This made me think of Infester mixed with a little Suffocation and Demilich (clearly not on the same level though) Overall, this isn't too bad but honestly the cd gets pretty dull after a while, with some really meandering "technical" riffing... This all seriously lacks energy and personality, all the tracks bleed into each other, I'd be hard pressed to pick a song apart from the others... But Necroharmonic made a nice effort of producing a "discography" cd for this band here, and I guess some die-hard fans of brutal death metal might get a kick out of this...

Tracks: 1)Bleeding Virgin Whore 2)Decomposed Fixation 3)Schizophrenic Apparitions Of Molested Corpses 4)Inheritance Of Ancient Malignancy 5-12)Untitled 13)Temples Of Inhumanity 14)For Those Not Forgotten 15)Disembowelment Of The Throne 16)Life Is Uncreation 17)Bloodstream Desecration 18)Bring The Suffering 19)Beyond The Grave 20)Untitled
