- CADAVEROUS
SUPPURATION INTERVIEW
- (February 16 1999)
Interview
with 180° from Cadaverous Suppuration(Germany)
- Questions were
asked by myself(Pierre) through email.
- Hi
180°! How are you?
Hey
PIERRE! Well, Iīm quite fine at this morning...
- Well,
first, when Cadaverous Suppuration is born?
Cadaverous
Suppuration started out in the middle of 1998, so
itīs a quite young Band. Before CS I
used to play in a couple of other bands, but which
arenīt worth of being mentioned, most of them were
dedicated to Black metal in the style of early
Beherit and Darkthrone... But the other guys did
spend more time on doing childish-evil-
pix of the self than writting music. You know, Black
metal seems to be more image than music!!
- Do
you consider C.S. like a band or like a personal
musical project? Would you like that some other
musicians join with you to form a band with
traditional line-up? Then you'd be able to play live
gigs?
CS is a
band I think, with the difference that itīs just
done by one single person. Iīm not too satisfied
with the term project as projects are
ment to disband after some time, bands not.
- Can
you introduce the first demo? and compare it to new
material(on the Promo-Tape 1999)? How would you
describe Cadaverous Suppuration "music"?
Ah,
Iīm not so happy with the first tape, especially not
with the recording quality, I kinda fucked up the
Drum-sound... No, I canīt compare the old material
to the new stuff and Iīm probably not going to take
use of the old songs in the future. The
style of CS? Ah, PATHOLOGICAL DEATH/GRIND fits quite
well, doesnīt it?
- About
the promo-tape... It's not for sale... Do you think,
you will use this material for another release in the
future?
Of
course Iīm gonna use the new songs for forthcoming
releases! (IE a split tape with the US-one man band
SKELETONIZED)
- On
the promo-tape, you do not use intros/movie samples,
contrary to the first demo where there are plenty of
them... Will you use intros or not for the upcoming
releases?
I
didnīt really care about putting some intros/outros
on the promo, donīt know why. Yeah, Iīm deffinately
Going to use some samples from flicks on the new
releases.
- What
types of movies are you into? Are you only into
gore/horror movies? Do you have ONE very favourite
movie? Do you have fave directors etc...
Trash
all the way! I just love low-budget gore/trash flicks
like CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST , DAWN OF THE DEAD and so
on... My fave movie? Hm, hard to say, maybe
Nekromantik 1 by Germanyīs most uniqe film-maker,
namely Jörg Buttgereit!
- Do
you use forensic pathology books for inspiration in
the lyrics? or just a dictionary? or maybe you know
all the medical terms you use by heart?
I use
both books and stuff in my head But itīs hard to
write half-way correct medical lyrics without the use
of any dictionaries or books.
- What
are the bands you think being inspired by when
listening your own music? What is your actual
play-list?
I think
some of my music is a bit similiar to Pathologist,
old Carcass, but also some Impetigo-ish riffs here
and there. My curent playlist goes like this:
(In no particular order)
Celtic Frost - To mega therion
Dead Infection - World full of remains
Revenant - prophecies of a dying world
Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction & Symphonies
Impetigo- Ultimo Mondo Cannibale
Malignant Tumour - From Grindgore...
General Surgery - Necrology
Plasma - Molodrous Inquest
- How
do you compose the songs? Do you write tablatures? or
do know everything by heart? Do you write lyrics or
music first?
Usually
I first get an idea of a specific riff, then I record
a couple of drum-tracks which could fit well to the
structure of the idea. And the rest is really
different. Music first, then the lyrics!
- How
do you procede to record the stuff? Is there some
people who help you? Do you go to a studio? All recordings are being done
by myself. My so-called studio consists of one single
microfone, a cheap hall processor and some other
stuff, all done under the banner of the DIY ethics,
hehe.
- You
handle all the instruments for C.S. (guitar, bass and
drums)... (very well)... For how long have you been
practising? Is there an instument you'd still like to
learn more about? How do you rehearse? You must play
all the instruments one by one?
Iīve
played guitar since about 7 years now, for the drums,
ah, about 2-3 years I think. The rehearsals are like
the same as when Iīm doing a new song.
- There
are no vocal effects on first demo right? While you
use them on the new promo-tape... Did you only use
vocal effects on the new stuff? or is there still
some parts without? Did you already get a throat-ache
for having forced your voice too much?
The new
tape includes both normal and distorted
vocals. I got a bit bored of the vocals on the first
tape, so I bought a really simple voice-transformer,
and thatīs it!
- What
are the next plans of release? Is the the
C.S./Intestinal Disgorge still planned?
The
Intestinal Disgorge/CS split tape has been cancelled
due to some trouble from both sides. But thereīs
gonna be a CADAVEROUS SUPPURATION/SKELETONIZED
(Ultra-genius Death Metal!!) very soon out on my
label PNP. Also thereīre some plans about a
CS/Desecrator split tape on the label of Necrophil
from infected pussy.
- Can
you write something about Putrid Nausea? How many
people and who is now involved with the label? What
are the plans for the next releases? (Is the Impetigo
tribute cd still planned?) etc...
PNP is
a label toally dedicated to the underground
metal/grind scene. I canīt really say if the
IMPETIGO tribute album is gonna be released or not,
for more information on that, please contact Martin
of Shindy productions at: shindy@telenet.cz
Planned releases:
Sounds of decay - Death/Grind/Noise compilation tape
CS/Skeletonized - split tape
Iīm also planning on doing some merchandise soon,
just check out the pnp site for updates and shit.
- Are
you optimistic for the Cadaverous Suppuration future?
Do you think keep playing for long years to come? and
is releasing a full-length album one of your main
aims?
CS
without an end. My main aim is to do the music
I like! About an album, ah, maybe a cassette-album
somewhen, or a vinyl release. Compact Discīs are
okey for the daily use, but I think the lack of
dynamic on CDīs quite annyoing...
- And
well... that's about it! Please add your last
comments...
- Thanx alot for the
interview Pierre, keep supporting the underground!
Also Iīd like to thank all the maniax Iīm in
contact with, stay analytical!! The promo-tapes not
for sale, but you can get your own copy by offering
me a trade

- THANKS
