BLOOD INTERVIEW
(March 6 1999)
Interview with Eisen from Blood.
Questions were asked by myself(Pierre) through postal mail
Hi! How are you?
Fine, thanks.
You've been into the underground for a very long time. What motivates you staying involved in it?
I love the underground. You have close contact to other bands. Most music is true and much more brutal than the "big bands". I'm always interested into new brutal bands and I try to get many demos. We are proud to be a part of the underground.
3)There have been quite alot of line-up changes in the band... What is current line-up? Did you stay in contact with old members? What happened to them?
The line-up now is: CLAUSI-vocals, EISEN(me)-guitars + some back vox, TAKI-bass, VENTILATOR-drums. Since over 4 1/2 years we hold this line-up and I think, we'll end our life together!
Mostly we had problems with our singers for many different reasons. Martin "Chicken" was more into his own band Dawn, Alex lost the interest into this kind of music. We made experiments with a second guitar player, but that failed. Our old singers (from 86-88) had problems with alcohol, with their jobs, with a girl and stuff like that. We still have contacts to martin, Bestial Bernd, Chuck and sometimes Wenge and Alex. Most of them have not enough energy to stay in a band. Bestial Bernd is father now and has not enough time outside the family.
4)Then, what's up with Blood now? What was your last release? What are the plans for next releases? Is there a new full length album planned?
Our last release was the Blood/Inhume split 7 released by ourselves. We enter the studio from february 28th til March 7th 99 to record our 6th full-length album. Should be released in may '99 by ARS METALLI records. In March '99 we have to move into a new rehearsal room.
5)Is there still side-projects to Blood? What can you say something about Naked Whipper?
There is no serious side-projects of any of the Blood members. We spend all our strength into Blood. Naked Whipper was a project of Alex and members of the Death band Malaphar, later members of Nyctophobic. Very cool black/grind like Blasphemy, by N.W. is dead now!
6)I think Blood's musical style is formed of death metal, black metal and grindcore elements... Do you agree? Are you into all these styles? Do you have influences beyond these styles?
Where do you see black metal elements? We did one song which sounds a bit black called "Hell's Claws" for the split EP with Mystic Circle.
Blood is a mixture of Death and Grindcore. But a bit more Death Metal I think. We also like some Black Metal bands as Immortal, Emperor, Impaled Nazarene, Marduk, but not all the new bands who sounds all the same and no slow keyboard-shit. We are only involved into Death, Grind, some crust, some black.
7)Are you still in contact with Impetigo guys? I think you were good friends?! Have you heard they might be reforming for one release?
Yes, we were big friends with Impetigo, but then they lost the interest, but since a few months I'm in contact with MARK again. They will try to re-form for another album, but nothing is sure yet.
8)What is influencing Blood's lyrics? What do you want to express through them?
We write about gore, horror, nightmares, Satan and weird stories about things happened to us or we think about. There is no special meaning behind them - just lyrics to make the songs stronger.
9)You often release Blood stuffs by yourselve right? But do you look for labels to release your next records? Iron Records is related to Blood? No? What stuffs this label released?
It's a good thing to do a self release, if you have the money to do this. You can do what you want and no one tells you what to do, but for the next CD we found a good label ARS METALLI, which is a very reliable label. They does lots of promotion for their bands. They release some black metal, but also Death Metal. Their latest release was HARMONY DIES cd. Iron Records was only a name to put our stuff out, because my distro is called Iron Distribution.
10)How sounded your very first demos released in the late eighties? Could it possibly be re-released anyday?
Ha - the first demos are very bad and shitty noise stuff. They won't be re-released!
11)What german bands(old & new) can you advise? & What do you know about brutal underground french scene?
We have good bands nowadays such as Nyctophobic, Dawn, Immured, Kadath, Utopie, Necrophagist, Harmony Dies, Sanity's Dawn, Dead... and had great thrash bands in mid 80's as Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Darkness, Assassin, Dark Angel... But I only mean their 1st or 2nd releases - All new stuff of them is crap!
Oh, I know a few french bands like Inhumate, Blockheads, Violent Noise Attack, Disabled, Depraved, Loudblast, Massacra, Cabal, Morsre(in early 80's!)...
12)Well that's it I think! Thanks for your time! Please finish the interview with some closing comments!
Thanks for your interest and thanxx to all, who like Blood and who supported us. Death to false and slow rock star attituded Metal bands...
