Let's start with: How did you guys hook up with each other? What made you think the world needed another goregrind band? It seems like you (Ben) weren't in the band from the start... And you've also got Sperm Swamp as a side project. Is that still active? What about the other guys in the band? Do you all have other projects or bands, past or present?

Well, i met those freaks on the net a while ago. The guys were buying stuff from my distro at that time, and once, they told me about their new goregrind band Biological Monstrosity. i was really pleased to see at last a real ''goregrind'' act emerge from quebec's scene. We had a lots of grind bands here, but the closest to goregrind was Dahmer and Krush. At one point B.M. needed a new drummer and they knew i played drums so i went to their rehearsal space and they kicked out the other guy! Spermswamp was the only grind project i had at the time because i knew nobody around me that wanted to play goregrind. I still make noises with spermswamp, but of course now that i have a real band, i put more energy in the real thing.

What traumatic event turned you into a grind/metal freak initially? What was the first really extreme stuff you've ever heard that made you want to start a band? How long have you been playing drums/Whatever instrument?

The trauma that got me into metal and underground stuff started right at my first metal tape acquisition. It was Voivod - War And Pain. It just simply got me addicted and i still never cured that addiction. Since the begining i was curious about obscure bands and always looked deeper to find more unknown bands. When i was a kid, i was more into heavy metal/thrash stuff, but it's when i discovered more extreme shit like death metal, black metal and grind, that i really got the urge to get myself a drum kit and blast the fuck out with a band too. It's now been 16 years that i play drums in bands and i played a couple of other genres in the past too (death metal, black metal, grindcore). I even have 2 other projects with friends that are not metal or grind.

How did the split with MAC come about? It's really some of the best sounding goregrind I've heard in a while! Are you satisfied with how it all came out? Was it a tough recording session or just another day on the job? Did you get good feedback from goregrind freaks regarding this split release?

Thanks! We're really happy that you dig our shit! We were already in contact with MAC since a few years and it just felt like a natural thing to set up a split. Overall we are pretty much satisfied with everything. All the feedback we got is positive so we obviously did something right?!

Any particular reason for doing a DYSMENORRHEIC HEMORRHAGE cover song? Are you working on any more cover versions? Or any song you'd really like to cover in the future?

The idea just came while listening to D.H. in a drunken rehearsal. we decided that a D.H. cover would be fucking nice, because it would be really different than the usual goregrind-cover-songs-that-all-bands-have-covered-already, and we liked the idea that it was a one-man-band with beat box played with a real line-up. pretty enjoyable song. I don't know if we will do more cover song in the future, we are not really into covering songs of other bands, we prefer to work on our shit.

Any details on the full length you're working on? Do you know roughly how many tracks it's gonna contain? Will it be all new material? Any idea on the label that will release it? There'll be a CD & LP release?

The full length is still under work so all i can divulge right now is that yes, it will contain only new material. We haven't started to look for a label, we hope to find someone that would release the CD version and selfrelease the LP version.

I really dig the old school hand painted artwork approach on the Split with MAC... Are you planning to keep up with this style for your upcoming releases?

I don't think the full album will have a painted cover. But of course i would like to draw and paint more stuff for our releases. I'm really happy they used my painting for the cover. I really prefer hand made drawings than photoshoped covers. i wanted it the old way.

Do you also plan on doing more split releases in the future? Which bands would you wish to split a release with given the opportunity? Are you interested in doing something like Split 7" releases maybe?

Yes there's good chances that you will see more splits from us but right now the full length is our priority. Given the opportunity we would share a split with Last Days Of Humanity if Marc Palmen gets back to drums! A split 7" with BLue Holocaust? fuck yeah! If you ment with any other bands, see those cited below.

Is there a main song-writer in the band? Do you spend any time composing these songs or do you just improvise a lot?

Yes the main song-writer is Pat, he's the one who started B.M. and writes most of the material. We usually rehearse the new riffs together then improvise the rest.

How much live gigs have you done so far? What kind of places do you play? Did you play outside of Canada? Do you have any gig plans for the year 2012?

Since the begining of the band we only did like 15 shows or so because the scene is limited compared to Europe or the USA. We mostly play in bars or 'dirtier' venues like that one time in the basement of the Knights Of Columbus in Saguenay. Biological Monstrosity never went outside of Canada but we might have something going on this summer!

The early song titles/lyrics seemed to be in more of a pathological vein and written in english while the newer stuff is more like really perverted shit & written in french... Any reason for the switch in topics? Who writes this sick stuff?

There is no reasons for the switch in topics, it just depends on the inspiration we have at the moment or the amount of alcohol consumed. The new line-up definitely had some impact on ideas for song titles that's for sure.

Your sound reminds me of EMBRYONIC CRYPTOPATHIA alot, would you acknowledge them as an influence? Which other bands would you say inspire your sound the most?

Of course, we are all into E.C. stuff. We like their raw filthy goregrind but i think our main influences really come from DEAD INFECTION, REGURGITATE and LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY. We all listen to a lot of music from metal to grind and noise

It seems like there's a bunch of cool gore & grind bands popping up from Canada lately... What's your opinion on this scene? Any canadian bands you'd like to recommend?

Yes, i totally agree. Grind was almost a dead scene here but there's a lot of nice bands starting to infect the scene. Grind is still very unpopular here, there is never big events. Nevertheless we have solids grind acts now to keep it alive like G.O.D, HYPEREMESIS, POWERCUP, CARBONIZED 16 YEAR OLD VICTIM, HUMAN JERKY, GERONTOPHILE, SOIL OF IGNORANCE, VIOLENT GORGE...

Are you making these shirts yourself for your BLOOD & CUM distro? There's been the DYSMENORRHEIC HEMORRHAGE one lately... Are there any more goregrind shirts in the plans? Would you ever do another EMBRYONIC CRYPTOPATHIA one? (maybe with flashy colors like on some of their cd/record covers?!) I'm bummed about missing the first one...

Yes i print them myself. i'm really proud to have printed the D.H. t-shirts. i wanted a D.H. t-shirt for years and i just decided to print it myself. My next releases are a reprint of the first spermswamp t-shirt and then i have 3 other bands planned : THANATOPSIS, PATHOLOGIST(cz) and the filthy VOMITOMA. Expect some disgusting t-shirts, all only 1 or 2 colors, like in the old days!

What are the latest bands/records/whatever you've been digging? Any current playlist or band recommendation? What are the best grind bands around today according to you? How do you listen to new stuff most of the time, Mp3, cd, vinyl, tape or what?

the new bands that get me crazy those days are THANATOPSIS and STREPTOCOCCUS PYOGENES. Thanatopsis is extremly raw as fuck goregrind the way it should be done, and STREPTOCOCCUS PYOGENES are just the perfect mix of DYSMENORRHEIC HEMORRHAGE and REGURGITAE. There is also HIPERMENORREA from Mexico that seriously kick ass and of course ENBRYONIC CRYPTOPATHIA and GROTESQUE ORANG DEFILEMENT that fucking rules. ( j'espère que tu as aimé la cassette de G.O.D., c'est ma demo préférée!)

OK, that's about all I could think of! Thanks for answering this crap. Any last words?

Thanks a lot for the interview and reviews. Keep on grinding! Long live to Braindead zine!
BLLEEEEEEEUUUUUARRRH!!!!
