SOILS OF FATE
(April 26 1999)
Interview with Jocke, drums in Soils of Fate.
Questions were asked by myself(Pierre) through E-mail
1)Hi! How are you?
Hey, Fucking great man!!
2)First, I'd like to know why you choosed SOILS OF FATE as band's name? Do you think it fits well to your music style? And then, how would you describe your music style?
SOILS OF FATE was choosen as a name because it describes our music perfect. We play extreme, guttural blasting slaming metal…SOILS OF FATE is all about brutality in a new form.
3)Can you introduce your band to those who don't know you yet? With main biographical dates... Where do you come from....
Jocke - Drums
Henke - Bass/Vocals
Mange - Guitar

SOILS OF FATE was formed in early 95 by Henke and Mange. Later on Nicke joined in on drums and Trevor on second guitar. Nicke was kicked out of the band around christmas 97 and I, Jocke joined in on drums some time later…Trevor quit SOILS OF FATE in September 98 and since then we have been a really strong 3-piece.
SOILS OF FATE is a Swedish based Slam Metal band.
4)Please tell me about your new release, "Blood Serology"... How does it sound compared to "Pain has a face", the first demo? Are you happy with these two demos?
"Blood Serology" came out fucking great compared to the time we spent in the studio. Compared to "Pain, has a face" "Blood Serology" has put us on another level of brutality, We have all matured alot about what were about and I guess were all much more open-minded to experimenting with different styles. We all very positive how everything is turning out not to say the new unreleased stuff…
5)Who writes music in the band? How much time to spend to write a song? How often to do you rehearse? Have you been practising your instruments for a long time?
Mange and Henke writes most of the music an then we all arrange it and make all the final touches…
You can't really answer how long time it takes to write a song, I'd say a song isn't finished until it's recorded and published.
We usally rehearses 2 times a week 3-4 ours a time. I have played the drums for 8 years now and Henke has been playing bass for 7 years, Mange has been playing guitar for 6 years.
6)Do you already have new material? How do you think your music will evolve?
We're currently writing new stuff and as I said, we all know where were heading :
More extreme, experimental, faster and sicker, and I can assure you that our new stuff really slaugher it all…
We're all extremly sadisfied with our progress.
7)Is releasing a full length album your main aim for now? Do you look for a label?
Yeah! Defently, and then to play live. SOILS OF FATE is defently a live band. Well, we have an offer that we're considering but we haven't signed anything yet. Get in touch if you're interested.
8)Do you write lyrics, who writes them? I can't clearly figure what SOF lyrics deal with? Most of underground brutal band use gore, satanic/occult topic or political/socially aware lyrics... What about you?
Nope, Henke writes them all. We aren't interested in writing about satanic/occult topics. I guess our lyrics just deal with different views on death and everything around death.
9)Did you already perform a few live shows? If yes, can you tell me something about them? What can we expect of a SOF show? & Do you have plans for future gigs?
Yeah we have! Last show we did was an outdoor concert in Stockholm. That one was fucking intense man, even though the mixer guy fucked up our sound. We got a really good response from the crowd and they were all going fucking crazy. All our merchandise was sold out within hour after the show. Since their really isn't so many cool bands around in Sweden It's hard to put up a killer show.
Their are no shows currently booked but get in touch for booking.
10)Everyone in the band has the same interest for brutal music? Do you have the same musical tastes? What is your current playlist?
Defently , We are all devoted to extreme shit but our personal playlists doesn't really match each others…

11)What are(is) the band(s) who highly influenced your band?
It's really a question about which musicans that have inspired us through out the years that mirrors in our music.
Mine is to name a few, Raymond Herrera - Fear Factory - Dave Culross - Suffocation among others - Igor Cavalera - Sepultura - Thomas Hakke - Meshuggah
Henke and Mange is influenced by members from bands like: Broken Hope, Dying Fetus, Dream Theater, Slayer, Yngvie Malmsteen, Malevolent Creation and Internal Bleeding.
12)What are your interests outwards music? & Is there some movies you are really into?
Well, Their really isn't anything that approaches me like music does…But to name something I'd say Playstation, drinking and Bodyart - Tattoes and piercing. I'm really a fan of this French movie called Dobermann. That's a fucking awsome movie.
13)How's life in Sweden? & if I'm not too indiscreet what do you do in reallife?
I guess life in Sweden is pretty much like everywhere else except for the cold winters. I work part-time at a kindergardenschool and I also run a studio thats called "Studio Subwoofer" with the guys in my other band and I also do radiopromos there.
14)Can you name some good bands from Sweden? & what do you think of swedish scene?
The Swedish scene is so god damn boring…It almost only consist of all these lousy blackmetal bands and trendy melodic crap deathmetal bands but however there are some worth mentioning. Genochrush Ferox, Deranged, Uncreation and Immersed in blood.
15)What do you know of french scene?
Not much Im afraid, I only know like two hardcorebands and they are Out and Filthy Charity.
16)Did you already feature in some zines for reviews or interviews? Do you read zines? do you think they are essential support for underground music?
Yeah we're in several. We are interviewed in the upcoming number of Corpse Gristle, and we got a 4 -5 review in Terrorizer mag. We are also interviewed in several small/big underground zines. I think we all really love to read zines, their defently one of the reasons underground music still alive and growing!
17)Is there something I forgot to ask you? Anyway, I think I have to stop here! How can we get some SOF merchandise? What is the band's contact address? & add your last comments!
