How would you describe the music off the new album? How does it compare to 'Sinfonias Del Terror Ciego'? Do you feel it's closer to grind or death metal? Is there a concept to the album this time too? Is it only coming out through Throne this time? Is Nor doing the artwork again? It seems like color artwork is back for the time since the first album?!

Dopi: I don't want to compare it with anything, people will tell if it's better or worst, but I'm sure it will be a good flesh piece for any old school dinosaur.
It's not a concept album this time, and it's released on Throne records on CD and very soon also on gatefold 12' vinyl. Nor did the artwork as usual, this time in color by his own request, we agree with anything Nor does cos' he's awesome and we're very lucky of having his help.
Mundo Cripta is out now, everybody can order it from us or going to Throne records website.

Do you already have things in the plans after the release of the new album? Touring again? Any new Ep's or Split Ep's in the horizon?

D: We're starting to book some live shows, nothing sure yet. About splits, we're going to release a split CD with Splatterhouse very soon with the awesome show both bands did in New York at CBGBs back in 2006, it will be a co-release between Vincent Price Recs (my own new label) and Living Dead Society, everybody should prepare their dirty ears for some real crudity, fuckin' good live sound but raw as fuck, not overdubs or manipulations.

You always hook up with some of the best bands ever for split releases! How do you achieve that? How much of these splits were from your personal contacts with bands and how much were setup by labels? What's your personal favorite among your own split ep releases? What's your favorite
band with whom you shared a split? Are there anymore bands you would like to share a split with in the future?

D: We have always got the bands to do splits from personal contacts, to find a label never was a problem really, we use to work with friends labels most of the time like Throne, Hells Headbangers, Escorbuto, etc and sometimes we worked with unknow labels resulting a shitty experience like those rip-off motherfuckers from The Spew(Italy), they didn't ripped us off but I know a few labels still waiting for trading packs since months.
My fave splits are the ones with Abscess and Corrupted cos' they're two of my all time fave bands, but anyway I like every fuckin' little piece of plastic we put out through the years, and some of them are now collector's items very rare like the split w/Rise Above, I remember the label gave it up short time after his first releases, and I'm sure there's a lot of those records forgotten under the dust of someone's garage.
In a future I would like to split a record with Repugnant (Swe) if the motherfuckers rejoin the band some day!

What do you think of the Machetazo's earlier demos now looking back? I think they were some of the best grind/noisecore ever! Do you think of ever re-releasing them on cd or something? Also do you think there will be an Ultratumba part 2 for all the split stuff that came out since then?

D: I love to death the early demos, it was a different time and a different view, I was younger and sicker at that point, all the old school noisecore, power electronics and harsh was a big influence, back in those days shit like AC, Painkiller, Swans or Merzbow were a big influence. I'm sure we'll release both demos on CD in the future, everybody ask for it. And fuck yeah you can expect another part of Ultratumba sooner or later.

You seem to really enjoy playing cover songs... Your choices are always awesome and really judicious... That Carnage cover song you did lately rules! That early Carnage demo rules so much! Are there anymore bands or songs you have in mind to try out and cover?

D: We have been tripping out with Carnage for a lot of years, it's the best shit Michael Amott recorded in his life.
Rigth now we're playing a part of Obituary's 'Dying' in our setlist, and we're thinking about playing live again Extreme Noise Terror's 'Raping the earth' cos' a week ago we played with ENT and they reminded us how fuckin' good is that song.

How would you describe Machetazo live? Where does Machetazo feels the best to you, in rehearsal, studio or live?! How do you figure out your live shows setlists? Are you bored with playing certain older tracks?

D: The best and truest way to die with Machetazo is live in a little pub with a low stage and just 150 people or so. That's our territory. Sometimes the older songs use to be the high points of the shows so it's impossible to bore.

You toured quite a few of places in the world! What's been your favorite crowd? Most memorable gigs or places? What do you think of fans/people coming to see your shows?

D: I always remember the show at CBGBs like one of the best ever. The show we did recently with ENT was cool too, any standard show we do besides the motherfuckin' overpopulated festivals use to kick ass.  About crew, the best are always at the north of Spain, real crazy bastards! The USA crew is awesome too, but mostly thanx to the latin people, they're the truest diehard fans I met.

Spanish grind bands/'scene' seem to be one of my most interesting at the moment... From Haemorrhage, Gruesome Stuff Relish/Altar of Giallo to Looking for an Answer/Unsane Crisis, Nashgul, etc........ What's your inside opinion on this? Are you close to all these bands? Any smaller spanish bands that you think deserves more attention?

D: Fuck yes I know all those bands, I have some old good friends in some of them, and we all have played together a few times. I don't know of any smaller or unknown grind/death band really... In the worldwide underground, -not only in Spain-, exists a strange way of doing things now...bands more busy with their fuckin' myspace/forums/chats/etc instead of practising and recording good stuff...don't you think so? Got tired of boring and feelingless records these past years, a very few new bands have impressed me.

I think Rober has a side band called El dia de los muertos, any news on that? Do you have any other side projects? Or do you any idea or desire to make any other side poject, maybe in a different style?

D: Lots of side projects right now around Machetazo. El Dia De Los Muertos is stopped now, but Rober has now Banished From Inferno with some guys from Paganizer,Godus,Unsane Crisis... they're signed to Ibex Moon records. And I'm involved with Dishammer (punk metal with Moho and LFAA members), Deathmask (the best doom rock ever) and The Bastards (a Motörhead cover band). Anyway never mind how many projects we can do, Machetazo always is the most important, and the only act really active playing shows.

Is your website closed at the moment? Are currently working on/planning
to put a new one online soon?

D: Yes, we're preparing a new one, with new design based in the Mundo Cripta artwork.

What kind of music do you listen to? Is it only metal and grind? What's your current music playlist? What's bands are you totally into at the moment?

D: I listen a ton of different music, of course not only metal and grind, that wouldn't be enough to satisfy me. These past days I remember my playlist was mostly Reverend Bizarre 'Crush the insects', some 50s rock'n'roll compilations, Rush 'The spirit of radio', Bathory 'The return...' and of course the new Machetazo a few times too. Right now I'm really into and obsessed with Darkthrone and Roky Erickson, both different but extremely EVIL. And about grindcore, the best shit I listened for a long time is the Insect Warfare/Flagitious Idiosincrasy In The Dilapidation split 7'.

Horror movies seem to also play an important part in Machetazo! I like the way you paid hommage to spanish horror especially the Blind Dead series. But my favorite spanish movies has got to be Serrador's absolute masterpieces 'La Residencia' & 'Quien Puede Matar a un Nino?' What's your
opinion on these 2? I also love spanish style giallo's like Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll & A Dragonfly for each Corpse! What are some of your favorite spanish flicks?! And if possible let me know your Top Ten Horror Movies of all time!

D: Yeah Narciso Ibañez Serrador rules, just got recently 'Masterpieces of horror', one of the first movies with his father. The two ones you mention are cult stuff. About giallo, gotta say I'm not into it. Amando De Ossorio and his Blind Dead freaks are the BEST shit ever done in this stinky country. Other spanish fave is Jorge Grau 'Let Sleeping Corpses Lie', that rules! And there's a lot of great sexploitation from the 70s, I love that vintage shit... Maybe I'll surprise you, but I fuckin' hate Jess Franco and Paul Naschy...I know they're arrogant as fuck, they got more than they deserved, and the real master Amando De Ossorio was forgotten and buried, FUCK.
a Top Ten is a pain in the ass...lately I'm into a lot of Something Weird Video productions (total freak-out movies!) and 70s porn.

That's about about all the questions I have for now... Just one last one: do you feel like Machetazo can go on forever? How many more Machetazo albums do you feel can we look forward to? Thanks alot for your time and please give this interview the coup de grâce now!!!

D: I haven't got a crystal ball...yet! haha. Hope Machetazo survive and stay strong, if the fun and the madness continue with us, we'll keep on going on the wrong side of the road 'til the motherfuckin' end. Thanx to you for the intie, congratulations for a so long time running Braindead, you RULE.
