...
First off, the full-length is out. I think it's really great. Can you say something about it? Was it alot of work to put all these tracks together? Are you satisfied with it? Will you work again with Black Hole in the future?

Before all, thanks a fuckin´lot for all your nice comments about it Pierre, we´re really very glad to know you´ve enjoyed our 1st full-lenght Cd "PATHOGENESIS INFEST PHLEGMSEPSIA". Ohh yeah, we´ve worked hard to put this Cd out for a long time, almost two years (de)composing and rehearsing a lot. The most songs were already (de)composed much time ago, some of them since 1997, as we´ve (de)composed and enjoyed some songs those times, we decided to keep these songs hidden until the recording session of our 1st full-lenght Cd. The tracks # 03,10 and 15 are good examples of this, the full-lenght Cd was almost complete, we´ve just made four or five songs to finish it, two or three months before the recording session. When it´s was already recorded, we knew it would be mastered on a good studio from Sweden, but not on "Soundlab" preciously. But at this mean time, Fernando said us that it would delay a lot and he couldn´t wait ´coz he really wanted to put the Cd out as soon as possible. So, he´s got in touch with Miesko and he said us he would master it for us. This new was fuckin´ great ´coz we really enjoy Miesko´s work and we´re sure he would do a great work on our full-lenght Cd. The result was really AMAZING, we´ve enjoyed it a lot and it was exactly what we wanted for our full-lenght Cd, the result really coudn´t be better !!! Well, we´ve received ten worldwide labels proposals for releasing it: five labels from Brazil, two U.S labels and three labels from Europe, but what Fernando & Black Hole Productions have offered for us was really AWESOME !!! When we knew what he would like to do with our 1st full-lenght Cd we immediately accepted his offer, honestly I think nobody could do and offer what Fernando has made and offered for Lymphatic Phlegm in all aspects !!! We take care a lot with all our releases but "PATHOGENESIS INFEST PHLEGMSEPSIA", is really special and we would like it was also special for who would release it, and not just one more Cd between so many others, and only Fernando thought on this way like us and it was one of the main reasons to release our 1st full-lenght Cd with him. Fernando has made, is doing and will always do an awesome effort to spread and keep even stronger Lymphatic Phlegm´s name worldwide ever !!! We´re totally satisfied with his work, dedication and total support and we´re sure that our 2nd full-lenght Cd will also be out via "Black Hole Productions" and other possible releases too !!! We hope you all are trying to get a copy of "PATHOGENESIS INFEST PHLEGMSEPSIA" and we´re very grateful to you all who have already got it. We hope to be satisfiyng all your pathologically explicit needs and that our full-lenght Cd be one of the highlights on your collection !!!

Rodrigo & André

I think you've also got a few more upcoming releases. Can you talk about these? Is the sound gonna be the same as the full-length?

Honestly, I don´t think so. Our up-coming releases won´t sound as our full-lenght Cd, but I´m sure it´ll continue sounding great (I hope !!!). We´ll probably work with Miesko again just on our 2nd full-lenght Cd, but there´s not any date to be released yet, end of 2004, maybe !!! Ohh yeah, we´re working on some new releases to be out in the next months. As some of them aren´t totally confirmed yet, we prefer don´t comment about them ´til they are totally okay !!! But we can confirm that our Mcd from 1999 on "Putrid Nausea Productions / Germany - R.I.P", "Bloodsplattered Pathological Dysfunctions" will be re-issued soon on a very limited edition 10"Lp on "Last House On The Right Records / U.S.A" and a new split Cd with (To be confirmed yet !!!) via "Sonic Death Records (Ex - Lofty Storm Records) / Brazil" will be released too. As soon as it´s ready be sure you all will know about, I´ll keep you all posted right ???

You're a very constant band, stylistically. Your grind style is always basic and pure. Can you please describe & detail your composing/writing process? Do you have rules or is there a grind pattern you follow?

Ohh, thanks a lot for your considerations !!! Well, it´s so simple, easy, practice and fuckin´great for us, there´s not really any secret. Each one presents one´s ideas and we start to (de)compose the songs on the best way we think. Each one does one´s part and the things are going very well. We do the guitar´s riffs together, so we choice the better ones, when it´s okay Rodrigo start to program the drums and when it´s ready I enclose the vocals, so the song is totally finished. We rehearse them a lot and it´s finally ready to be recorded, we have never had any kind of trouble, maybe for this reasons, our great friendship and very good relationship, Lymphatic Phlegm has recently completed seven years and be sure it will continue on this way for many, many years yet !!! No, we really don´t follow any rule or a pattern to (de)compose our songs, they just came naturally, maybe good influences are also responsible for it, fortunately it´s one of our good virtues and we hope don´t feel the lack of this !!!

Do you practise or does your stuff only come together during the recording? How and where do you record? Do you go to a studio?

Yeahh, all songs are done and rehearsed a lot before we go to the studio to record them. We record the stuffs on a good studio from our area called "Coda Studio", the recording sessions are like anyone, of any other band, just faster and more practice, specially due to the drum machine. If the running time of the stuff will be twenty two minutes, the recording time of the drum machine will also be twenty two minutes, fortunately we don´t spend much time with the drum´s recording. After this we start to record the bass and the guitar, and the last one are the vocals. I think probably all bands record on this way, there´s not any particularity, Lymphatic Phlegm´s recording session are really normal, different that some people think. Honestly, I don´t know what could have of so special or different during our recording sessions which causes so curiosity on the people.

The guitar riffs seems to be in the same spirit as Exulceration or very early Agathocles, am I wrong or is it intentional?

Firstly, I really would like to say, you were the first person who said Lymphatic Phlegm reminds "Exulceration" or early "Agathocles". We´re proud of this ´coz these bands are really awesome and have a great impact on our musick, we really enjoy these bands and we´re very grateful for all influence they give us since the very beginning. I´m sure you must have listened to our cover version of "Exulceration´s - Happy Sickness Of Life" on our split Cd with "S.M.E.S", right ??? We´re accustomed to read about the most variated comparations of Lymphatic Phlegm, some people say we remind early "Regurgitate", "Gore Beyond Necropsy", "Dead Infection", "Pathologist", "Catasexual Urge Motivation", "Impetigo"... You think we remind "Exulceration" and early "Agathocles", well, if we remind just a few of each one of these godly bands, it´s really awesome for us, all these bands are really fuckin´ great, classic and cult !!! The most funny comparation came from a guy from Thailand of a web zine called "Bloody Orgasm" who said Lymphatic Phlegm reminds him "Impaled Nazarene" and "Beherit", can you imagine it ??? Well, it´s his opinion and we must respect it, we can´t judge what anyone thinks, just accept and respect, right ??? I´m sure we´ll receive many comparations with variated names and be sure we´re really very grateful for yours !!! Honestly no Pierre, if our guitar riffs sound like these bands you´ve mentioned, it´s a great coincidence, we don´t do anything intentionally, we prefer to follow our own way of (de)composition ´coz if it´s not this way we could be called of a shitty boring cliche, and we want it never happens, fortunately it has never occured. Of course you didn´t say, it but it really wasn´t intentionally made !!!

After all these years, you still use a drum-machine, my guess is that it's the fastest and more practical way to record. Have you completely given up the idea of having real drumming? With real drums, I think you'd sound like Exuleration re-incarnated! Objectively, do you think you'll ever have real drumming or do you think you'll always use the machine drumming?

Well, on our very beginning we would like to enclose another member on Lymphatic Phlegm, a drummer, preciously. But as we´ve never got to find one, it wasn´t possible. So, as we want to do what we had proposed without depending of this, we start to play as a duo and with drum machine, it was really a consequence. Nowadays we haven´t plans to enclose another member on Lymphatic Phlegm, we´re totally satisfied how the things are going and we don´t want to change it!!! Maybe due to this fact we´ve never played a gig but it has never been and probably will never be one of our main intentions, since the beginning we´ve never care about it. We just want to do what we´re doing nowadays, we prefer to continue on this way just recording and releasing stuffs, as I said before we´re very glad how the things are going !!!

Is there a Lymphatic Phlegm release that you feel is the most representative of the band, or, the most important?

All our releases are very important and representative. They have a great worth for us, there´s not a "most important stuff", all of them are really fuckin´ expressive for us !!! I could mention stuffs as our Mcd "Bloodsplattered Pathological Dysfunctions" and our split 7"Ep with our french gore mates "Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition" are very important and representative stuffs ´coz they represent the beggining of a very special moment of Lymphatic Phlegm, with these stuffs we started to get more and more proposals from worldwide labels to release our stuffs and the recognition became much more expressive. I´m mentioning these stuffs in special ´coz ´til nowadays they are required for many people, maybe we´ll re-issue our split 7"Ep with "Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition" in the future,as we´ve done with our Mcd, it will be a good opportunity for those who didn´t get it in the past !!! Our 1st full-lenght Cd "PATHOGENESIS INFEST PHLEGMSEPSIA" can also be enclosed on this list of special releases ´coz, as I said before, this stuff is for sure our main effort ever !!! Our full-lenght Cd represents a great conquest, we´ve hardly worked to accomplish it and fortunately we´re satisfying to all those who were waiting for it for a long time. The response is being totally fuckin´ great and our full-lenght Cd without doubt has a special worth for all that´s happening and will hapeen yet.

You've done split releases with tons of bands like Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition, Jan Ag, S.M.E.S., Neuro-Visceral Exhumation, Autophagia, etc... What do you think of all the bands that shared releases with you? Are you in contact with all of them? Which band(s) would you absolutely LOVE to split with?

Ohh yeah, we´re in frequent contact with all bands we´ve splited with, except with "Torsofuck´s" and "Headcrash´s" guys. It´s a shame ´coz we really would like to keep in touch with them, when the splits are supposed to be released, the contacts for it were done through the labels, so we didn´t get in touch with anyone of them. But I hope it can happen in a near future, we like a lot the musick of both bands and it would be great to stay in touch with them !!! With our country mates of "Flesh Grinder", "Neuro-Visceral Exhumation" and "Feculent Goretomb" we costume keep in touch via letters, E-mails and phone, and with all the other bands we´re in touch via letters and E-mails!!! Angelos, Magnus, Erwin, Seb, Charlie, Ern, Jan are old friends and we´re always keeping in touch. We hope to meet them all some day, it would be AWESOME !!! Ahh, and of course you too, Pierre !!! We really love all these sickos are doing, they are really playing the sickest musick and each one on its own way, but always sounding sick as fuck !!! We´re very proud to release some stuffs with all these great guys and their amazing bands, we´re proud !!! We really like tons of bands and it would be great if we could release some split with anyone of them. It would be great if we could release some split with our country mates who are unfortunately R.I.P nowadays as "Rotting Flesh" and "Sarcastic", other brazilian names also could be "Rot", "Life Is A Lie", "Tapasya", "Neoplasm Disseminator"... It would also be awesome to split with some bands which are great Lymphatic Phlegm´s influences such as "Last Days Of Humanity", "Catasexual Urge Motivation / Vampiric Motives", "Libido Airbag", "Pathologist", "Gore Beyond Necropsy", "Dead Infection","Regurgitate", "Mortician", "Haemorrhage"... We like a lot some one man bands that we could split with such as "Decomposing Serenity", "Microphallus", "Intense Soaked Cloth", "Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage", "Gross", "Gynophagia", "Psychosadist Haterapist", "Savage Man Savage Beast"... All these bands are really very appreciated for us and it would be fuckin´ great to split something with anyone of them, someday. There are so many names to mention, they would compose a huge list !!! Our free time is so short nowadays that we aren´t doing any plans for any future split release, we just want to accomplish what was planned in the past, if it happen will be really very good !!!

I think the CD format is the best way to listen Lymphatic Phlegm; Even though I love vinyl, it seems to me that your special sound is slightly degraded on vinyl; What do you think about that, am I wrong?

Ohh, we like vinyl a lot too !!! As we know vinyl has a special and own characteristic and it also becomes special for who listens to it !!! When there is the possibilty to get a stuff that was released on both ways, Cd and Lp we can percept some real differences between each one and maybe it is a reason for many people enjoy more vinyl stuffs than Cd´s. We costume give to the stuff that will be released on vinyl the same treatment that we give to the stuffs that will be released on Cd, there´s no reason to be different and when they´re ready, each one has its own characteristics. Honestly, I confess that I don´t think our stuffs on vinyl format are slightly degraded, I think they continue sounding cool, sometimes raw, filthy and noisy as fuck, but still cool !!! But if it´s your opinion, I must say it´s totally okay for us, we absolutely understand it. If we´re doing something, we´re also able for any kind of commentary !!! It´s really very interesting ´coz there are some people who prefer our stuffs on vinyl, and others on Cd, but independent of the stuff´s format, we hope everybody (including you) keeps enjoying our releases. Fortunately our full-lenght Cd will be released on Lp too, so people can get the stuff on the format they prefer !!! Thanks a lot for your honest opinion, Pierre !!!

Your lyrics seem to be straight out of a medical book. Do you understand all of your lyrics yourself? Do you think the concept has limits or is there still more to explore?

Well, our lyrics, artworks and specially our musick are really very inportant for us ´coz all them are our main characteristics and we´re always trying to do it in the best way we can do, and as it really must be !!! Our lyrics are a very special Lymphatic Phlegm´s characteristic and I´m always hardly working to do them in the best way and, as I said before, as it really must be. The main intention of our lyrics is to show all that can happen with anyone of us at any moment in the most true, severe and pathologically explicit concept. Expose how the extremely fragile, sordid and decadent structure of the human organism is pathologically disposed and how all our anatomical complex is complete, interesting and fascinating. The most repulsive, bizarre and destructive kinds of human pathology are what we want to express, none of the alive beings can develop so many kinds of pathology like the human being. Try to know more and more about it, how it´s important for anyone of us, what it can provide for us ... All this is really fascinating and just who´s really into this knows what I want to say and I hope you are one of them too, right ??? Still as an interesting topic, we pick all our stuffs (artworks & lyrics) from all our medical literature, such as books, magazines, journals. Sometimes I visit some medical web sites too... It´s really essencial and I´m always trying to get more and more itens about it for keeping the stuffs very well done and correct. Unfortunately some people think what we´re expressing thru our pathological subjects has nothing to say and is incoerent, other think they are just re-prints of the medical texts or something else, but I´m sure they are totally wrong. Maybe, if some of them, their parents or friends aquire a malignant and destructive kind of pathology, all of them will have a very good experience to know if what we´re saying is true or not, DECAY IN PATHOLOGY FUCKIN´ WIMPS !!! Well, still about the lyrics, they are a complement for our musick, through the lyrics we can expose all which our thematic is about, they are really essencial. Only on some songs we don´t enclose lyrics due to the short running time or just because the title already says what we want, but they´re very few !!! Well, I write all lyrics about a complex text, I get a full text so I extract the main parts of this, making a compendium, an abstract text with all itens that the lyrics need. Sometimes, I enclose some personal positions on it too, but just sometimes, just when it´ll sound great !!! The lyrics contents are about to expose the main points of the full text such as: how the pathologies begin, their motives, where they come from, development, symptons, what they can cause to the patient, prophilaxy methods... it would be really easy just re-print the texts, but we really don´t do it !!! I think this subject will always have topics to explore, if you go deep into the pathology depths you´ll see it hasn´t limits and while there are disposed human beings disposed to manifest these pathologies, their dissemination will always be uncontrollable and endless!!! As I said before, try to know about them, and about all the amazing medical sciences can offer to you, it´s really fantastic !!!

You often use intros from horror flicks like Zombie Holocaust (Dr. Butcher), Flesh for Frankenstein & more... Are you horror fans? Are you able to pick ONE absolute fave movie? You seem to keep the medical concept of the band in your intros too; do you have a hard time tracking down movies fitting to the this concept?

Well, we love "Trash" movies in general on all its segments and all which is relationed with this, all them are really fuckin´great !!! It´s really special, difficult to explain, just who´s into this knows exactly what it means and I´m sure you like it a lot too, right ??? So, you understand what I want to say !!! This Kind of culture is really special for us and we give it all recognition it really deserves, "Hail the B cinema ever"!!! I like several titles into this, really so many to mention. But I´ll mention some of my all times faves. They are: "Aftermath" Nacho Cerdá, "The Gates Of Hell" Lucio Fulci, "The Beyond" Lucio Fulci, "Schramm" Jörg Buttgereit, "Nekromantik 1 & 2" Jörg Buttgereit,"Bad Taste" Peter Jackson and "O Monstro Legume do Espaço" Petter Baiestorf, these flix and their directors are really fantastic, I love them all !!! Ohh yeah, I´m always trying to find some flix that are into our medical thematic, but it´s really very hard. One of them that was perfect is the classic "Doctor Butcher M.D - Medical Deviate", when I´ve watched to this I said: "I´ll enclose some parts of this on our full -lenght Cd" and the result coudn´t be better, it came perfect to our musick !!! We would like to enclose the trailer of this on our full-lenght Cd too, but "Catasexual Urge Motivation" has already used it on their godly cult "Rape Trauma Syndrome" cassete. I´m always searching for some medical documentaries on video too, when I found some which is perfect I´ll enclose some parts of this on our intros for sure !!! I costume to spend much time searching and watching videos to find some cool intros to be enclosed on our upcoming stuffs. Nowadays I prefer to enclose intros taken from just two or three flix. Never more than it. On some cases just from one, it´s more practice and simple and the stuff´s intros have a good sequence, it´s better !!!

You're one of the most productive and creative band in the scene. So many releases and so many tracks... Are you still as enthusiastic about what you do as you were in the start? Do you feel you're gonna put out many more releases in the future?

Ohh, thanks a lot for your nice considerations Pierre, we´re really very grateful !!! Yeahh, fortunately after all this seven years of existence we continue so enthusiastic as the beginning, we keep with this great feeling and it give us more will to continue spreading our sickness !!! Honestly I think it´ll continue on this way for much time yet, we really love what we´re doing and when this feeling goes different there´s not any reasons to continue, but be sure Lymphatic Phlegm will keep alive and even stronger for many years!!! I´m sure we´ll put out some more releases yet but not so many itens as it was in the last times, there are some stuffs that we really want to release, some splits with friendly and great bands and a second and until a third full-lenght Cd, but it´ll happen with much work and dedication and we´re hardly working for it happen !!! We hope to release some new stuff very soon, we´ll keep you all informed, right ???

Do you have any hobbies, projects & stuff outside Lymphatic Phlegm? Do you have a desire to do other projects in music styles different than L.P.?

Honestly, we haven´t much time to do some hobbie or some similar activitie. Our free time we costume to spend with our rehearsals and with the band´s works such as answer letters, E-mails, inties, etc... When we have some extra free time we really enjoy to go to "Atlético´s Arena" to watch some game of our fave football team, it´s really awesome, hail "Clube Atlético Paranaense" ever !!!". When it´s possible, we also go to the "Black Hole Productions" head quarter (Hey Fernando !!!) and we also stay with our girlfriends, watch some videos, sometimes we go to the beach or do some camping activities, sometimes I travel for other near cities where I meet other cool friends, take cold beers a lot... Well, just normal things for common people, there´s nothing special!!! No way, it would be impossible to start a project or something else outside Lymphatic Phlegm, we spend all our free time with our activities but if it was possible I think we would like to play something into Hard Core, Crust Core, Grind Core or Power Violence but it isn´t really possible but would be cool !!!

Now can you talk about Brasil? I know you've got quite alot of really intense bands over there... Please talk about your fave brasilian bands; but also what's it like to live in a place like Brasil?!

Well, Grind Gore isn´t really popular in Brazil but we still have a large number of followers here, specially in the region where we live (South). The "Splatter / Gore" scene in Brazil fortunately continues very strong and active and it´s even stronger day after day !!! Unfortunately we had some sad losses in the last years, some fuckin´ great bands such as: "Hansened", "Carnal Thumor", "Sarcastic", "Vômito"... broke up, but other great names have rised and they are nowadays disseminating the Grind Gore sickness from Brazil, they are: "Neuro-Visceral Exhumation", "Feculent Goretomb", "Neoplasm Disseminator", "Cativeiro/(R.I.P)", "Lethal Sense", "Compulsive Vulvolatric Intruders", "Genital Lacerate", "Schatologic Madness Possession", "Disgusting", "Rotten Penetration", "Infected Virulency", "Defecation In The Sexual Orgy", "Debauchery"... Most of you probably know them, right ??? If no try to know them all, I´m sure you´ll not be disappointed. Well, I think this rotativity is very common, some bands go and other bands come but the most important is to keep the scene strong, active and united and we´re very glad to colaborate with this and be sure it´ll go on this way for many, many years yet, "Hail brazilian Grind Gore" !!! How´s to live in Brazil??? Well, Brazil is a country of many contrasts and there are many differences between each region .The brazilian socio-political and economical situation fortunately is stabilized. Of course, it could be better but what was done and what´s being done is already sufficient to assuage the main troubles of the country. As you know, Brazil is a continental country and as I said before like any 3rd world country there are here many differences between the regions, everyone with its own troubles, particularities and characteristcs, so it makes the work harder to solucionate them all !!! I don´t support the new president and his philosophy but as always he promises work a lot to finish with all social differences from Brazil, we´re just waiting and when possible colaborating for it too. Fortunately we live in the best and richest region of the country (South) where the life quality has always been superior than the other ones. Paraná is one of the three richest states in Brazil and Curitiba is the best city in life quality to live, so we haven´t so many things to complain. Of course there are here many umployed people and poor ones living with much few money but they don´t represent a big problem to be solutioned. Honestly I don´t know if we have the same good conditions if we live on other regions of Brazil, I can´t say ´coz I don´t know these places, I´m talking just what I read on the newspapper and what I see on Tv but the conditions of the other regions aren´t so bad as they were in the past, the people are always trying and hardly working to change this situation and for making a good place to live with all necessary things and it´s great !!! We´re very glad on the place where we live and totally satisfied how the things are going and I´m sure it tends to become better!!! If possible, come to Brazil to know Curitiba, Paraná and the South region, you are our guest right ??? But forget all those boring and shitty history of Carnival (Fuckin´ SHIT!!!), Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Amazon jungle, we´re really so far of this all !!!

That's all I had to ask. Thanks for answering all of this. Any closing words?

Thanks a fuckin´ lot Pierre for this nice intie,we´re really very grateful for all your support and friendship, you rule pathogorebro !!! We really always want to appear on your web zine, we really appreciate your work and we´re really very glad for it, thanksss !!! Anyone who wants to know more about Lymphatic Phlegm please get in touch, your letters and E-mails will be more than welcome, thanksss in advance !!! You all, try to check our new releases specially our 1st full-lenght Cd and STAY TOTALLY GORE AND PATHOLOGICALLY EXPLICIT AS FUCK !!!
