Here's a nice Q&A with Swedish Grinding Death Metal Desperator. Just, watch out for them, they're real cool, and kinda funny.
Fall-July 2001

First, do you think you belong to a specific scene? Grind or metal... Or maybe you just play like you feel playing.... Are you connected to other swedish bands? I thought you were close (the music and the humorous spirit) to Birdflesh for example.. Do you know them?
If you put music, lyrics and production in categories it would be, filthy, grinding death and Swedish death metal. Put those scenes together and tons of humour and irony in it and you got yourself a Desperator. We do not know Birdflesh.

Can you introduce each and everyone in the band? Role in the band, hobbies, musical tastes/influences, fave movies, fave food, personality traits, distinguishing marks, drug-addictions, scars, tatoos, whatever you feel like saying.......
Mikael Strömberg, guitarist/songwriter/. Erik Grawsiö, drums/vocals/ Stefan (Cke) Mattsson, Bass.We all are working with ordinary jobs and like spaghetti.

I see the band has gone through different names such as Strhate Edge, Backseat Boys(too drunk to drive). But have you guys played in other different bands before that? and do you currently have side-bands? Also, is there a story behind the name Desperator? Did you want it to mean something particular?
The line-up has been like this since we started spring 97, but we've been changing names couple of times until we took the name Desperator. No deeper meaning with the name. When you hear it you know what it means. We all have had a lot of different bands, for example Micke have had a band called Freak mode (skapunk), Micke & Cke, Triangular Bush (filthpunk). Cke, Scab(metal). Erik, Obscurity(deathmetal). Erik is currently playing drums and sing in Månegarm (blackmetal).

It's how many demos you've put out so far? Do you think you will keep it up with demos or is there something else coming up? Do you think working on a good number of demos is important before starting making bigger plans?
We have been record a lot of shit, very lot. The bigger plans never been coming to us. Of course we are looking for a label, been in contact with a few after the “demenstruation 01” and are keeping the spirit up.

Why are your demos so short? Want to keep quality over quantity?
Yep. To put a lot of time in small amount of music are of course getting a better product.

Do you compose music together and do you work alot on your compositions? How much and where do you rehearse?
Usually Micke come up with an idea for the song and then the other guys fill it up. We don`t work a lot of times on our compositions and we usually make a song each rehearsal. But if a song are bad, and 9 out of 10 usually is, we throw it in the garbage. We only save the ones we think are good. We rehearse once a week if possible in a building full of rehearsal rooms here in Norrtälje, Sweden.

You went to the Sunlight Studios for the "De-menstruation" Demo... Did you record other demos there? How was it? Expensive maybe? btw, Is keeping the band up money-wasting?
Erik and his other band Månegarm recorded their first album there so he new Tomas Skogsberg since earlier. We got a really nice price. It was fun. It`s not money wasting keeping the band up. The only expenses is to record demos which hasn`t been to expensive so far, but it would be nice if a record label could take care of the costs.

Do you write lyrics? If yes, it's probably alot of goofy fun judging by the song titles... I think humor keeps things away from boredom. In grind, it's either gore or political, but you don't qualify... Also lyrics aren't included in the demos. Is it because you didn't have enough space, or because you in fact don't really care about 'em?
We think the lyrics are quite fun and the few people that have read them think they are really fun, but we don`t write them down in our demos because we think our grammar suck. But we do care about them.

How do you feel about live shows? Did you perform alot already, & do you like that?
We like live shows a lot, but we haven`t performed that much. But when we do we make a great show!

That's about everything I could put together really... Finish as you want. If possible, please let people know what Desperator is up to in a near future...
We don`t really know what`s going to happen next. We still waiting for answers from record labels. We will just have to wait and see. Thank you very much and keep in touch!
