Questions to
Rubem, lone member of Cativeiro (Brasil). (November 27 2001)
Hey Rubem,
what's up? Obviously that's a filler question!
I
am still alive, that's great. You seem alive too!!!
On to the
real questions: What went wrong with Gore? Why did you split
up?
We
of old GORE band finally got sick of playing together, that´s
what.
What are
the musical differences between Cativeiro and Gore? You
didn't
seem to have vocal effects on Cativeiro on the few songs
I heard, although
the vocals are still pretty extreme... Do you consider Cativeiro
being
Goregrind or hyper fast brutal death?
I
wanted to continue old GORE band after it broke, but that
idea caused
me problems with the other members, so, if i have to beggin
another
band, let it be more extreme than the last one, right?
Although i don´t use vocal effects, i can´t
think of CATIVEIRO as being
a DEATH METAL band, i think it is pure Goregrind, but if
i am wrong,
somebody please tell me quickly because i need reasons to
laugh.
Do Cativeiro
have lyrics, like Gore? Judging by the titles, it's all
about
gore... What drives you to write about that, or stay around
that topic?
With
my lyrics i try to make people realize that we all live
in a big
fuckin mental captivity. I try to be as reasonable as possible
in my
lyrics. But i don´t sing even one fuckin word of them,
it´s GOREGRIND.
Are you satisfied
with the Split with Pigsty out on Bizarre Leprous? How
did you hook up with BLP? Did you have some positive response
about it?
I
got extremely happy with this release, and i thank ROMAN
(BLP) till
death for it. I sent him a CD-r and less than 3 months after
the CD
was out. What a great and fuckin fast release!!! Fast in
the music,
fast in the label!!! And PIGSTY is a fuckin great band!!!
I would like
to dedicate this release to the old GORE fans, i hope you
like it!!!
You have
real gore pictures on your covers. Is it the only type of
covers
you'll ever use or would you also use comic book type artwork
stuff à la
Impetigo, Haemorrhage or even Machetazo if you could?
Although
i don´t feel forced to think the same old way forever,
i still
believe that CATIVEIRO covers will always have real pictures
of bloody
crimes, because it is exactaly what i summon people TO FIGHT
AGAINST.
I trully would like death for all those people who lives
only to cause
suffer, so my covers are warnings. I like justice very fuckin
much.
Now you are
alone, is it gonna be hard to work on the upcoming full
length
album? How is the album gonna sound like? How many tracks
etc...
I
will record all the instruments on the new CATIVEIRO CD,
it will be
not a problem for me, it will have new recordings of 5 old
songs, plus
covers of ROT and GORE, even a goregrind version of the
first movement
of the 13rd Shostakovitch symphony. I plan to do the most
demented CD
released ever. Of corpse it will have brand new songs too,
9 new ones.
It will sound just like a mixing pot boiling your decaying
visceras.
Out on Half-Life Recs in early 2002, keep an eye on it,
gore freaks.
You're still
planning to play live shows in the future.. Who's gonna
come
complete the line-up?
Yes,
after the recordings of CATIVEIRO new CD i will start reharsals
with a guitarrist and a bassist. But i still have to see
them playing
before admiting them in CATIVEIRO band. If everything works
well, soon
we are going to do some shows around Brazil, and, maybe
out of it too,
who knows? I think that people will like most CATIVEIRO
out of Brazil.
You seem
to have an obsession with playing drums extremely fast.
Do you
train alot and stuff?
I
found this the best question of all, not because of the
OBSESSION
thing, but because of the TRAIN A LOT AND STUFF. I think
it is very
interesting, a lot of people get surprised when i say that
i NEVER HAD
a drum set. I am very poor, and not the pooverty of the
1st world, but
3rd. For those who still don´t know, almost 90% of
Brazil population
earns no more than 65$ a month to live, sometimes with 10
kids to feed.
So, i don´t have a drum set and i don´t have
a lot of other important
things. I play only when i enter studio for recordings,
that's why i
play too bad. Maybe in the future it becomes better. I think
positive.
What are
the 5 records that have the biggest influence on you.
I
think they are:
1-DORSAL ATLÂNTICA - ANTES DO FIM
2-GENOCÍDIO - DEPRESSION
3-CARCASS - REEK OF PUTREFACTION
4-IMPETIGO - ULTIMO MONDO CANNIBALE
5-CATASEXUAL URGE MOTIVATION - THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SERIAL
MURDERS
That's
all I've got! Sorry I always keep my interviews short these
days.
My brain hurts when I try to think of more than 10 questions.
Thanks heaps for answering those, take care and stay sick.
Thanks
for the support, Pierre, you a great guy!!! Stay GRIND!!!
