A few questions to Bodies Lay Broken (US of A). (December 8 2001)

Braindead: What drove you to play grind? As for the influence some people may Napalm Death & Carcass. But Dead Infection & Exulceration also sprung to my mind... How do you feel about about these bands?

Bodies Lay Broken: Well maybe you are knowing this influences of ours as being this bands of your reference you first say, but also we are liking for many others that are too many for listing. Of course we are very happy listening of Dead Infection on "Chapter of Accidents" for being great grind! Really fast all the time drumming is really great there. But we're sorry the other of the Dead Infection CDs we are not happy about. Exulceration we are sorry: we haven't heard! We are a poser...ha ha. But the other bands are the same you would think we are liking so we will not say them all, yet the best influence of our band members is the Napalm Death and Carcass in old Earache records.

Braindead: What do you think of the stuff you have out as of now? (The demo & the split w/Machetazo... is there more stuff? Not sure..) Do you know what fans think about it? (do you care about it?)

Bodies Lay Broken: We have just the things of your reference, and also we made a song of Carcass for Carcass comp CD that we think most grind people are listening of already. The tape is not of "pro" sound than the 7" because we had not been spending so much money with that so the sound is muddy but it is good for listening like old lo-fi grindcore records. We are not knowing fans thinking but a lot of emails are saying brutal and sick so maybe this is what they are thinking that we are ultra-brutal sick goregrind death metal. But we are not knowing.

Braindead: Do you have an idea how the album (to be out on Razorback) will be like? How many songs are ready for it? Do you have an idea on the length it will run? How does the songs feel like (meaning... is it still gonna be grrrind?!)

Bodies Lay Broken: Who is knowing of time... It is bad being disappointer to people when we can say this time and maybe another time but then maybe it is not happening and then people are saying to us hey you were saying this time and now you are not doing this why is this. We two years ago almost were saying yes we want to go make our record but then we have things that make us delay so it is now a long time past. Hopefully we tell your readers and you of recording in early of 2002 and this is a time that we are thinking sincerely we are doing the recording. We hope so. As for songs there are now maybe 40 and 30 minutes and they are most thrash metal like Tankard.

Braindead: I wasn't able to figure out who's behind the band... so can you tell me how many are you, and Who are you? Who does what. It seems like you used a drum machine at one point, but the stuff for Split w/ Machetazo featured real drums, right?

Bodies Lay Broken: Yes we know you are confusing from this. We think to say it is better for not knowing faces so we are not being underground rock stars so there is the anonymous of our band. That is why it is confusing. We are not using drum machine but some cheap 4-track songs were done with drum machine because the drums were not at the flat to use and neighbors say to not use drums in building anyway, so...any case, on this Bodies Lay Broken mp3 page there is this songs with drum machine but this is only fun. We are three people like Carcass and one person is Steve.

Braindead: What was it like to do a Japanese tour? How do you happen to go all the way to Japan to play? Do you have a big fanbase out there? One japanese guy told me the japanese scene sucks, but it always looked great to me, my fave bands are from Japan.. What do you think?

Bodies Lay Broken: Maybe you are knowing this sayings: "The shit is smells bad on your own side but not the other side." We think this maybe is why Japanese people say the Japan scene sucks because for the not Japan people the scene in Japan is not smells bad! There is nice person in Japan who makes webpage saying good of our tape so we are thinking yes there is fans in Japan for Bodies Lay Broken! And we say maybe we are going to Japan for playing shows. So we get off of the plane in Japan and we are screaming "YAY! WE ARE IN JAPAN! THIS IS VERY COOL!!!" We are running around cities buying things that are cool and talking with Japan people in Japanese but we speak the language that is not so good so it is hard for communication and we are eating the Japan food riding trains and using funny Japan toilets. Then there are rock shows to play which are good with moshing and Japan people headbanging and saying "We are liking of Bodies Lay Broken! Yay!" The Japan bands are playing very heavy and this is good for us to be with the heavy bands that we like. We are remember good times in Japan for sure!

Braindead: Your songs seem to have a theme.. which is Gore. Right? So, is that the only theme or do you think it could be anything... The cover for the split w/ Machetazo seemed to be delving into witchcraft.. How bout that? And by the way, do you actually Write lyrics?

Bodies Lay Broken: We are all making witchcraft and hope we can do touring with Witchery but we are not liking of those shit programs like Sabrina the Teenage Witch that are showing fun of witches. Witches are not fun! This is all serious practicing and making of evil and we are thinking it should have the picture of our record to show people that witchcraft is powerful for our life. We think this is all of themes for us because if you are knowing you will know that gore is for the ritual of witchcraft sittings so we are using gore for songs and to showing the power of witchcraft. All the lyrics are saying the lines as witchcraft is our lives and our lives is a dedicate to the witchcraft we are making. It is a lot describing the ceremonies too that take place in the gore. So we are hoping that this will let you understand some more of our cover pictures and the names in songs. Yes now you know that we are writing lyrics for our songs and they have the topics of my reference.

Braindead: What did you think of the Carcass tribute cd that had Bodies Lay Broken featured with the 'Microwaved Uterogestation' cover? Did you ask to be on it, or people asked you? Is there any other Carcass song you would pick for it? Wouldn't you have liked to feature on Razorback's Impetigo Tribute? And what do you think of this tribute trend? All these Slayer & Metallica tributes... Oh, and there's gonna be a Dead Infection tribute cd! (by Dead Infection guys themselves actually, hehe)...

Bodies Lay Broken: The story is one day we see the Carcass comp CD plan and say to each other we would enjoy playing for this CD. So we send this label guy a letter say hi we have a band and it is called Bodies Lay Broken maybe you are wanting for our band playing on this Carcass CD. Of course he writes back and says hi my name is Bob and I have the label here if you are wanting to be with the bands on the CD maybe this can happen but I don't know now. So it is passing months and we are practicing the song hoping we can get a note from Bob but then we say dammit this is too much months so we have to write back to Bob but then we find out Bob is not of the label now. We get this message sent back in the email because Bob's address is not there. So we find a phone number and call and now we have to tell this person again what our band is and we have a song to give on the Carcass CD. This was kind of embarassment to us because we call in person. But this person answering to us says hi I am Bob yes we are needs an other band so if you record this song please send to us. And we send our song and that is all! We think if our song choice is not possible that the better song is to choose "Rot in Free World" because we hate this song. Swansong sucks to us. Tribute records are nice to us because it is fun for people playing the songs of favorite bands; it is fun. So if the bands are having fun with this tribute record then this is ok and more of this is not bad to have. We are chuffed of Dead Infection tribute!

Braindead: Bodies Lay Broken... Any reason why this name? Funny anecdote or something? Or is it just Bodies Lay Broken and that's all. (Well, at this point my brain hurts alot and I start writing filler questions).

Bodies Lay Broken: The metal people are knowing we think that this name is from Manowar so maybe you guess that Bodies Lay Broken is a Manowar cover band but this is not true. We make you aware too that this is just coincidental of with Manowar. There was a person who was yelling in Bodies Lay Broken at the first part and he wanted this band name so we are saying yes this band has the name Bodies Lay Broken. And now that is the band name. We're sorry this is not funny.

Braindead: Are you into... horror? If yes... Any fave movie? Pick One if possible, and tell me why it is a fave. Are you into DVD and stuff?

Bodies Lay Broken: We all are disliking horror because it is not the real gore. There is this sayings that "only death is real" and so only when we can see the snuff movies is the good stuffs. There is this underground tapes called "Accidents" of the people in hospitals and homes and there are the videotapes that people are making and they make compiles of them for this tapes series. So one of the series is called "Power Tools Accidents" and this is the favorite for us because there is hacked up people. The hope we have is for this DVD because we are liking DVD and maybe laserdisc version too.

Braindead: And well ten is my number. I don't think I can think of any decent question after that. Please add some final comments if you have a few of those... and that's about it! Thanks for doing this.

Bodies Lay Broken: If you are making two times 10 this is 20 and that is the number on the shirt of Dino Cicarelli who was playing hockey in Minnesota long time past. Dino was arrested for pulling his pants down in his garage when there was a child outside and so his nickname was Dino No-Pants. Also there is the band Pants Down Sailor. Thank you very much for this interview stuffs! It was very nice of you for us. Here is our webpage and email: http://hagamoto.com/bodieslaybroken bodieslaybroken@yahoo.com
