Review:
For once I've got an advance copy of something I might as well do an advance review... Bare in mind I only listened to an unmastered recording, so the actual cd might sound even better than described here on the day of release, ha! This cd opens with a movie sample similar to the one Ghoul used at the start of "Maniaxe", still didn't caught what movie this was from, damn it! Anyway, back to "Apology for Pathology", well it sounds very much like the continuation of "Home Sweet Morgue" & "Dementia Rex"... But the album has more of a Repulsion-esque, grind-oriented feel, with songs rarely running over 1 minute and a half, with the exception of the opening and the last couple of closing tracks which show some more thrashing death metal influences... The whole thing has a great flow and songs that are very nicely arranged, with some cool-as-hell breakdowns here and there. Guitar work is really some of the band's most intricate yet, with tight, well-formed riffing and an impacable inclusion of quick, blistering solos too... It's not like you need a description of Haemorrhage's style but anyway... Of course, drumming provides Haemorrhage's essential allying of grinding beats & groovier rhythms; the vocal performance is completely awesome as usual with Lugubrious' unique, very organic mix of monstrous shrieks, roaring growls, and splattery pitch-shifted grunts... There's definitely a darker, more natural feel throughout, but this stuff still hits really hard and really gets me excited... It's safe to say the band is still at the top of their game! Musically, this is some of their most accomplished work. After just a couple of listening, these songs already sound like classics to me, so yeah, I'd say this is yet another very memorable cd from these goregrind gods! Can't wait to hear this with the proper sound mix! If you check the tracklist you'll notice the band updates one of their older song, "Cadaveric Metamorphose" from "Emetic Cult" (on top of their O-Pus V of "Intravenous..."). There are also different versions of a couple of songs. I think "Fester Feast" appeared on a split ep before and "Feasting on Purulence"/"Disgorging Innards" were on the recently released Split Ep w/ Nunslaughter. My advance cd-r also has 4 other bonus tracks with a much groovier, fun vibe though these tracks might be destined for another entirely different release, I'm not quite sure... Anyhow, look out for this, it's gonna be worth it! Oh and I've seen some of the band member pictures that are gonna be used for this cd and erm... All I've gotta say is: Ana in a nurse outfit is a sight to die for, wow!!!

Tracks: 1)Posthumous Predation 2)Feasting on Purulence 3)Frenzied genital carbonization 4)Antemortem Thanatopraxis
5)Disgorging Innards 6)Excruciating Denervation of the Lumbar Spine 7)Cadaveric Metamorphose 8)Syndicate of sickness 9)Edible Necrectomy 10)Festerfeast 11)Intravenous molestation of obstructionist arteries (o-pus V) 12)Furtive Dissection 13)Surgical Extravaganza 14)Apology for Pathology

Haemorrhage Review:
This long anticipated event has finally happened. These two monsters of gore are the perfect match for a split release and the result is a complete success. First, the album's concept revolving around insanity is a really cool touch, as it's prolonged from one band to another. For their side, Haemorrhage elaborates on the style they forged on "Morgue Sweet Home"... A darker, more complex and more homogenous version of their good old grind-gore style, probably now also more influenced by death metal than ever. Their music is still very much based on speed; The song structures are slightly more intricate now, with especially well thought out guitar riffs. Vocals are always Haemorrhage's trademark mix of slightly gurgled shrieks and lower guttural roars, the drumming is always so driving and with a touch of groove... The sound production is better than ever, with a clear sound, a great balance between all the instruments, and a very nice overall heavy vibe... Musicianship has definitely become so much tighter over the years, I think the band is really on top of their game now! The lyrics are quite sinister, gleefully gory as usual and carrying the "insanity" thread quite well throughout... and strenghtened by some effectively unsettling intros and samples. Oh and I forgot to mention the remarkable cover version of Grave's "Deformed"... Beautiful!

Impaled Review: Impaled is a band I pretty much always omitted to review in these pages (I love em though... I have their cd's and will definitely review em someday, maybe in retrospect but still...) So, their style is almost like a spin-off on Exhumed, (which is basicly old Carcass-style grind-gore allied to old Dismember-style melodic/aggressive death metal), but they equal them in every aspect (perhaps even surpass them in some of them), musically, lyrically, everything else... Songwriting is bloody brilliant, sound production is crisp, Impaled is quite simply one of the finest death metal band I've had the pleasure to hear in years... So, let me see, you've got dual ultra-guttural growls and manic shrieking, dynamic, complex, thrashing & sharp guitar work, tight, pounding and blasting drumming... This is riveting, blazing death metal with an edge; first rate composing, great flow, thick & heavy sound production... Honestly, not one second is boring. Always keeping in mind the "insanity" concept, all the lyrics form some kind of a continuing horror story set in a mental hospital... first you've got medical atrocities/malpractice, followed by mental patients revolting, taking over, slaughtering the medical staff, then various other kinds of madness, mayhem & violence ensuing... Great care is brought to the whole thing, from the excellent intros recorded for the occasion to the lyrics written with minutiae, all according to the grand Carcass tradition, incorporating pathological terms into the stories/lyrics, giving actual names to guitar solis,etc... The festivities end with a very nice cover version of "Helga Lost Her Head", originally by Repulsion. Deranged concept, brilliant imagery and 2 of the most interesting and consistent splatter grindcore/death metal. Needless to say, this cd is absolutely essential.

Haemorrhage Tracks: 1)Intro 2)Slaved to Dismember 4)Psychotic Delirium 5)Deformed (Grave) 6)In the Name of Sanity
Impaled Tracks: 7)Survival of the Sickest 8)Deranged 9)The Patients are Revolting 10)Psycho-Surgery 11)Bedlam 12)Surgikill 13)Helga lost her head

Review:
I was lucky enough to get this new Haemorrhage album a little earlier. And well, it's just awesome, what can I say? A real nice, gory musical carnage. I thought it was more in the vein of "Anatomical Inferno" than anything else. It doesn't click right in the grind area like "Grume" once did. On the other hand, I also thought it was more Repulsion and Carcass influenced than ever. This album's kinda more homogenic than usual too, on all their albums there are hits can stick out of the bunch like "Anatomized", "Dissect, Exhume, Devour..." or "Surgery for the dead". Here all the songs have pretty much the same dynamic. Hell, anyway, you know what to expect. It's tight, fast gorecore, with squeaky vocals and a whole lot of sickening vocal effects, great fruity grindy riffs... the sound production is better than ever and it's just an album you have to have, it'll be one of the major gore releases this year. Haemorrhage still kicks serious ass!

Tracks: 1)Mortuary Riot 2)Oozing Molten Gristle 3)Midnight Mortician 4)Virulent Mass Necropsy 5)Funeral Carnage 6)Obnoxious (Surgeon of the Dead) 7)Exhuming Impulse 8)Unlock the Morgue 9)Sublime Surgical Epitaph 10)Morgue Sweet Home 11)Mangled Surgical Epitaph 12)The Forensic Reguiems 13)Dirge for the Sick 14)Intravenous Molestation of Obstructionist Arteries (O-Pus IV)

Review:
That's the Haemorrhage cover mini-cd. Great cover versions of some of my fave bands by my fave band. Starts brilliantly with Defecation, it's an only roaring-vocals song performed by Luisma I think (Haemorrhage should have more on these vocals). Then, great covers ensue, like Carcass "Pyosified", Entombed "Premature autopsy", Regurgitate "Disgorging Foetus" and Impetigo "Dear Uncle Creepy"... I won't go into details for all of them, but these are excellent performances on every versions, with a kicking sound production and hellish energy. Believe me all those are wonderful, blazing interpretations... showing Haemorrhage greatness and ease in performing other people's work. Note that the Regurgitate cover was in fact on the Picture Disc version of "Anatomical Inferno", but the rest was especially recorded for this record. Also there's an original song by Haemorrhage, "Oozing molten gristle" and it's a great one. You also have the band's notes about each cover version choice inside. All in all it's yet another fantastic effort by Haemorrhage and a must-hear record for all their fans.

Tracks: 1)Intro-Megaton (Defecation) 2)Vestiges of Earthly Remains (Defecation) 3)Pyosified (Rotten to the Gore) (Carcass) 4)Premature autopsy (Entombed) 5)Disgorging Foetus (Regurgitate) 6)Oozing Molten Gristle 7)Dear uncle creepy (Impetigo) 8)Fascist pig (Suicidal Tendencies) 9)M.A.D. (Cryptic Slaughter) 10)Satanic masowhore (Impaled Nazarene) 11)Doctor doctor (UFO)

Review: This one is a must-have for all true gore-core lovers. Especially for the unlucky ones who haven't got their hands on Haemorrhage promo tapes or split vinyl 7"eps. It's also a must-have for those who got their hands on those anyway, coz they don't wanna miss a compilation of all this masterful gore encrusted grind-death material coming with crisp digital cd sound. Man, the band keeps growing on me along the years. Rediscovering the material on such a complete compilation made me crave for more awaiting for a new full-length opus. If you know Haemorrhage first 3 infamous albums, you already know most of the tracks, but not in those versions. And believe me, they worth a listening, they're much rawer and crazy, and personally I prefer most of these versions than the ones from the regular albums. Anyway, there are also a few extra songs you probably never heard before. Like the great General Surgery & the groovy Kortatu cover versions. Plus, the icing on the cake with the "Extreme Ulceration" finale, it's the first song Haemorrhage ever composed, which never featured in any record either, recently recorded in studio. If all those goodies didn't left you salivating, I really don't know what I said wrong. Comes with decomposed corpses packaging and Luisma art; utterly disgusting as usual. A Must-Have like everything by Haemorrhage.

Tracks: 1)Decom-poser 2)Fragments (anatomical relics) 3)Dissect, exhume, devour... 4)Torrent like eventeration 5)Malignant cancroid formation 6)Intravenous molestation 7)Excavating the iliac fossa 8)Uncontrollable proliferation of neoplasm 9)Rectovaginal fistula 10)Enshrouded in putrilage 11)Surgery for the dead 12)Slithering of the ulcerous facial tissue(General Surgery cover) 13)The sickening aroma of a rectal carcinoma 14)Cirrhoetic liver distillation 15)Worm-infested cavities 16)Zu atrapatu artek(Kortatu cover) 17)Extreme ulceration

HAEMORRHAGE "Anatomical Inferno" Cd

Review: A third album on Morbid Records by my favourite spanish band Haemorrhage. They get more professional and interesting with every new release. I although must say it's not as extreme and grindy as "Grume". But the songs work perfectly, wonderfully composed and performed, preserving grindcore factors up all along the line. This band truly have an own identity and personal sound, even if you feel they're badly inspired by gods like early Carcass and Repulsion. The quality of sound is powerful, clean and still keep a little raw thing I love. You have basic grind riffs which always work so well, tight groovy fast drumming keeping the catchy line during the whole album. And always a great variety of sickly insane vocals; from maniac putrid highpitched screams to low gruntroars à la Bill Steer (Carcass) and additional gurgling splattery grotesque vocal effects (essential ingredient to the mix). The gruesome concept about the two deranged pathologists Dr. Obnoxious and Dr. Corpse Grinder is again present in the artwork as well as in the lyrics. Luisma's comic-like illustrations are really exciting, it's really great work. Catch the vinyl Picture Disc too, it has different artwork and 2 bonus tracks. Definitely the masterpiece of year 98.

Tracks: 1)Enshrouded in putrilage 2)A cataleptic rapture 3)Surgery for the dead 4)Treasures of anatomy 5)Necrotic garbage 6)Putritorium 7)Dawn in the rotting paradise 8)Aftertaste of putrefaction 9)Worminfested cavities 10)I'm a pathologist 11)Cirrhoetic liver distillation 12)Witness of forensic horror 13)Dying on a mass of chyme and rancid excrement 14)Set the morgue on fire

HAEMORRHAGE "Grume" Cd

  (Morbid Records)
Release date:
1996

Review: Here is the second Haemorrhage effort: faster, with more grind, gore, punk, groove, and frenzy vocal effects, as well as a bit of melody(!!). A milestone of GRIND/GORE, one of the best album(the best?) of the genre for 1996; in my mind... All the songs here are excellent, shorter and with less "death metal" slow part like on "Emetic cult". There's a better sound too!!! Lyrics are always dealing with gore, insanity, pathology and are truly funny! After the last song "Far beyond the forensic pathology", there's another hidden track(which is in fact "Intravenous molestation of obstructionist arteries(part 3)", a pretty good surprise; simply a kill-craze fury!!! They scream, shout & cry while drums crush all around and guitars expulse extremely distorted sounds... The whole album is totally frenetic and you must get it to be true to grindcore.

Tracks: 1)Incinerator of cadaveric leftovers 2)Exquisite eschatology 3)Torrent like eventeration 4)Dissect, exhume, devour... 5)Putrescent necromorphism 6)Cartilageous pulped offals 7)Decom-posers 8)Fragments (Anatomical relics) 9)In nephritic blue 10)Ectopic eye 11)Intravenous molestation of obstructionist arteries(o-pus 2) 12)Rectovaginal fistula 13)Formaldehyde 14)Far beyond the forensic pathology

HAEMORRHAGE "Emetic cult" Cd

  (Morbid Records)
Release date:
1996

Review: This is the Haemorrhage debut album: great release, a joyful grinding gore moment! The music is a putrid melting pot of fast and mid-tempos with screamy type of vocals(maligna vox), death metal gruntroars and poignant backing vocal effects... Lyrics are exceedingly deranged: morbid, funny, necrophilic and pathological above all. Maybe the guitars and the drums do not sound not very loud, but they are catchy and thrashy enough to not make it weak and boring. Of course, a confirmed early Carcass influence can easily be felt. There are two front covers: one with two eviscerated human beings tied by the feet; and the other one is a big close up to bleeding flesh. Some grindgore hits like "Uncontrollable proliferation of neoplasm", "Decrepit neoplasm", "Escavating the iliac fossa", "Via-anal introspection", "Anatomized" and "Foetal mincer" are in this album... You need to hear "Emetic Cult"! I know that! Also features an introduction from necrophiliac gore movie, Nekromantik... Sick sick sick!!!

Tracks: 1)Nekromantik/Uncontrollable proliferation of neoplasm 2)Decrepit dejection 3)Dilacerate the sweet diabetic diabolism 4)Deranged for loathsome 5)Escavating the iliac fossa 6)Grotesque embryon pathology 7)Intravenous molestation of obstructionist arteries(o-pus) 8)Via-anal introspection 9)Fermented postmortem 10)Cadaveric metamorphose 11)Anatomized 12)Pernicious dyseptic invoculation 13)Foetal mincer 14)Expectorating pulmonary mucopurulence
