ENGORGED/GRUESOME STUFF RELISH Split 12" LP

(Last House on the Right Records - HAUS004)
Release date: 2004

Review:
A match made in hell! Both bands made up of maniacs bred with horror movies, thrashing and grinding their way through this piece of vinyl! The Lp kicks off with 5 Engorged tracks, first is a short and fast grinder of a song, kind of an opener to the rest of this side which then turns into heavier, thrashing goodness, material simply in continuity to Engorged latest cd... Growling and shrieking vocals (and a levelheaded use of piquant pitch-shifted effects), incisive guitars, some blunt drumming... The band doesn't fail to deliver their usual cinephilic touch with each song dealing with a different segment from George Romero's classic anthology horror flick "Creepshow". Anyways, I'd say this is a really nice appetizer for their upcoming cd! Just bring it on!
Spanish goregrind attack on side B! 2 original tracks and a Dead Infection cover ("After Accident" my favorite track off "Surgical Disembowelment"). What can I say? Gruesome Stuff Relish yet again delivers some really solid and delightfully heavy material... Beautiful grinding simplicity, crushing midtempos, sneering shrieks, gurgling pitch-shifted growls and downtuned, raw guitar riffs that make me feel all warm inside... Always a pleasure to listen to. Ok, this split's also been released on cd, but the Lp has the awesome giant sized Dennis Dread art going for it, you can't beat that...

Tracks: Engorged: 1)Father's Day 2)The Lonesome death of Jordy Verrill 3)Something to Tide You Over 4)The Crate 5)They're Creeping Up on You
Gruesome Stuff Relish: 1)The Plague 2)Gomia 3)After Accident (Dead Infection)

GRUESOME STUFF RELISH "Last Men in Gore" Cd

(Motosierra Records )
Release date:
2003
Running time: 36:34

Review:
This Cd starts with 5 brand new songs in the vein of Gruesome Stuff Relish debut full length cd... Highly effective Goregrind/Death with a horror edge, more heavy and mid-tempo than blazing fast, with a really amazing, clear and powerful sound production. Something in the vein of General Surgery & Necrony, basic and clear-cut loud-as-hell riffs, tight crushing drumming and a mix of vicious shrieking and backing vocal effect growling. Lyrics are simplistic but fun and horror-influenced and filled with movie references. This cd is actually a collection of different recordings, the rest of the tracks being taken from their unreleased Ep called "Last Men Alive" and their first release, the out of print Split Cd w/ Brutality Reigns Supreme... This material has a slightly less good sound production than the first 5 tracks, but it still kicks major ass, big sounding, screaming and gurgling, catchy gore grinding death all the way! With a neat italian horror influence perspiring through the whole thing, Gruesome Stuff Relish is just too cool to be true. An outstanding collection cd then, crammed with 36 tracks of pure unadulterated gory grind fun... Really neat laytout and cover design as well.

Tracks: 1)Zombie creeping flesh (Savage flesh eaters II) 2)Broken gravestones 3)Stone knives 4)Teenage giallo grind 5)Crawling death 6)Last men alive 7)One more victim 8)Walk among the living 9)Don't feel shame 10)Green inferno 11)Swamp carnage 12)Throwin' up the sickness 13)Wild Borneo 14)(They are) The rot crew 15)Mondo freaky II (Jvn's revenge) 16)El Duce Inn massacre 17)I can hear their squeak 18)It'll be the end 19)All they need is blood 20)Cannibalistic bloodfeats 21)Mondo freaky 22)Soft dead skin 23)The bite of the zombie 24)Naked and wide-eyed 25)Redneck apocalypse 26)Lunch time 27)Somewhere at an altar 28)King of psychos 29)I relish the gruesome stuff 30)Eaten alive 31)They are everywhere 32)Exhumed stuff 33)Let's kill somebody tonight 34)Meat is murder!! 35)Zombie wizard 36)Savage flesh eaters

SPLATTERHOUSE/GRUESOME STUFF RELISH Split Mcd

(No Escape Records)
Release date:
2003

Splatterhouse Review: This side is the same as the demo cd I already reviewed here. Very effective death-grind with a touch of gore. Elaborate riffs, thrashing, occasionally melodic but very straightforward, tight drumming and dual growling/shrieking vocals... All very well-performed, definitely in the vein of Exhumed. The last song is a very nice Haemorrhage cover version. Very clean sound, powerful production and entertaining gory lyrics.
Gruesome Stuff Relish: This is unreleased (I think) material from GSR, as usual excellent grindgore, amazing, warping sound production, tight and basic song structures, simple and catchy heavy riffs, squeaky shrieks, pitch-shifted gory backing vocals, always in the vein of General Surgery/early Carcass/Necrony/Haemorrhage... Fascinating Italo-spanish horror influenced lyrics... Just 5 really excellent tracks by one of the finest grindgore bands around! With gorgeous artwork and packaging, this split mcd is a must-have for all gore fiends!

Splatterhouse Tracks: 1)Maggot sermon 2)Awash in gore 3)Splatterhouse 4)Decom-posers (Haemorrhage)
Gruesome Stuff Relish Tracks: 5)The last survivor 6)Curse of the Templar Knights 7)Don't feel shame 8)Zombie madness 9)Jungle of flesh-eatin' beings

GRUESOME STUFF RELISH "Teenage Giallo Grind" Cd

( Razorback Records - RR10)
Release date: 2002

Review: Color me totally @#%$ blown away! The disc's on repeat, at maximum volume, I can't seem to get fed up with it, it's so addictive! Flesh-ripping, deliquescent gorecore all the way! I'm gonna evacuate all the influences I could feel on this album all at once: There's alot of Haemorrhage in there (striking resemblance in sound, guitars and vocals), some Necrony/General Surgery for the heaviness, a bit of Impetigo mostly for the horror obsessed themes, Regurgitate for the sickening gurgling vocal effects and for the really tight drumming during the crushing fast grind parts; and of course old Carcass (being the band who influenced most of of the bands I previously cited). There, now that's done, I can move on... So yeah, it's the best stuff Gruesome Stuff Relish ever recorded and it lasts 30 minutes and 30 songs! The sound's truly powerful, very metal. There's alot of grind and some death metal, all mangled in a sickening gorecore meatgrinder, soaked in barfy vocal effects, downright scary squirlings and raging roars. Argh! That's just totally my kind of carcass-dismembering, gore-encrusted grind! Taste it gorecore legions, and Gruesome Stuff Relish will become your favorite drug. Oh some last words about the band's concept, it's all about old italian horror! The simplistic horror lyrics are such a blast! All either about zombies or cannibals, what else do you wanna hear about? The lyrics of "Spaghetti Terror" are really touching and band members all have suspicious names: Santiago Argento, Paolo Deodato & Noel Kemper, or maybe it's all just a lucky coincidence. The cover is filled with great mondo posters and old horror comic artwork. Need i Say More?

Tracks: 1)Coming Back to Life 2)Grand Guignol Cannibale 3)L'Aldilà 4)Savage Men... Savage Beasts 5)Bizarre Sacrifice 6)Enchanted Bodies 7)Zombified Crowd 8)Cannibal Freakout 9)Skull Collectors of Borneo 10)The Gruesome Horror Begins 11)Jungle Rites 12)Kwaheri 13)Spaghetti Terror (is Pretty Cool) 14)Black Demons 15)Malignant Virus Infection 16)Deep River Savages 17)Somewhere at an Altar 2 18)Jungles of the Matto Grosso 19)Voodoo Ritual 20)Zombie Wizard 21)Last Men Alive 22)One More Victim 23)Mondo Chelano (The Naked Truth) 24)In the Cold 25)Lost in the Green Hell 26)El Lamento de los Zombies 27)Prisoner of the Cannibal God 28)Cinema Verité Style 29)Eaten Alive 30)It's the End of the World (as We Know it)

BRUTALITY REIGNS SUPREME/GRUESOME STUFF RELISH "Brothers in Gore" Split Cd

(BIZARRE LEPROUS PRODUCTIONS)
Release date: 2001

BRS Review: Terrific Split Cd opening with Brutality Reigns Supreme - one of Netherland's coolest band. If you know their previous stuffs, they haven't changed a bit. Which is a good thing in their case; coz they kick serious ass. It's very basic but brutal grind-death, really heavy and kinda raw too. Crushing guitar riffs à la Blood, programmed drums and song structure in perfect Mortician way, totally gore vocals a little like Last Days of Humanity, and a general sound that reminds me early Agathocles. References are to give the idea, but BRS have their own recognizable sound, kinda funny and simple, with very special vocal effects and a brutish heavy rawness of their very own. It's the kind of stuff I love, with horror intros and scary grind music.

Gruesome Stuff Relish Review: Things get even better with this awesome spanish grind-gore band (with a guy from Repugnance, other excellent band). One of the closest thing to Carcass first album "Reek of Putrefaction" I've heard. Especially those crazy high guitar notes, kinda manic (non-technical) solis. The vocals are also very 88' Carcass, high maligna voice with a lot of gurgling backing gore effects. Great, heavy grind guitar riffs and kinda brutish chaotic drums. Like Carcass, it's not all-out fastness, there are more moderate parts and it's all tight and heavy stuff. Really neat. It's the first time I hear them and I'm a Gruesome Stuff Relish fanatic. That's a band that shows serious gore talent. The cover is very slick, but full of totally great comic-book type horror artwork, it looks awesome. This Split is a grind event I wouldn't miss if I were you, so now you know.

BRS Tracks: 1) I'm not insane 2) Bleed and suffer 3) Release your hate 4) Cannibalism 5) Scream for vengeance 6) Strangulation 7) Incest 8) I don't take it 9) Ancient wishdom 10) Bitch II 11) Let me die 12) Sadistic forces 13) Your god brings war 14) BBQ at state prison 15) Necrophilliac lovers 16) Boneyard (Impetigo cover)
Gruesome Stuff Relish Tracks: 17) All they need is blood 18) Cannibalistic bloodfeast 19) Mondo freaky 20) Soft dead skin 21) The bite of the zombie 22) Naked and wide eyed 23) Redneck apocalypse 24) Lunch time 25) Somewhere at an altar 26) King of psycho's 27) I relesh the gruesome stuff 28) Eaten alive 29) They are everywhere 30) Exhumed stuff 31) Let's kill someone tonight 32) Meat is murder 33) Zombie wizard 34) Savage flesh eaters
