Review: Absolute masterpiece
here! The next best thing after Entombed's "Left Hand Path"
in terms of swedish death metal. Dismember formed in the ashes of Carnage...
the album's title is really telling because their death metal just flows
extremely well, that's their major quality, buzzsaw guitars, a barrage
of heavy riffs, incredibly catchy, fast and mid-paced drumming (NO blasts)
and great natural vocals (which are more like shouts, quite different
from the more common guttural death metal growling, they just don't
feel forced at all, the other great power of this band) this album just
takes my breath away every time. The guitar riffs are actually very
melodic but at the time, Dismember balanced their compositions perfectly,
melody, heaviness and aggression blended perfectly (unlike their later
albums where the melody becomes sickeningly overbearing). "Like
an Ever Flowing Stream" is a wild ride, songs are masterfully structured
and composed, with gripping riffs and melodies, savage guitar solis...
This is Dismember's best alnum and a definite death metal classic.
