Review:
Damn you Dead Infection! Leaving us hanging like that for so many years... I was eagerly awaiting for a new DI offering even before their untimely break-up in 1999. "A Chapter of Accidents" is quite possibly my most-played cd ever right after "F.E.T.O." by Napalm Death... So how does this album fare after all these years of anticipation? Well it's fucking awesome is what it is! Ok I guess my reaction is not so unexpected with me having started a website about them out of fanaticism and all... But that's the absolute unbiased truth! Obviously their style has changed a little with time, but in my opinion Dead Infection developped into something different with each of their releases... From the raw mix of goregrind & death metal of the early demo's to the cryptic muddy sounding "Surgical Disembowelment" and the furiously grinding "A Chapter of Accidents"... On "Brain Corrosion", Dead Infection picks up where they left off on their Split Ep's w/ C.S.S.O. & Malignant Tumour. A more clear-cut, straightforward burly grind and an bizarre sense of humor more prominent than ever... Less dark, much funner and explosive... Sound-wise, this is without doubt their most "polished" effort... Seriously, they never actually sounded so overwhelmingly heavy! Although I'd say the major difference here is the total abandon of pitch-shifted vocal effects, but then again, in a way it's actually more faithful to what the band actually sounds like in a live situation. I've never heard the band use vocal effects live personally... It also reminds me alot of their split Ep w/ Blood, entitled "Party's Over" which was vocal effect-free and also one of my personal favorite recordings by the band... Anyway, Jaro's vocals really sound like insane, totally drunken growls now and they will probably put some people off, it's definitely one of those love it or hate it factor; I just know I love it... Another novelty is the use of truly whacked out screamy backing vocals... but they really only take a backseat here, nothing too intrusive... What's to say about the riffs? They're fantastic! This is some really dense riffing, so catchy and memorable... More plain and basic than in the past but still with the trademark downtuned scary Dead Infection-ness... These riffs just ring totally right, like if I've known the songs for years... I also feel a more pronounced infusion of groove overall, and perhaps more grindcore-type breakdowns, stuff like that... And last but not least, the real star of the show to me is Cyjan and his signature spectacular drumming, so damn tight, I think Cyjan has developped a drumming style of his own, it's just amazing to simply hear that sound again on some amazing 22 spanking new songs! Alright, that's about it... Crazed raving over... End of transmission.

DEAD INFECTION "The Greatest Shits"

(Obscene Productions)
Release date:
1998

Review:
The wait for the release of new long length Dead Infection album is getting very hard to bear for many people. Well, this will probably calm down some eager grind freaks during a while... Like Necrony did with their "Necronycism: distorting the otiginals", Dead Infection pay hommage to their favourite bands in a nice mini cd. They perform brilliant cover versions for big grind bands like Carcass, Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Regurgitate, Agathocles, General Surgery & Ulcerous Phlegm... The sound production is heavy and really clean, with a tight drum sound, firm guitars and exceptional vocals, distorted splattery effects or just natural growls, some of the most hideous, grotesque, dirtiest growls I have ever heard. The real surprises are the singed psalms for intro and outro, it's like church male chants, with hilarious titles: "Psalms about computers" & "Psalms about storage battery". As well as Tocha performing a few techno tracks... But it's really worthless stuff, just bad techno, and nothing very funny; remixes of some Dead Infection songs would have maybe been a little more interesting. Well, I personally think using these songs was a mistake, but the psalms are ok, coz they are short, only intro and outro of the record. And the other weird bonus is a Bee Gees "Stayin' alive" drum remix, where only drum parts have been re-recorded and added to the original song, with a much more grindy feeling. I enjoyed this idea, though some of you may not really appreciate. Anyway, this mcd is a must-have for all the Dead Infection freaks. Especially for the great grind covers. Inside the cover there's a map showing where the D.I. members are living, this is a nice idea too. I think Dead Infection wanted to make their fun side more obvious on this record, they will probably follow this way in the future.

Tracks: 1)Psalms about computers 2)Total dismemberment of a female corpse 3)Raping the earth 4)D.I. 5)Clean the scene 6)Slithering maceration of ulcerous facial tissue 7)Stayin' alive 8)Consequence 9)Owce 10)Prison without walls 11)Pungent excruciation 12)Psalms about storage battery

DEAD INFECTION "Human slaughter... till remains"

(Morbid Records)
Release date:
1997

Review:
This cd is in fact (de)composed of the two DEAD INFECTION's demo tapes, "World full of remains" and "Start human slaughter"... all this sheer sickness is remastered for the pleasure of ears... and you can know listen again to these cult tunes that are "Intestine changing into carrion", "In the name of gore", "Start human slaughter", "Torsions", "Gangrene of skin" or "Pulsating gore"... In fact every track is memorable! Honestly, "Start human slaughter" demo is not their best release, because it's too death metal oriented, but "World full of remains is really my favourite Dead Infection material after "A Chapter of Accidents"! Some of the sickest vocals ever performed! It's just a masterpiece of death/grind/gore! Sick gore spattered anatomical pix for the cover too!

Tracks: 1)Start human slaughter 2)In the grey memory 3)Dead again 4)Tribe of the glutinous tissue 5)World full of remains 6)Rip it 7)In the name of gore 8)Torsions 9)Peritonitis 10)Intro 11)Pulsating Gore 12)Day Of Decay 13)Intestine Change Into Carrion 14)A wild Stench 15)Maggots In Your Flesh 16)Let Me Vomit 17)Fermentation 18)Gangrene of skin 19)Haemorrhage Of Uterus

DEAD INFECTION "A Chapter of Accidents"

(Morbid Records)
Release date:
1995
Running time: 38:42

Review:
With "A Chapter of Accidents" and their previous split 7"ep with Blood, Dead Infection clearly took a new musical direction, different from their earlier material. Far more grinding, gory and straightforward! They skipped all the boring death metal parts from their compositions, keeping the essential, pure brutal core! Guitar riffs are so heavy and catchy! With a sheer feeling of terror and anguish through it! Drums are amazing, smashing, percussive, some of the fastest I ever heard! But in the same time, they are tremendously ponderous, with tons of rolling breaks and supportive crusty midtempos. The brilliant vocals range from bestial ultra-deep growls to more high-pitched harmonized vox (in Regurgitate vein). Lyrics are formidable, like little stories, about any kind of accident able to happen in daily life! (car, train or plane crashes, defective surgical operations, brutal demise of dear familes and friends...), all the time, really tragic and touchy, but with lots of bloody details... Front cover with this splattery head is sickening, like the rest of the pictures of rotting corpses all over the digipack cover! Strong sensations for gorehounds! I'd say it's THE reference in matter of fucking raw & brutal gore-grind! The first listening can be painful if you are not a big grindcore listener: though the sound production is powerful and heavy, it's also really foggy... But all the ways, to my mind, this is an undisputed grindcore milestone! As imporpant as Napalm Death "F.E.T.O.", Carcass "Reek of putrefaction" and Regurgitate "Effortless regurgitation..."... Definitely, a MUST-HEAR!!!

Tracks: 1)From The Anatomical Deeps 2)Autophagia 3)The End Of Love 4)Hospital 5)Incident At Corsica 6)Airplane's Catastrophe 7)Little John's Story 8)Her Heart In Your Hands 9)Ambulance 10)Colitis Ulcerosa 11)Life Of A Surgeon 12)Fire In The Forest 13)Damaged Elevator 14)The Firing Ground 15)Tragedy At The Railway Station 16)Don't Turn His Crushed Face On Me 17)Torn By The Lion Apart 18)The Merry-Go-Round

DEAD INFECTION "Surgical disembowelment"

(Morbid Records)
Release date:
1993

Review:
Dead Infection recorded this album for Morbid Records in 1993, keeping up playing death-grind in the vein of their second demo, "Start human slaughter"... Though they sound way more basic and simplistic there... The sound is not great, but very heavy... with sharp and worked drumming (cool blasts plus real groovy midtempos), rather down-tuned guitars and extremely low-pitched vocals (reminding Lee Dorian from Napalm Death on "Mentally murdered" ep, or Agathocles on "Distrust and abuse" ep). The vocals sound too loud on the mix, it seems there's a small effect on them, and they're a little annoying at times. The lyrics are medical or pathological most of the time, but nothing exceptional! Apart from the weak mix, you really feel a great heavy and grindy energy behind "Surgical disembowelment", an dto me, this is a cult item! Many noticeable influences from early Napalm Death, Carcass or Agathocles, and a quite important step in gory grind genre...

Tracks: 1)Maggots in your flesh 2)Pathological view on the alimentary canal 3)Torsions 4)Undergo an operation 5)After accident 6)Xenomorph 7)Let me vomit 8)Spattered birth 9)Start human slaughter 10)Deformed creature
