DERANGED "Deranged" Cd

(Listenable Records)
Release date: 2001

Review: OK. I didn't get this one for promo, so I can bitch... Just kidding! Or maybe not? Whatever... So, this is big bad brutal death metal with great sound, production and all... It's really awesome, although I wasn't overly excited. Maybe my death metal mood is fading, just for now and I will adore it in a week or so. I have changing musical moods you know... But anyway, right now I think I still prefer "Rated X" or "Sculture of the Dead". There's also a different singer here (different than the first Cd, I still don't have "High on Blood" or "III"... can't have everything!), and he's doing about the same work as the first one, but I guess I have a thing for the first one, loved his growls. The music is about the same though, the drumming is especially characteristic, it has this feel that make Deranged special... I think the blastbeats can get vain sometimes, but some other rythms are real headbangy. Thrashing death metal riffs are still in the same Deranged vein, very recognizable. So, this is real good and superior quality and all that, and Deranged has a strong personality, but it could be even more exciting, I don't know what! Maybe more grind, and even more extreme vocals? But I'm insane, it's a really great awesome brutal death band, better than most bands on the scene right now. One thing I'm sure, the new logo sucks! The old one was so great, why change it? Also, I miss the short and intense horror intros, they were real fun on "Rated X" and they were definitely fitting with the band's music. The intros or interludes on this one are very odd, they kill the mood, but there's only a few of them hopefully. Anyway, death metal fans know Deranged, so yeah, they're always brutal and great that way. I thought this one was very much like Sinister "Hate" Cd, so if you like that, go for it!

Tracks: 1)Flesh Rebel 2)Cum on command 3)Dead hand strangulation 4)Endophagy 5)Injected by filth 6)La orgia de los muertos 7)Humanity; God's failure 8)Malebolgia 9)Incurable 10)Impulse, prey, pleasure 11)Screen passion

DERANGED "Rated X"

(Repulse Records)
Release date: 1995

Review: Now we're talking about brutal, extreme and uncompromising death metal! Even tough the band is from Sweden, no musical connection with other swedish bands like Entombed, Grave or Unleashed can be heard. No, Deranged plays a different, expeditious, intense and undeniably fast death metal; The horrific mood is set with some samples directly taken from cult old horror movies... And oddly, I found the swift guitars riffs very joyful, and making me more happy than in fear... but don't get me wrong, guitars are very well-played, brisk, and cutting like sharp razors. Brilliant guitar solos are also perfectly performed, and appear between the savage excursions, like to give a rest to the listener's cracking mind; But Deranged vigour basicly comes from a drastic and energic drumming; rythms are diversified, but always conduct to ultimate blastbeating outbreaks. The vocals play a considerable role too; Per Gyllenbäck's unique ultraguttural and growling vocal style make Barney Greenway and Chris Barnes sound like singing birds... About 40 minutes running time release, finishing with a humoristic ROLLING STONE"Paint it black" cover... lyrics are always sex or murder oriented... sound is clear but not enough heavy, I would have liked to hear more bass... Anyway, you can't ignore this great album if you're really into death metal...

Tracks: 1)Black semen vengeance 2)Killing spree 3)(Clim)Axe 4)Narcissistic sleighride 5)Unleash my Hunger 6)Razor tongue 7)I'm the love undertaker 8)... As a Wolf 9)Sixteen and Dead 10)Paint it Black

DERANGED "Scuplture of the Dead"

(Repulse Records)
Release date: 1994

Review: This mini-album was recorded before "Rated-X", in August 94, but stayed unreleased until 1998 when Repulse records finally re-release it as an unique mini-cd... Before that, it appeared as bonus cd on first copies of "Rated-X" cd... The cover is taken from the sick italian gore movie 'Cannibal holocaust" and the songs are itroduced with some samples from some other filthy horror movies. Musically, "Sculpture of the dead" is the best Deranged release. As usual, this is absolute brutal death metal, with insane growling vocals, infallible blastbeating drums, skilful, vivacious guitars... and a conspicuous genius in composing process: songs are all majestically constructed, and captivating because of an intact & tumultuous visceral brutality. Sickening lyrics and unalterable dementia still feed the band's spirit. It's a great mini-album.

Tracks: 1)Infernal vaginal bleeding 2)The bowels of my dismay 3)Majestic hole 4)Sculpture of the dead

DERANGED "Architects of Perversion"

(Repulse Records)
Release date: 1994

Review: After several odiously brutal demos, Deranged finally released this first mini-cd, recorded on 1993/early 1994. "Architects of perversion" is plainly sick: Some sadomaso and horror intros, perverse lyrics, and prodigous death/grind music, a typical Deranged release... Guttural vocals(with some screamy backing vox), hammering drums, and guitars full with lead... the surprise is Mike Amott(Carcass) who features in lead guitar; so expect some melodic solos... But this ep is the heavier, most grinding Deranged stuff; but it isn't always catchy enough...

Tracks: 1)Architects of perversions 2)Coagulated seminal fluids 3)Stairway to hell 4)Hammer cottered rectum 5)Rigid anatomy art
