Interview with Witter, by E-mail.

Are you often asked for interviews. Do you usually think it's fun or just fucking boring?
I used to do lots of interviews but it's kinda slowing down now. I've been out of touch with the underground inorder to concentrate on my true hobby; collecting toys and dissecting bugs. I actually think it's fun to do interviews.

I'm not clear on this, so I was wondering if DxSx was a one-piece band or if you were more in there?
DxSx is a one-man project. I do the recordings and play the instruments.

What (bands? or any other reason) made you wanna form Decomposing Serenity in the first place? Were you involved in any another band or underground stuff before that? And, can you think of a description of what you do?
DxSx is my first band and 'rectify the anal bombshell' was the first release. My influences are Megadeth, Slayer, L7, Duran Duran, Sheryl Crow, Macabre, Suicidal Tendencies, Warsore,...etc. DxSx plays grinding noise with a touch of death.

What was the first DxSx stuff you ever put out? When was that?
'Rectify...' was released about 6 years ago (I think).

Do you write lyrics for the songs? and are you inspired by movies, or serial killers to built DxSx imagery/song titles?
Yes, I do write lyrics for my songs and they are inspired by fantasies of mine.

Your sound is very intense, raw and kinda obscure... Do you record the stuff by yourself? In what place? What equipment do you use?
Yes, I do the recordings myself and I use about 6 different pedals with a Jackson guitar and Marshall amp.

What is the best DxSx recording, or major one in your mind?
The best DxSx recording so far is the latest one which is unreleased as yet. It's called 'ceased to breathe when it is dead'. It might be a split ep with Pantalones Abajo Marinero (sick band from USA). The split ep with Viscera is pretty good too. Boy, do I have a huge ego or what?

On the split cd with Vomito (out on Lofty Storm), "Give the children her severed head" the artwork is really creepy, with dolls and dead babies pictures. Is the idea from you?
Yes, it was my idea but Fernando did the artwork. He is an awesome designer from Brazil. Grind bands please contact him if you want an awesome cover!

I also have that DxSx/Viscera split Ep, and I've been reading on the details from the distro list where I bought it, that it was smeared in blood or something like that. That's right, there's some kind of trail, but it's really pink. So.. is it just ink?
I ran out of blood for the ep covers so I had to mix it with strawberry juice.  I couldnt find enough kangaroos to kill either.

What do you think of the bands who shared split releases with you. Like Vomito, Viscera, Sadistic Lingham Cult etc...
All the bands I shared the split with are awesome!! Every single one of them.

I can never find what your intros are taken from... Some of them sound like movies, and others like documentaries about serial killers... If you could give away some of the sources... (if ever you remember some of them!) it'd be cool...
They are taken from horror flicks and documentries of serial killers. 5 points for Pierre!!!!
(ha!)

What bands, records (and movies) are you really into these days?
I watch everything. I'm really into cartoons like Transformers, Sponge Bob, G.I. Joe and Centurions.

Truly fun bands are from Australia, like Filth, Viscera, WarSore, Blood Duster... Are you in contact with some them? and please name some more who you think deserves attention.....
Undinism and Warsore are probably the best bands from Australia. They both deserve to have a cut of the body in my freezer.

You said to me before you got new DxSx shirts, so how do they look like? and can people get DxSx stuffs from you? Please feel free to list whatever's available and how to get it...
The new DxSx shirts are actually almost out but fear not........Morbid Records stock them. New shirts should be out in a few months. Write to me for DxSx merchandise and info:
