Review: It's the first
grind, death (or whatever) band from India I hear, ever, and this is
actually very good. The sound is rather dry and raw but still, the stuff
definitely reeks of grinding energy and has a lot of bizarre ideas that
drove me insane. It has a prominent Engorged flavour, certainly due
to the presence of the ex-Engorged vocalist in the line-up... Actually,
"Death Attack II" had the same kind of raw sound production
as well. And there's also the use of hysterical movie samples, pretty
similar to Engorged (and unfortunately no samples from Bollywood musicals...).
Where the style of this band is a bit different is that it's definitely
crazy stuff. The band name explicits it, the songs can go in an opposite
direction in an instant, from a noisy delirium to cheerful singing and
then a twisted metal riff might come crashing in the middle... they
also work weird sound effects and power electronics inside the songs;
that works quite great. Early Exit 13 ("Don't Spare the Green Love")
also springs to mind. It's all about mixing noisy extremity, metal riffs
and whatever weird idea that you have. Vocals are pretty varied, from
abrasive roars to gory pitch-shifted goodness, screaming and even eccentric
singing (You know, like the funny singing on a couple of songs from
Anal Cunt's "Top 40 hits") and various other funny vocals
(a bit like Birdflesh sometimes). That's what I can say after listening
to the 4 songs on this promo. The stuff is not perfect, it's not always
catchy and it maybe needs a little more flowing grind feeling, but it
honestly leaved me with a great impression. If they can keep pushing
the boundaries of intensity, diversity and insanity the way they do
it on these songs and have a tiny bit more powerful (but still raw!)
sound, I think Conflicting Theories might kill.
Tracks: 1)From Disillusion to Dissolution 2)Circle
of Megalomania 3)Sensual Deviance 4)Trick or Treat

Review: This is raw doom
from Insia, with members of Conflicting Theories (reviewed up there).
It's really not my kind of music, but I figured I'd review it anyway,
just coz Conflicting Theories is way cool. It's a bit sludgy, without
too much arrangements and the sound is quite raw, rough edges always
make doom stuff more interesting, so these points made me appreciate
the stuff quite a bit. It is very Black Sabbath-like, with some early
Cathedral inklings as well as some Autopsy ("Mental Funeral")
similarities. Unfortunately, it's doom, so it's kinda slow - though
definitely not as slow as most doom stuff I hear, it has a bit of rythm
- But I'm not playing stuff that's not fast often, simply because that's
good for depression, and it's not gonna happen. Still if you're up for
good, raw doom metal... Dying Embrace will do more than fine!
Tracks: 1)The Passing Away 2)Grotesque Entity
