CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Desperately Insensitive" Cd

(Obscene Productions - OBP 064)
Release date: 2005

Running time: 54:44

Review:
Here's Obscene Productions re-release of this controversial italian band's latest full length album... The first differences compared to the original Necropolis release can be seen with the cd layout, which still presents itself as a huge unfolding poster but with pictures adjusted in different way... Some meaty extras can also be found in the end with tracks from a recording of the band's performance during Obscene Extreme 2003. The sound quality on these live tracks is excellent and the band is as raging as they've ever been... As for my review of the album itself, allow me to recycle the old write-up I had made about it... "Desperately Insensitive" sound like a new level for the band, and I also know the line-up has changed since the early years, but getting a little further into it, this is actually not that far away from the rest of Cripple Bastards discography. They still play the same, aggressive, furious grind/hardcore, but it all sounds tighter and more coherent than ever, with perhaps more arrangements and a refined sound production. If you don't know them, the Cripple Bastards play a schizophrenic mix of enraged hardcore and violent grindcore. Shouted vocals and typical hardcore/punk riffs are balanced with a speed-crazed approach and uncompromised musical brutality, growled and shrieked vocals, thrashing and grinding riffs... Nervous, turbulent songs with constant changes of pace but always a determined anger. I assume most of the material is new, though I also noticed a few new reprise of older/classic tunes like "Being ripped off" or "I hate her" (probably my 2 favorite Cripple Bastards songs ever)... The lyrics are quite opiniated, and with straightforward messages, but don't expect strictly politically correct topics, they often talk about touchy subject matter and the whole thing really reeks of nihilism and negativity! The album itself is a masterful excercise in unrestrained rage and violence all the same. It's a slicker presentation of Cripple Bastards but like I said, they're still totally faithful to their old self, this album is the most cohesive and well-defined release they ever did.

CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Live to Hate People"

5" cd (Applequince Records)
Release date: 1999

Review:
One of the very latest Cripple Bastards new releases... Out on a charming, unusual, tiny, very small CD format and a cover with nice visual; If I'm not wrong, a collage of pictures taken from sick italian gore flick, Anthropophagous, by trash director Joe d'Amato (who recently passed away)... Well, musically we once again have the very unique, own nasty & noisy grind/hardcore Cripple Bastards style, with this special feeling of extremely aggressive revolt and rage. This is some live material, but no time is left to get bored, your brain is bashed every second by the unbelievably catchy, fast, tight rythmic drums, the totally noisy guitars/bass and seriously hateful shouts & screams by Giulio (a madman). Sound is raw but also incredibly powerful. A grindcore with many fresh punk/crust influences. But not a fucking common band. they are the Cripple Bastards! The stuff here is from 4 different live gigs from 97/96. All the tracks already featured on side A of their recent "Negativity..." promo tape.

Tracks: 1)Intro/Being ripped off 2)Paranoiac 3)Ragman 4)I hate her 5)Radije volim... 6)Lotta per il potere (kollettivo) 7)What I thought 8)Get out and bite them 9)1974 10)Watchin' through my chaos 11)A dispetto della discrezione 12)Invito alla risevatezza/ Come è falso dio 13)Pastete (buka) 14)Intro + Fuck politics (The scroungers) 15)Mass media (Indigesti) 16)Sexist society... must destroy it! 17)Stimmung 18)Padania di merda 19)Authority? 20)Asti punx 21)Necrospore 22)Too late

CRIPPLE BASTARDS "Your Lies in Check"

(Extremisti Unita Produzioni)
Release date: 1996

Review: You probably already heard about these italian savages!!! This cd comes with 69 studio tracks, but not only new songs, alot of re-recorded old ones... It's mainly wild and noisy grindcore but with alot of hc/punk/crust influences... my favorite "songs" are the very short ones with insane and typically grind-noise vocals shouted right in the microphone, sounds like "bluuaaarrrrrggghhhh!!!!!". Sometimes I would have preferred a dirtier sound... with noisy amps sound and all that stuff! like a good old crusty noise vibe! Because everything is truly clear sounding and the guitars seem to be distant from the drums too... There's like an echoe or something... Anyway this is really a great release filled with violence and intensity! It comes with a large booklet with cool artwork, band pics and highly interesting quite pessimistic, hateful lyrics... released by E. U. production, the own Cripple Bastards label...
