	BIRDFLESH "Live @ Giants of Grind" Cd
	(Power It Up) Release date: 2005 Running time: 36:33 Review: I usually am not so hot about live recordings, especially when it comes to grind, but this one live cd is quite well-made... All around great for anyone who's curious about how the band sounds live... And well, I'd say they're almost as tight on stage as they are in a studio; this is the same performance as the one on the Power It Up Dvd... This specific show has a technical fuck-up at one point but otherwise these guys nail each of their songs perfectly, with great energy and aggression, and everything with a really very good sound too... Their songs are all very well-oiled machines, furiously catchy and hysterical, this band is simply a rollercoaster live! The pitch-perfect, hard-hitting, blazing fast drumming is the center of the band's strengths, but the ripping guitar riffs and the brutal, wacky vocals are up there too! The band performs with bizarre masks as you can see on the cover (looks like one of em had to take it off because of the heat though, ha!) and I think all 3 members do vocals... What else to add? Oh the setlist is awesome, and I guess you could take a random selection of any Birdflesh songs and end up with a superb setlist anyway... But still, I'm a little bummed cuz it's missing "Brutal Corpse", one of my personal favorites, but I guess you can't have everything! So well anyway, this is probably the single most entertaining thrashing grind bands around these days! Refreshing sense of humor, devastating music... This band continues to kick my ass! 	BIRDFLESH "Alive Autopsy/Trip to the Grave" Cd
	(Razorback Records - RR25) Release date: 2004 Running time: 42:37 Review: What we have here is the digital re-edition of these swedish psychos' Lp "Alive Autopsy" and the earlier Ep "Trip to the Grave"... To me, Birdflesh is simply one of the tightest Repulsion/Terrorizer/Macabre hybrid I've ever heard, some insanely fast, basic but also really skilful and effective grindcore with a thrashing metal vibe and a prominent sick sense of humor. Each song is like a tight little package, you know what you're in for, head-first moshing grind, with clear-cut, grinding and thrashing guitar riffs, solid and extremely catchy drumming between pounding midtempos and blazing fast grind-tornados, raging dual vocals with aggressive, roaring shouts answering to vehement but playful screams (plus every now and then some totally whacked-out clear singing thrown in as well)... All delivered with assuredly great grindcore savoir-faire! The sound production on the "Alive Autopsy" material is perfect in my eyes, nothing too fancy, nothing too raw, just one hell of a heavy, clear and grinding sound with an old school vibe. The "Trip to the Grave" material sounds slightly rawer but it's the first Birdflesh release I've ever heard so it remains my favorite Birdflesh material ever anyway! Don't forget the lyrics because they really triple the fun that is Birdflesh, completely over-the-top, hysterical tales of absurd gore and twisted madness... there's a hidden track in there too, it's a cover version of the unmistakenable SxOxB's song "Vicious World"... and it's totally mind-blowing too! Anytime you feel crappy I say just put on some Birdflesh and it'll put you back into shape... 	BIRDFLESH "Night of the Ultimate Mosh" Cd
	(Razorback Records) Release date: 2002 Running time: 27:28 Review: I give this full marks! Birdflesh delivers in all departments, it's great grindcore with amazing chemistry, mind-blowing grindcore song-writing, the exact right amount of thrashing metal influences, raging roars, wacky screams, a few excellent pitch-shifted backing growls, the adequate sound production (powerful and clear but avoiding to fall in the 'unbearably heavy' category). The band has a weird sense of humor that's not for everybody, but Birdflesh is about the only band that actually makes me laugh, many bands try to be funny but most of the time they're just not. Also, most bands with humor as a main theme are often into hard-to-listen noise-grind. Birdflesh might be weird and fun, but their grindcore is well-structured and it totally kicks ass. There's a bit of Macabre (without the boring technical aspect), a bit of Repulsion/old Napalm Death-kinda riffs, a bit of that good old crusty swedish sound and the same striking energy SxOxB used to have on "Leave Me Alone" & "What's the Truth?" (Personal favorites!). You have 22 tracks in 27 minutes of infallibly catchy and fast grindcore, hysterically funny lyrics, wonderful cheesy artwork and much much more... A masterpiece from start to finish. Some people are probably gonna be put off by the humor, but personally I'd rather listen to bands that don't take themselves so fucking seriously, and I think Birdflesh is just the best and freshest grindcore band around these days, end of the line.
