Impaled Review: A Split Ep with the 2 most
exciting (to me) bands around. And that's the first
Impaled record I write about. So, Impaled is in for 2
songs. It's certainly not your standard mainstream death
metal band. That's breath-taking song-writing, very
accurate, a chain of crushing riffs, sharp drumming,
aggressive vocals (the usual mix of quite high-pitched
Kreator-like vocals and regular death metal roars), a
fast-paced kick-ass rythmic sense that never lets down.
Beyond that, their stuff has a very special creepy, some
true savoir-faire, that's what I can't explain, they just
sound awesome. They also write brilliant lyrics, really
fun and well-written tales of gruesome gore and horror.
Their humor isn't obvious, but it's there and it makes
the difference with most bands I think, some sort of
spirit à la Impetigo & Exhumed also, that I really
like a bunch. Musically, there's a bit of old Entombed/Grave,
a bit of Exhumed of course, a bit of grind and good ol'
thrash. They're really tight, and quite swedish-dm-sounding
I guess too. Noticed they named their guitar solis, and
those sound alot like Carcass' solis, and Impaled just
sound alot like Carcass... I realize my review gets
muddled under references, I can't help it... Anyway,
that's truly masterful death metal to me, not just poser
metal, and a truly precious and rare piece of gore.Tracks: 1)Night Soil 2)Until Death Sounds: "Nightsoil" Mp3 |
Engorged Review: I couldn't really figure out how
many tracks the Engorged side featured, wasn't very clear
on the cover (which is wicked weird, but damn cool this
way). Sounds like a big long song with different parts.
Starts off great, almost gore/grind-like with kicking,
abrasive, raw metal and crazy vocal effects, that part
really cranked me up, it's really brilliant... The
following stuff gets a bit weirder but I liked it too,
there are Engorged trademark high guitar notes and
general metalistic chaos. In the end, I have a very
positive feeling about Engorged side too... I'm really
psyched to finally hear new Engorged stuff, that's one of
my fave bands aroundand they're always really great and
crazy. This Split Ep is a definite Must-Have,
everything's perfect about it, and... I'm serious this
time. |

(Bloodbath Records/BIMI021-Macabre Mementos Records/MM001) Release date: 1999 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Impetigo
"Primitives" Review: Okay, this is a
new EP, with Impetigo live tracks from 1988! This is a
must-hear for everyone. Just to realize they were true
extreme music precursors! The material here sounds very
metal (but extreme metal), with quite crazy vocals,
clearer than in their later releases, but still insane!
But can also hear they already got a good grind power!
With fast drums, thrashy guitars etc... especially on
"Jane Fonda sucks"(what I don't know, but she
does...) an ultra short song, which nearly sound like
grind-noise there. The deadly cover artwork was made by
great artist, Luisma(Haemorrhage)... Another good reason
to get this godly EP right now! Tracks: 1)HBO Theme/Who's fucking who? 2)My Lai 3)Jane Fonda sucks |

Review:
Unfortunately, I don't know any background info
about this japanese band at all... So, I can only tell
you they play good death metal with good raw sound (this
is live material from 92 & 94); and also doomy
influences. This is an interesting underground death band.
You should have a listen to this... The cover is cool
too, with a bizarre zombie holding a cross... funny! Tracks: 1)Deathlife 2)Suffocation Label Contact: |

Bastards "Good taste in assholism" Review: Here are 6 new
studio Cripple Bastards tracks; Some of the best fucking
C.B. material I have ever heard! Okay, I don't know the
whole C.B. discography! But the side of this ep is really
great! No bullshit! All the songs are incredibly hateful
with faster than fast hardcory rythms and an ecstatic
noisy/crusty raw vibe... Giulio vocals are always so
personal, between aggressive brutal hardcore voice and
total grind/noise shrieks... It's like old Cripple
Bastards, with a pretty more positive(or negative?),
powerful grinding energy (a bit like the energy of
nowadays Agathocles stuffs). No boring parts! Only
catchy, swift and fast tracks! The sound is clear so you
can hear all the noise slowly tearing your brain apart!
The well-writen, sarcastic, socio-pessimistic lyrics are
always there, and always so interesting to read too! Tracks: 1)I hate her 2)Get out and bite them 3)Mondo plastico 4)Fuck poltics, let's riot(The scroungers) 5)Always unsatisfied 6)Jesus and his crabs Contacts: SOUND POLLUTION E.U.'91 PRODUZIONI |
