Review: While Bile has coldly abandoned the sick pitch-shifted gurgling vocal style and renamed their band Skullhog, it seems like Morris/Hymen Holocaust thankfully picked up the slack in terms of dutch splatter-grind drudgery! I have the feeling the sound production is alot smoother than H.H.'s previous offerings... Some of the older stuff sounded really harsh and exagerated, but this time the songwriting seems easier to get into for me with a swifter drum sound, slicker guitar tone and not as madly barked vocals. Musically this is simply sounding alot like prime Mortician stuff except with real drumming and sicker splattery vocals. Just ultra-downtuned guitars, basic but pretty infectious riffs, mostly midtempo beats, straightfoward and catchy tunes that run rather long, from 2 to 4 or 5 minutes. Quite a few slow doom passages and gloomy riffs, but usually it all breaks out into crazy Cock and Ball Torture style grooves at one point or another. That's all there is to it really! Either you like this shit or you don't, but it's perfectly executed mix of sludgey doom/death metal and the midpaced kind of goregrind.
The extensive use of movie samples is still in vigor, but this time Jörg Buttgereit's oeuvre is left behind for a classic italian gut-churning shocker in Cannibal Ferox! Once again Morris really sticks to this one movie throughout the full length (Alot like what Bile did with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre & Friday the 13th in the past), mostly the sweet sounds of people screaming while getting their genitals or mammaries chopped off/pierced! This movie has been a source of inspiration to metalheads as far back as Death on "Scream Bloody Gore", but its trashy, obnoxious influence seems to linger go on and on! (Fuck, I'm even using a stupid Cannibal Ferox mousepad as I'm writing this review!)

METHADONE ABORTION CLINIC/STOMA Split 7" Ep

Methadone Abortion Clinic (US) Review: Solid riffing, groovy rhythms, processed gurgling and belching vomit... Yeah, this baby shares a lot of DNA with Cock and Ball Torture. Why not? This is a well done clone, catchy, tight and brutal, it just gets the job done. I'm more of a RGTE man than CBT, so I like goregrind better with more d-beats & blastbeats, but I'll take whatever I can get at this point... And this band's definitely a grinding force to reckon with! Their Split CD with Biological Monstrosity solidifies that feeling for me...
The sick, fleshy close-up on the cover art is pure goregrind too! The label Utter Disgust Records that put this out seems to have gone belly up since, before I even heard about it! That's too bad, this is a great split EP, two awesome goregrind bands on really cool looking marbled vinyl...

Stoma (NL) Review: If the Methadone Abortion Clinic cover is an internal endoscopic view, I'm guessing Stoma's side is like the entry point of the camera, this is like a high concept split ep.
Stoma is really apart from alot of other dutch goregrind bands musically, delivering ripping and fast grindcore, straightforward incisive riffing, not as downtuned as most bands in this style but still extremely vicious-sounding... Definitely more akin to later years Regurgitate than Gut and more deserving of the "grind" tag than alot of "goregrind" bands out there, at least this has tons of speed and blasts. Vocals are very particular though, first off they sound like pure throat-torture, like somebody trying to perform pitch-shifted vocals without the help of a pitch-shifter, just really raucous and sickening grunts, this shit's gotta leave the vocal chords pretty sore! These are accompagnied by a lot of rapidfire manic bloodcurdling screams as well. But what makes these vocals unique is not totally a positive for me, I actually think some actual pitch-shifting would improve the band's sound, but maybe that's just me! Lyrically and imagery-wise, I can't think of anything sicker, these guys are reaching the apex of sick.
As a bit of news, they've been working on their new album "The Glorification Of Sexual Depravation", I'm noticing at least one song repeating from Ep from the tracklist, I'm already dreading this album, here's the announced tracklist for this upcoming full length: 1.
