Disgorgement of Intestinal Lymphatic Suppuration Review: I'll start by saying this stuff is strictly reserved to the most diseased brains out there, and you'll only find drum machine gore & porngrind bands here... Ok then, now let's get our hands dirty... The first band in this classy franco-russian 4 way split release is a french one: Disgorgement of Intestinal Lymphatic Suppuration is playing filthy, sewagey goregrind, I'd say even borderline noisecore, three-piece drum machine band. I'd describe them as a deformed xenomorphic mutant offspring between Last Days of Humanity and Lymphatic Phlegm going through an Anal Birth... They're probably my preferred band on this split due to their heavier emphasis on blastbeats! They keep it fast and pounding, guitar parts are often messy, like a fuzzy mush, but some decipherable thrashing riffs perk up from time to time. The drum machine sound isn't too realistic but does the job nicely with tons of unnatural sonicly blasting speeds and the bubbling mess of grunting vocals is the most tolerable among the bands on this release... I haven't been covering this type of goregrind for a while but if you're into sick shit you should check out www.allyouneedisgore.com which is managed by one of the members of this band.

Subarachnoid Separation Review: Gurgling from Russia, this following band sounds alot more like Gut or a simplistic Cock and Ball Torture. This stuff is listenable but gets a little too repetitive and the pig-like growling vocals can get really grating after a while (some more varied vocals would have helped). Guitar riffs are really distorted and tuneless, rhythms stay in catchy midtempo (think Ulcerous Phlegm Consequence style beats, that's most of the time) with some blasting outbursts few and far between. You'll also be treated to some extremely out of place weird russian song intros!

Bizarre Ejaculation Review: We're back in France with more of the same weirdo electro-porngrind but this one strikes me more as a Libido Airbag clone, it's got a lot of groove to it, pretty effective looped distorted thrashing riffs and probably the catchiest beats/most attractive hooks on this cd. Sick, twisted and effective for a band in this genre.

Anal Supersonic Sex Review: To finish we've some russian porngrind with more of a Cock and Ball Torture bent. Actually this band has the best and fullest sounding guitar and bass tone on this release and the drum-programming isn't too bad. But really musically this almost sounds Six Feet Under type death metal except with some the most ridiculously thin sounding and repetitious pig squealing vocals... Anyway I can't say this release will revolutionize the music world and it's probably not the best example of drum machine goregrind but some of it a good, sleazy fun especially coming from the 2 french bands. Check this out at your own risk!

Review: Let's start with something fast... So fast the band is out of material by the end of this record's first side! This is another one of these bassless bands with more of a treble-heavy, raw feel. Guitar riffs are frantic, kind of a blur, but Napalm Death-like enough for me to get into! Ultra-fast blasts, super-abrupt breaks with perfect synchronicity, dual vocals with brutal lows and tons of screeching highs... I have to praise the drumming in this for being especially efficient in a rapid-fire and surgically precise way. Truly a devastating power-violent grind tornado of raging speed. Anyone into highly energetic bands like Insect Warfare, Wormrot or The Kill should dig Chiens as well, I think this band holds their own among these names. No lyrics to be found, just short messages... Recurrent subjects seems to be stuff about animal abuse and wishing people dead, and no worries you shouldn't be able to notice any french accent. Otherwise I'm also digging the simple artwork design and all that crap. I guess this is the fastest french band right now, and therefore the best! I'll keep this review short and sweet just like this LP. Bonus coolness points for the movie sample "I kick ass for the lord" at the beginning, one of my favorite quotes ever!

PULMONARY FIBROSIS "Interstitial Lung Diseases" Cd

Review: I had forgotten how cool Pathological Goregrind could be! Thankfully Pulmonary Fibrosis really outdid themselves for this album. First of all, I'm digging the heavy usage of pitch-shifter vocals! I think I complained before there wasn't enough on the last cd ("Organ Maggots") but I'm glad this issue was fixed this time, haha! Vocals are pretty much all sick gory pitch-shifter all the time, ressembling a putrid emphysemic death rattle and fitting in perfectly with the band's name and theme!
The album opens in a terrific way that brings back memories of "Maggots in Your Flesh" from "Surgical Disembowelment". I'm getting some serious Dead Infection vibes from this stuff, especially in the super-heavy and low guitar tone so thick it could stick to a wall, and simple, grinding riffs (no truly memorable riffing, but very effective all the same). Overall the largest bulk of the album is more of a deformed mutant hybrid between Last Days of Humanity (for the rummaging sewagey gore-grinding parts) and Cock and Ball Torture (for the catchy rhythms & chugging riffs). Drumming sounds appropriately brutal, tons of blasting and groovy mid-paced tempos. And again those roaring and gurgling gory vocals are galvanizingly sick.
Last but not least the cover art is fucking bloody amazing. I'd say this is close to my favorite Luisma artwork ever! (The internal point of view is awesome but it's the wriggling maggots that puts it over the edge I think)
There are no lyrics included but instead one of the longest thanks list I've ever seen, ha! I wish the band would do more with the pathological concept, but I really like their specializing in lung diseases with the respiratory sounds as intro samples... Anyway I think Pulmonary Fibrosis spawned a monstrous goregrind masterpiece with "Interstial Lung Diseases"! I must command this band's totally uncompromising approach here, delivering one of the purest goregrind album ever coming from France! Sound production is quite good, purely heavy shit. Fans of Bile, Cock and Ball Torture & Last Days of Humanity should eat this maggot-infested mucopurulent sputum up with a spoon!

NECROWRETCH "Putrefactive Infestation" Mini-Lp (45 RPM)

Review: I haven't been up-to-date with most things death metal for a while but this band conjures up such an old school sound, almost like the last 20 years never happened, and their infernal sound makes me feel right at home. This record was recommended to me by Chain S. Wray (of Coffin Terror fame) and Necrowretch is rightfully a great band. Finally some french death metal I can effortessly get into! Mainly the riffs are just plain fantastic, gruesomely melodic and totally ripping. And the song-writing is extremely satisfying overall. Rhythmically this is steadily fast, relentlessly pounding kind of stuff but with a good amount of nuance and variety. Bassdrum and snare are sounding really nice and thick, and the bass lines creep up with a welcome prominence... The sound production feels just right, Necrowretch nails the old school death metal sound so perfectly with a good balance of heavy and raw, clarity and nastiness... The necessary putrid atmosphere is there too, I can easily imagine this material was recorded in the dark vault depicted on the cover art, guitar amps blowing putrescent dust in the air! This is definitely a successful and thoroughly captivating tribute to old school swedish death metal (early Nihilist/Carnage/Dismember)... But it's also infused with thrash & black metal influences, Repugnant comes to mind as well as Morbid, especially in the vocals which are of the morbidly echoing, raspy, ghoulish & vociferating variety! I'm also digging the black and white artwork of course, and the old school layout looks authenthicly from the very early 90's; there was no lyrics sheet included with my copy (argh!) but I've been told there should normally be one with every copy. It comes on a nice looking white vinyl though. Absolutely my pick for best french death metal band right now!

This Mini-Lp should be repressed in 2012.

GAPTAIN THREE LEG/WHORETORN/YEAST INFECTION Split Cd

Review: Captain Three Leg opens in a very basic, mid-paced sloppy death metal style with low gurgling & grunting vocals... This stuff's a little weird and not exactly how I remember this band sounding in the past. This time it almost reminds me of Pathologist or Dead although the band isn't worried about consistency and mixes plenty of other different styles and moods, including sludge, slow thrash & crust, most of the times it's got very german porn-grind style in Cock and Ball Torture or Gut style or maybe is it more like Meatshits (the originators of porngrind) since Mortville Andy seems to be really into them. Anyway it's decent stuff, slightly too sluggish, unfocused and frustrating at times. I wouldn't have opened this split with Captain Three Leg and saved the slow shit for last!

Next up is Whoretorn from France, doing a great job at emulating the frenzied grind/noisecore style of Dismembered Fetus & Anal Cunt Nice with a dense, rugged, low-tuned sound, a very intense performance, fast grinding songs with a real focus on raging effectiveness. Scumbag attitude is still the rule here but in Seth Putnam's words: nothing's offensive anymore, and it's difficult to outdo anything by Anal Cunt or Festering Puke! Anyway I've rarely heard a french band nail the true hategrind/noisecore "sound" like Whoretorn! Whoretorn could have picked up where Anal Cunt left off, if they didn't split up! Actually none of the bands on this split cd are still active now I think.

Yeast Infection... Actually, maybe it was a good idea to save the best for last! Always weird to hear a dead guy's music, although not as weird as Anal Cunt's "Wearing Out Our Welcome" (that one really sounds like Seth is gonna croak any minute!). Despite being questionably and unbearably hateful/offensive at times, the crazy, no holds barred approach of Festering Puke & Dismembered Fetus has always been fascinating to me! Yeast Infection is actually a more subdued (and slow) band but their music still very gripping and raging kind of sludge/metal/grind, whatever you want to call it! Definitely the tighest band on this cd, with catchy beats, quite inspired riffs and some mean, abrasive vocals from Ace... This band had got the perfect aggressive vibe. Some of Yeast Infection's band members formed Zombie Hate Brigade later. A solid split release overall.

GRONIBARD "We are french Fukk You" Cd

Review: A late review for Gronibard's latest album... I thought this was supposed to be the band's selling out album (or am I confusing them with Ultra Vomit?), this whole album is definitely slow-paced with alot of bullshit metal riffs... Yet, sound production's just as heavy and thick as their previous stuff and there's enough sick pitch-shifted vocals and Gut style porngrind elements to keep my interest. First song is an half-assed acoustic apology to women for all their offenses, perhaps inspired by Anal Cunt's "Picnic of Love", which turns out to be the most mysogynistic song on there. The rest of the "lyrical" content is pretty watered down and never too offensive really. This album is going in alot of different directions and parodies a bunch of metal styles, planting references from Cathedral style doom metal ("Cours Forrest of Equilibrium") to crust which turns out to be my favorite bit on there because of the catchy d-beat drumming. For the most part, this is slow, chugging, groovy death n' roll, basically. And the Necrophagia cover is probably the best song on there! I couldn't help but chuckle at some of these stupid jokes. I must confess I find Ultra Vomit much funnier, but Gronibard kept their stuff alot sicker, they're both retarded anyway I guess, so who fucking cares. Just to pick one, I'll say "Crève Ultra Vomit, Crève!" is perhaps my favorite among their original songs on there, and "Hokoutro" with all the "Fist of the North Star" samples is pretty funny too. Overall, this is a really well-produced album, music's decent, just kind of dull... I'll just say the first Naked Gun movie was fun but the rest of the series got tiring, although still watchable, I guess... I feel the same about Gronibard.

AGUIRRE "Calvaire" Cd

Review: Let's continue this parade of different music styles from France... This one's a really slow band. Sludge isn't my bag, but I can get into some of this stuff from time to time, if guns are pointed at me. This band writes epic 10 minutes songs, alot of it crawls at a deadly slow pace but sometimes things perk up with catchy rocking riffs. The main attraction is the really sick, heavy sound. In terms of influences, I'd say probably early Cathedral, Sleep... Stuff like that. This music inspires me like the draught and desert on the cover art, it feels reall frustrating and torturous like the album title indicates. The lyrics won't do a thing to cheer you up either, but I guess if you're into getting fucked up and listening to slow shit, this should be the perfect band for ya!
